With the arrival of Trump in 2017... SHARE IT. PASS IT ON. David Ippolito "That Guitar Man" debuted a new Tea Party anthem... "I Want My Country Back". (NYC) Now available on iTunes: tinyurl.com/mlpbguf (Possibility Junkie Music LLC)
Saw you tonight on Concert Window and had to check this out: damn it is great! Brilliant witty writing and absolutely dead on political satire. Loved it!
Thanks so much Karen. Yeah, it was a blast havin' Chris, Megon and Rick and all of you guys in my apartment! Very cool. Keep passin' this video around, okay? I love making "impatience with small-mindedness" fun! (Thanks again.)
I'm not much of an "online guy", Denise. I work best with a piece of wood and 6 strings. So it only goers viral if you guys make that happen. Have fun with it!
John Royal Hey man... thanks so much, John. No kidding. I hope this is the kind of thing that lands on people all across the country and let's them know they're not alone. (I admit that the audience reaction floored me that night.) Keep sharing it around the internet. It only gets out there with guys like you! Thanks!
Thanks so much man. Wrote this one a long time ago. Hey listen.... I'm doin a gig tight now in Mexico, but when I get back to NYC, you might have fun hangin' with me and a bunch of fun people twice a week... LIVE online. (If I remember I'll give you a shout next week. Or... remind me!)
Utterly hilarious! Well, well done. I'm forwarding to all like minded chums. You've done the world a huge service. Now, could you please excoraite Congress in a similar vein?
That Guitar Man from Central Park Now start kicking this one around. (Gotta call 'em as I see 'em!) tinyurl.com/m4hkkbm RT and get ready for the reaction!
I'm an avid fan of Les Mis.... I'll raise you one by suggesting 'Empty Chairs at Empty Tables' (the real version): There's a grief that can't be spoken. There's a pain goes on and on. Empty chairs at empty tables Now my friends are dead and gone. Here they talked of revolution. Here it was they lit the flame. Here they sang about `tomorrow' And tomorrow never came. From the table in the corner They could see a world reborn And they rose with voices ringing I can hear them now! The very words that they had sung Became their last communion On the lonely barricade at dawn.
At the very beginning when he was talking about national purity and values the authenticity threw me off -- he actually did sound like the Tea Party lol.
I don't understand...Do tea partiers want their country to return to 100 years ago when we had MUCH higher taxes for the rich? Or do they want it to return to post-revolution days when George Washington talked about how we should have strong welfare for the poor?
When I hear "I want my country back"... I wonder, which country? The one where unions were illegal but child labor was legal, or when women couldn't vote, or when gay men and women were forced into the closet, or the days of slavery, or Jim Crow, or on and on and on and on. I find it fascinating that anyone consider "Progress" to be a negative thing. (I love the word.)
Y'know? I've learned that when I need to make a point musically, if I aim for the "intellect", I run into a brick wall. When I aim for the "heart", sometimes I discover a secret passageway. But if I aim for the "funnybone" - I often find a side door that was unknowingly left unlocked.
This is not what the tea party stands for. No one wants to reverse the progress we have made toward ending racism, we just want less government. Crack a book man.
I get it. It took a sec at first I thought you were serious not ever seeing your work before. Then I continued just to see how ridiculous you were going to be, from there i thought he couldn't seriously be going at women, and gays and survive lol. Good Job, however there are three kind of people that will take it completely at face value. People that really feel that way, People that think you really feel that way, and then the Man In the Middle. Either way good job!
