I have to run my SM7B with sooooo much gain. The SM7DB seems to be the one-stop-shop for people who want to buy one microphone and use it for everything and then never have to buy a mic again. Super cool!!! I love that you covered this :D
Finally someone else who likes the logo I literally struggled finding out what the sm7b was and what company it came from 3 years ago I like the logo on it. However I don't like how long the mic looks
For the people that may be confused. On Knarfys main channel there was a video called "Why did I buy this?" for Members only where he talked about a microphone he got that wasn't really good. So it seems like this video is talking about the newish one and how its better. What ever the case... Ill stick to my funny 70$ I've had for 3 years
People are upset with the price of the sm7db but honestly the mic is cheaper than the original version which was previously a 1000 dollar investment. However if i was to pick between the Sona and the Db but I would pick the sona I think it sounds better because I have heard this mic clipping which is odd because most audio people on youtube is really good with eq so until I hear more people use this mic I would hold off on buying it. So if i was to buy a mic today I would buy the sm7b, then the sona, then the db
I wouldn’t say the preamp is enough to justify it if you already have the SM7B, but if someone was buying a new mic, I’d recommend this one. It’s the exact same mic in every way other than the preamp, so if you’re already able to get good sound out of what you have, spending $500 to get the same sound isn’t really worth it in my opinion 🙃
Honestly no unless you're really tired of setting up the preamp you could invest in a blue sona which is cheaper and sounds pretty similar to the 7b. Or you could get a better audio interface and not need a preamp for extra gain
I would definitely say this sounds better than the MV7, but it's also a ton more expensive. So it's kinda up to you and what you need/can justify the purchase of!
