This reminds me of some of the buildings on Mainstreet (aka Hwy 17) here in Darien Georgia, and nearby downtown Brunswick Ga. I'm sure you know the "secret" remedy for gnats... (Avon's Skin So Soft) but you have to be mindful of getting sunburned.

Interesting old town. I remember when Oklahoma City had buildings with that sort of architecture but alas they were torn down to make way for ugly, modern buildings.

That town looks so well maintained. I was surprised that it was an abandoned town! I’m sad that many of our historic buildings around Phoenix have been destroyed. I’ve seen old black and white pictures of the original buildings and they were magnificent! I love watching your videos and knowing that your videos will outlast many of the places you have explored! Thank you for that!

The dance hall/saloon in the movie was my grandpa's square dance hall. My mom still has some of the old blank cartridges that they had fired, David Carradine gave her when she was a little girl while they were filming.

I grew up in a small town that has a “downtown” area made of up of a couple of blocks of Victorian brick buildings. Funny how they built those buildings so tall. They used everyone of the floors, too. Some had meeting places in them and even a bowling place was put in a second floor of one of those buildings. Sadly, almost all of the shops are closed. There used to be dress shops and shoe stores. The town once had two shoe repair shops and two drug stores along with a couple of banks and way back when it had a Five and Dime store. Even the department store that was built in a park during the 60’s is just a rotting mass that takes up the better part of a block. Such a shame that decision was made. I have seen photos of the beautiful park that was once there and all the beautiful trees and benches. They would have community events take place there and it was across a street from the train station that was once quite a busy place. During the war years many troops moved through that town. Globalization has put an end to a lot of these old towns. The USA used to produce all of the things that people buy while today all of those industries have been bankrupted by the flood of cheaply made and priced products from countries where the laborers have no say about their day to day lives much less their wages and working conditions. The most wicked of people decided that they would use slave labor waged workers to make what they would sell. Why pay western workers good wages and have to provide decent working conditions when they had to deal with none of that on the other side of the world? They have been able to bankrupt and then buy up thousands of of domestic businesses and send the jobs to communist China by flooding the market with cheap imports. The 60’s were the beginning of the end of small business and the middle class of the USA. About 90% of what we buy is stamped “Made in China.” Our way of life has been handed to a new form of royalty. The huge multinational foreign manufacturing corporations, the big banks, and foreign interests. Even the food supply is owned by big corporations. Very little domestically produced anything is left here. The US government now borrows billions of dollars yearly from communist China, which has been built into a super power by elites of the west that have every intention of destroying what is left of our way of life and owning everything.

The architecture does look a lot like some of the 1800s Old West buildings out here in California, although as you mention I don't think I've seen the names of the buildings and date of construction engraved in the thresholds before, they're usually on top of the building. There's a Parrotts Ferry Rd. near Sonora/Columbia (old west towns) in CA, I wonder if there's any relation to where you're at? BTW it's pronounced /Parrot/ here as far as I know. French typically doesn't use double T's and the end unless it has an -e or -es (unless it was once Parrotte?) so I doubt it's /par'oh/. What are you using to make such crisp & clear videos?

Some friends and I broke down in Parrott driving home on college break from Auburn to Tampa. It took about a week to get it repaired because the mechanic had to order parts. The cool part was we got to watch film crews film various scenes from The Longriders!

Thinking of the depot, in my town of Shenandoah, Iowa we have two RR depots that were saved. One is a popular restaurant, The Depot Deli formerly Burlington Santa Fe. The other was Wabash RR now moved about 6 blocks to a park and renovated for viewing.

Mr. Parrot is buried in the cemetery behind the Methodist church; like many of its former residents. Its not an abandoned town...we have well over 100 plus residents... the homes here are just as old and as historic! It’s a beautiful place to visit to just look at how the old old towns were constructed! I love it here!

It's so sad that the town couldn't bring a great little tourist attraction to that little piece of old buildings. It gets a lot of traffic down that road. I've seen towns that come together and make a success of out of what was fast becoming ghost towns.

@sidestep adventures that door with no steps I had to laugh. Its not the fall that gets ya... It's the sudden stop ✋ that does. And all that beautiful old lead glass with waves in them. If someone stood at those windows (bigger home type) during a lightning 🌩 storm their image could developer onto the glass. Making modern day 👻 ghost stories

Wow what an amazing place this is, such a shame most of it's abandoned. The store that was open should have kept it how it was inside originally but with modern items, now that would have been a nice touch. What a find, it looks well maintained though, especially with the little cemetery. Thank you for showing this, love hearing about the history of it and actually seeing what it would have been like all those years ago. Loved this video, thanks guys. (UK)
