Will be the home of the 2028 Olympics Mountain Biking event. I competed in an off-road triathlon there with a swim in the reservoir and a bike and run in the trails. They have lots of racing there.
I grew up in San Dimas And road Bonelli a lot but only when it’s warm and the ground has hardened. The Bonelli reservoir is called Puddingstone and as you can see from the soil it lives up to its name. It’s horrible ride after it’s been raining for a while because the water has nowhere to drain. There’s also a gnarly downhill by the 10 freeway. You almost hit it too But you bypassed it when you went to the rock garden.
Lol! I used to ride this trail all the time when I first started riding. I had a cheap Raleigh hardtail that I got ripped off for on craigslist. Good times
Marshall canyon creek feed feeds puddingstone. Btw yes you can make it all the way up to Marshall canyon via the flood control channel.... Don't ask me how i know that.
Ok. I can tell you that the route you took is allot of fun if you #1 take it when its dry and not just after a rain storm. #2 do it in reverse. Start near the air port ride along the north shore go across the dam. Make it to the top of the hilla by the 57 fwy. Then ride down the fire road all the way to San Dimas Ave. Mr. Bonelli will reward you for it.👍
Did this trail once and couldn't figure out how to get to the good part lol. I think I'll go back now. Awesome video as always, thanks for sharing. Until next week 🤙🏼
I live right there off of puddingstone drive and ill ride Vietnam to the camping area and go down hot tube time machine and pipes. Best single track trail at the park. Definitely stick on the east side of the park for little hidden single track gems!
I thought you were going down the Michael Antonovich Trail since you parked there. Pretty nice mellow and scenic ride when there isn't too many hikers in the way. Good stuff in the summer crossing the streams.
Hey outsider, behind the bathroom at the beginning of the Rocky Hill and corkscrew trails, they're are 3 jumps that are good size to play around on so check it out if u want to
Lol I love watching you ride high effort/low reward trails because I've been experiencing that a lot while exploring lesser known "trails" that are local to me. Would love to do a small dual comm ride with you in the Palos Verdes/San Pedro area. I just need to heal my arm and get more competent on my cheapo hardtail. Hoping to get all the green/black of Portuguese Bend ridden by Spring.
Yea we usually start off at Via Verde they have the car pool lot then go down across the bridge over the 57 fwy. into the park then take your pick go right side straight into the trail up and around to the top by the reservoir "Hellipad" a few different ways to do that side or after crossing bridge make the left take the road all away around to waterpark there's a small gate opening go around the lake cross that water like you did we usually ride through it ! depending how deep it gets pretty deep there . so there's all kinds of ways to do Benelli there's a lot more to find . Never thought of starting where you did tho. I thought you were gonna go down on that side u parked on. Thanks for sharing
I think you took some crummy parts of Bonelli. It's really a fun ride when you get out of the muddy side. Next time park at Norms, and finish with the Corkscrew! =) There are many singletrack rocky trails on the back side. . Totally fun, but best in the Spring and Fall without the rain.
@@TheOutsiderMTB right about now it’s perfect! The “Haunted Hayride” is part of the ride right now, so a little extra show. Next time maybe have a trail Sherpa who takes the Norms Hangar start. 😀
You totally started in the wrong place. You should of either started at Via Verde or at Bracket airport. Many of this sections you rode should be done the other direction and you missed a bunch of fun sections.
@@TheOutsiderMTB yah, that's probably the most technical trail in Bonelli but as far as I know there has never been a race on it like you stated. All the racing is usually done in the center and south side of the park. Also, as you found out, you don't want to ride there for at least a week after it rains. BTW, on your list of places to ride after the rains, you totally missed out on Sycamore Canyon in Riverside, behind Jenson USA. That place sheds water so well that you can ride it in the rain and hit almost no mud.
@@TheOutsiderMTB i would subscribe buuuttt............I already have!!!!! this is probably a stupid question but can you subscribe to my youtube channel. It will actually make my day. Please Im actually begging. Ive never got a big youtube pro biker like you to suubscribe to me. I did fullerton loop today and i crashed hard on a berm after a tabletop. I couldnt find any gems but im going with some people that will show me next time. If you read this please respond.
@@TheOutsiderMTB This year is almost over. There is some great single track near Sullivan ridge area, but I am still practicing to get my leg strength to go up the hill. What's your rear cassette spec?
Bonelli really sucks when you ride anything more the a HT. Next time your out there you should try to shuttle Webb Canyon, I wouldn't recommend pedaling. The climb is NOT worth the Dh
