In this episode, I do a deep dive into the new storage system of my van. First, my van is a 1998 GMC Safari Van that I've built out into an overland style van. I took it on a 2 month van adventure last summer, and I packed so much stuff, and was so unorganized, it was almost criminal. This year I am determined to do better, so I put a big effort into reorganizing the space. I did this by sizing down a few key items, and finding some perfectly sized equipment. I also need to note that because I will have a canoe on my roof, and that also comes with some specific special needs. Mainly I need a small ladder, a waterproof barrel, canoe cart, 2 paddles, and a bailing bucket, all to fit inside with everything else I need to carry. Van camping gear, backpacking gear, propane fire, portable toilet, etcetera. So I went out and bought some new bins and waterjugs from Temu, Some more bins from princess auto, more from KMS tools, and basically totally re jigged the way my storage system worked together. One of the big problems my van had last year was the fact that mice got in and ransacked my food cabinet. I talk about that and why that's a big reason I needed to have mouse proof storage containers. I hope I don't get mice again this year, but if I do, I'm ready. I also talked a little bit about some of the items I carried last year that were big mistakes. If you're a regular viewer, you might notice that I changed up my portable toilet this year. I also added an upgraded shower setup. In my next video, I'll go deeper into what and why I'm changing up.

Great vid..nice how that all fits in under the bed..label the bins on all sides..I'm forever opening the wrong ones.... Give a kyak padle a try..great for longer open water trips..quicker too Nice setup bud..

I am probably going to be rotating gear in between each bin as I go. So I'm not sure I'll label them, I will just continue to open the wrong one everytime. As far as the kayak paddle, I've never really thought about making the switch. My dad actually picked up a kayak paddle for his canoe and quite likes it. I have a style of paddling where I constantly switch sides, so getting one would actually probably make good sense.

Yes! Agree big time with the pop up canopy over the vehicle awning. I like being able to move it with the sun throughout the day. Im so pale and I cant tan, just burn so Im always chasing the shade lol

- Bring mouse traps. - If the paddle is cracked try TiteBond II wood glue. It's stronger than the wood and water proof, I've used ot for decades including cutting boards - Create a system on one of the back doors so you can mount that canoe trolley (?) Fun video, man....!

I'll be packing at least a 6 pack of fresh mouse traps and some dedicated mouse trap penut butter for sure. I can't remember how bad of shape my paddle was in before I taped it up, if it's worth saving, I might glue it back up and refinish it. I use it to push off the ground, so it chips up the bottom and let's water get it, which cracks it more. It would probably wise to do some preventative matenince on it every now and again lol.

@@SARGEinc Hmm, I bet you could form a soft metal, like maybe a sort section of copper pipe - slice it open and form it around the edge of the paddle and rivet in place (?) - it would be a project - A friggin' stick would do the same thing, though, I suppose (instead of bringing a paddle just for pushing off) - Looking forward to your next canoe trip

@@AstroVanTribe That would actually look pretty sick. A copper edged canoe paddle, I like it. I could also probably be more gentler with my paddle, but that seems unlikely😂

You should save the Shower video for your Tier 3 OnlyFans subs!

I did think about using the shower for an Onlyfans video. Even if it's just I just go wet tshirt contest on it😂

Suggestion for your canoe wheels extend your bike rack up. You can fit your bike on the bottom and on top your wheels. You can make it out of EMT pipe .

This is a good idea. My canoe cart comes apart, so I can probably rig up some sort of mount for it fairly easy. I never even thought about that before.

@vega1975 I did have to look up what emt was lol. I'm definitely going to think something up, then go to home depot for further brainstorming.

The ammo cans make good first aid kits too

I don't remember what is in the video, but I actually have a first aid kit that is one of the plastic ammo cans. Not quite as cool looking, but I thought it made more sense at the time.

Video idea, don't throw out the paddle restore it in a video, I assume it's cracked cuz of the duct tape, clean out the cracks re glue em or epoxy, maybe needs a little fiberglass work or not and re varnish, use spar varnish or marine varnish I would think. There's a place in lanlgey thats got all the supplies to do that kinda thing "Steveston marine and hardware or even home depot has most of it. Way back when, I was in army cadets and was staff for an adventure course, that's where I first got into canoeing, the guy that taught the canoeing told me one of his favorite memories as a kid was re varnishing their paddles every spring with his grandpa or father.

That's not a bad idea. If I had revarnished my paddle every year, it probably wouldn't of developed cracks lol. The old timers always know... I honestly don't remember what my paddle actually looked like before I put the tape on it, one day I'll take it off and see if it's worth saving. It might not be that bad, I might of taped it up while overthinking the day before starting revelstoke lake
