Weipa is a coastal mining town in the local government area of Weipa Town in Queensland. It is the largest town on the Cape York Peninsula. It exists because of the enormous bauxite deposits along the coast. The Port of Weipa is mainly involved in exports of bauxite.
The town consists of three residential suburbs, Rocky Point, Trunding, and Nanum, in addition to the industrial suburb of Evans Landing; these suburbs are contiguous. The town also includes the suburb of Weipa Airport which is not connected to the other suburbs and contains the town's airport.[6]
Weipa is just a small town, but they do have a local shopping centre with everything you should need for supplies.
It’s great fishing here and there are a few great camping spots up north, in our previous videos we check out the Pennefather River fishing and camping, so don’t forget to check that out.
Thanks for watching and don’t forget to like and subscribe.
