One of the greatest character moments in all of fiction. This entire sequence is a masterpiece from past Eren dealing with the unrelenting guilt trying to rationalize what he will eventually do, to him for the first and only time since he was burdened with his knowledge of the future breaking down to Ramzi, a random child that can't even understand what he's saying due to a language barrier with Eren admitting to him that it isn't just to save the island its because humanity's existence and persecution of his people beyond the walls completely shattered his entire worldview and a dark, fucked up part of him really does want to wipe out everyone to make that childhood dream of an uninhabited Earth a reality. Intercut with his guilt racked sobs of remorse for the brutal death this innocent child will experience you get shots of the Rumbling from Ramzi's perspective on a ground level to show the sheer carnage Eren is responsible for. All of it culminating in Eren, regressed to a childlike state high above the carnage in a delusional state of pure bliss finally achieving the freedom he had dreamed of and fought nearly his entire life for, while current Eren is nothing more than a severed head trapped inside his own titan trying to block out the sounds of muffled screams and thundering footsteps just below him, but isn't this what he wanted? It's just perfect.

This might be one of the best takes on Eren's character that I've seen, he's not a hero nor is he a true villain, he's the tragic result of thousands of years of hate and suffering all accumulating in a single monster of pure destruction. That speech the marleyan commander gave before bombing the Eren and the rumbling summed it up perfectly

@@lchiefbeefl4428 Eren is a physical manifestation of the worlds hatred, a culmination of a 2000 year long blood feud that happened for no other reason than fuck you got mine, we have all the power now lets wage war all over the world because we can and I want to have the biggest cock in the room. King Fritz decided hey I don't like this, this shit is awful and we can do better so he liberated the people of Marley and ended the war, but what happened after that? Well Marley enslaved the Eldian people, took the power of 5 of the 9 and began to do quite literally the exact same thing they fought against and began to wage war all over the world using the power of the titans to do it, literally the same atrocities they condemn Eldians for. It is a never ending viscous cycle deeply ingrained into humans to dominate and oppress each other for any reason they can think of, this is why Eren was so disappointed when he learned the truth. He saw it in the walls too, even with so few humans left it still devolved into classism, murder, and pointless infighting, the world is just all of that on a global scale. Eren is the logical conclusion to this going on as long as it did, a monster of pure hate and destruction born from all the trauma inflicted upon him by people who thought hate was the answer. If you keep stoking the flame of hate, eventually the fire will grow so big it burns everything to the ground.

Spoiler warning for anime onlys. *You have been warned.* Only to turn into a whining child. His best friend thanking him for the genocide who was against his plan from the very beginning and his homeland gets carpet bombed to hell by the remaining 20% of the world. I loved this show so much, I really did. I pretty much grew up watching it but ended up reading the manga and that ending was something I just couldn't accept. Thankfully, AoT No Requiem exists to fill the gaping hole that the vanilla story left in my heart.

Thank you for uploading this. This is possibly one of the most horrifying and fear-evoking themes in the entire anime, I sat there in shock, completely jaw-dropped while tearing up witnessing pure and utter apocalyptic level-hopelessness hash out in animation! The music only intensified those emotions by 100x! Amazing job.

Those were literally some of the climax moments of the season 4 xd

@@osengcaradse3565 I don't think saying "literally" will convince me that's those are the best moments of s4, in my opinion the breaking of the walls (footsteps of doom), eren in the paths (michi and thraw), "the fall of marley", "ashes on the fire" , "The other side of the sea" and "The Global Allied Fleet" are better than Sawano remixes, but as i said in the beggining, this is just my opinion.

I don’t think it’s Eren losing it, so much as it is Ymir putting him in that state so he doesn’t have to witness what he is doing. I think there’s a reason why he’s a kid in that scene, she’s reaching that part of him that wanted to be free and allowing him to experience that masking the truth of what he’s actually doing so that he doesn’t feel the pain. Ramzi dying isn’t from Eren’s perspective it’s from Ramzi’s. He’s remembering what Eren told him. In his final moments he’s remembering Eren’s apology, it’s flashing to him and he’s understanding what is happening. This scenes was there to show Eren’s true heart condition. That he doesn’t really WANT to be doing this… but he has no other choice. Then we see the rest of the destruction, then cut to Eren experiencing freedom. There’s a reason he’s above the clouds and can’t see the destruction below. Ymir is protecting him.

That's crazy, this OST uses the same theme of season 1 OST, but slightly different. The theme here is more harsh, the intervals more dissonant and the context completely different, representing how much our main character has changed from season 1. From an epic chant of hope and freedom, to a terrible melody of despair and desolation.

When I saw the rumbling extending to isolated tribes and foregin who have nothing to do with Marley nor Eldia. I was like wtf Eren ! In reality such an event would have condemnd Paradis out of Environmental collapse worldwide and biomass extinction. Weird ending and kinda disapointing. It would have taken billions of collossals to do this, how ? And how could they randomly walk out of Paradis without destroying it but still managed to destroy the world ? Did the colossals reproduce on their way out ? How did mikasa just casually brought Eren's head back ? Did she swam with his head back to Paradis ?

I always imagined it like him being so devastated by what he is doing that he’s mentally regressing to being a child and ignoring what’s happening since he doesn’t seem happy with it but it is also traumatizing him so he’s ignoring it and focusing more on the sky. We saw that he didn’t like the outcome when talking to Ramzi, as well as yelling to hangs when there was another way, as well as his depressed state when talking to Mikasa and Armin. He doesn’t like this future but it’s kind of set in stone for him, like when he manipulated Grisha. One important detail that they changed in this episode is that when Eren looked sad inside his Titan it was different in the manga, there he actually had his eyes closed and it looks like him refusing to look at what’s going on, that might be why we see him imagining the sky because his eyes are closed and he willingly chooses to ignore what he is doing.
