Ahhh the lotus Opel Omega/Vauxhall Carlton, this was the car that riled the press because here was a family car that could do over 170mph, oh the shock, oh the horror. Beautiful example.
A car that almost eclipsed the Ford Cosworth range. Only ever seen one on the road when I was a teenager. It sounded amazing. Stunning road presence. The people who designed this car were true petrol heads and clearly had passion for cars. They should be proud of what a legend they created 👍
Stunning car. Ive got a Lotus Carlton but a 1/43 diecast one. Back then these was hated by the police since it could easily outrun them. I wonder how many Lotus Carlton's still exist now.

Lotus Carlton,based on the Royale Design,not many were Built,little over a thousand,seen some of these go up to 100grand ,and yah know what,worth every penny,evolution of a true supercar 😊
Never seen one only in pics a very underrated sports saloon maybe price was an issue even this is a left hand drive smashing find and nice to look under the bonnet as that monster engine speaks volumes .. amazingly beautiful.👌
in like 30 years the Omega lost almost half of its value when most cars do that in just a few years. But the price of the Omega doesn't set anyone back, in fact, it's the least thing to worry about, the biggest thing to worry about is driving: heavy clutch, heavy stearing and uncontroled torque.
MonkeyHunch1 ...we had Omega Elites on the fleet at Alamo back when they were new. An indicated 160mph on the clock was possible downhill (M23), erm, apparently. They handled well too. But most of the drivers still preferred the Carltons. GM used to make some nice cars.
