This year's performance was one of the most confident and sharp I've seen - everything felt energised and excited. The corps de ballet were excellently in tune with each other, I don't think I've ever quite enjoyed Waltz of the Snowflakes as much. Additionally the camera work this year was exceptionally well executed; no crucial dancing missed, lots of emphasis on the acting in the first Act and certain things were highlighted well that are sometimes missed by audiences. The character work was really brought to life with some lovely ideas. All the principals seemed to be genuinely joyful and supremely confident. Every year is gorgeous with exceptional moments, but this one seemed notably well done from beginning to end. I will definitely be buying this copy if it is released.
I watched from Cromer, Norfolk. It is a beautifully spellbinding production and the dancing captivating. I applauded along with the audience at Covent Garden 👏
Im going to see The Nutcracker in Toronto The National Ballet Of Canada . In Toronto . I haven’t seen the Nutcracker since I was a little girl . Ive been taking Adult Ballet Classes at Canada’s National Ballet School in Toronto over the past 5 years . Adult beginner Ballet . Love it . The live cinema stream yesterday was exquisite, spine tinglingly wonderful. I shall just have to keep coming back year after year until I'm a very old lady if this is the magical standard, bravo!!!!
It was very interesting to watch this after seeing Kameko and Bracewell’s PDD. I’m partial to the Hayward/Campbell pairing bc it’s just so sugar sweet and has a “simplicity” I prefer, but I was intrigued by how Fumi and Bracewell made it their own. Bracewell is one of the only male dancers that my eye is consistently drawn to, his acting skills are superb. His character always *is* a character and not just a wooden support for the ballerina, which helps me pay more attention to the pairing and the ways the dancers are interacting.
