It's 100% a flavor of the month game, if it catches on, they'll roll with it for a while, but if not, they made their moneys worth from the Bunny pay piggies already as is. This is Nexon we are talking about, they've got another project in the works already to do the same thing. It's pump and dump gaming, they're pretty good at it, and there are always sheep that want to be sheared, so it just sort of is what it is.
DUDE PUMP AND DUMP GAMING IS UNIRONICALLY THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE THIS GAME. It's like they took a check list of "what's in a game" and checked them all without having passion or creativity behind it
Yeah man, I am loving the game, and I can't really articulate why that is. Ajax is boring af. I started with Lepic (grenade boy) and he was really fun, imo. After I got Bunny, I undertood the hype and carried on with her until I got Freyna, super poison girl. I auto skipped the entire story, I jus. t don't give a shit about story in games anymore. You have to have a mental disorder like mine to truly enjoy the Korean grind. I put on an audio book and run farming routes over and over, and that is how I relax. I totally get why you didn't like it. Also the prices in the in game shop should be illegal. $100 for a single ultimate character? $20 for a single character mod expansion? Nah, that's unsat and a fat no go. If you didn't like the game, I totally get it. There are so many other great games out there, so enjoy what you like.
quite a respectable comment ya got there friend. I think I can articulate why you like the game so much, you just like to grind mindlessly and I can respect that. As someone who likes to grind in warframe I can 100% see where you're coming from, it just so happens to be that the first descendant isn't a fun grind for me anyway. I'm glad you were able to understand my oppinion and I respect yours. By all means keep playing the game and have fun!
@@lmayo870 Nah it's for sure a problem that only effects certain people, the load screens aren't AMAZING, but I've never had one as long as what you showed, and my computer isn't any kind of hot shit. The game isn't very well optimized, so there are probably all sorts of weird issues that only apply to sects of the player base because of specific hardware configurations and whatever.
I’ve beaten the campaign on normal. Thuu it s game is a scam compared to other free to plays like warframe and even destiny only being free to try feels better than this game. Very disappointed currently with first decendant.
@@lmayo870 ya it got quite repetitive. I really wanted the lightblade sniper but grinding that shit is more tedious than characters. I’m glad I realized early on that it’s greedier than warframe and destiny combined
@lmayo870 the difference is the banana game is a scam where you click one button for skins and is played by mostly literal bots farming for those skins. Descendant is filled with actual people who are playing the game. Comparing Descendant, destiny 2, and warframe steam charts and the reason why d2 players aren't up in arms while warframe player is becomes pretty clear...one of them is scared of competition taking players away.
@@Xorn4359 i'm just saying that high player count doesnt equal a good game in my opinion, if you like the first descendant then good for you I'm glad that you do
@lmayo870 I think if it was truly bad it would have had an anthem level opening day with the people who play it dunking on how bad it is. As far as I can tell the only people trying to pretend the game is an anthem level catastrophe hasn't played the game and is more interested in enforcing a narrative. While the people who play it say it's good just needs to work on some audio mixing, lip syncing, and it's microtansaction rates while not the worst could be a bit better.
Ive been enjoying this game but damn this games can do better, like an open map with only FOUR people in it, boss with 3 healthbar and everytime you remove one they grows 3 ballsacks above their health, and the giant bosses have time limit to kill it… i beat shadow of erdrtree with no summons (unless its for npc quests) and im still having fun with the bosses and this game feel like a chores when fighting those giants bosses.
I think "it can do better" perfectly sums the game up. And those balls were absolutely terrible, the bosses can be fun but other times they can be questionable
I simply want to shoot things and progress to shoot more things, hear the things go pop and ping! in the menus and spend some time playing. Bunny is enjoyable, I don't want another character unless they're fast. I will continue playing until the end, if i hit a wall or get bored. A measly 350 hours in Warframe and D2, it's simply something new to play and i havent felt like i needed to give them money yet as the prices are ridiculous and i don't think the game is good enough to warrant any of it.
I can see why this game appeals to you, it does feel very fast (except for the downtime in between killing enemies for an objective). I guess I just wanted a little bit of substance so that everything isn't a big blur, but I hope you keep playing the game and have fun while doing so
I'm blown away by this dislikes. I guess people can't get enough of endless load screens for moving literally anywhere. And don't forget the cash shop. Aw, man! 250? Just short of the 300 I need! Shucks... >.>
You're right about the shop, awful. Though, my loading times are 10 seconds for albion to start, 5 to 8 seconds for maps, pretty much instant for fast travel within map
Thought I was the only one with loading screen issues lol good to know there are others out there. I guess people just don't like my opinion on the game and I'm supposed to say that it's the best thing since sliced bread
I like buildcrafting, and i think it has some potential there the sad truth is games come out half baked to see if they can grab people then improvements come along the way of the dev keeping up with patches and updates with some more interactive content i can see this game doing well for a bit im only 40 hrs in and i cant say i can give it a full review until hard more end game content I purely like the game because I like to grind
Honestly if you like to grind then I can see why you would like this game so much. I also like to play grindy games, but this game just wasn't doin it for me. Glad you enjoy the game though, and definitely enjoy it while it lasts lol
It’s just a fresh looter shooter with new content. Idk I like this better than any borderlands game. I also enjoy grinding Korean games like bdo etc. idk warframe went star rail direction which killed it for me. It’s not the best new game ever but it’s something new to sink your teeth in for a week or two 🤷
Fair enough, a mindless grinding game can be enjoyable I understand that for sure. But in my opinion the combat has to be good to compensate for its mindless grinding, which I don't believe is the case. The combat is just below average for me, but by all means I hope you keep playing and enjoying the game
depend on player, i like warframe but it look old due to animation and other stuff, but the first descendant look more new gen and have actual female ,pretty female
A little bit of back ground before opening this dialog. I have over 2000h in warframe and over 4000h in destiny i played warframe and destiny both when they first started and remember how they started. In the first descendant im on hard mode i have multiple max levels and ultimate's. so the first thing i want to address is the shooting i personaly dont think its any less lack luster than warframes and warframe started with 2 tile sets 1 frame and weapons that didnt sound all that great. Descendant wise ajax is not a great choice but also the done blocks projectiles its actually good for clutch revives in void intercepts. I play gley Lepic Kyle and Freyna they all have very different playstyles that create different loops so i do kinda wonder if it might be ajax for you. I also cant compare this game to Destiny just because destiny is a FPS while the first descendant in TPS so fundamentally how you interact with the game world is going to be different. Like asking a TPS to have as tight of shooting as an FPS seems rather off. Im not going to defend the story i actually payed attention to it and its not great but i do find the name jab to be rather off cause greg is a tutorial boss and the actual name of the boss of that dungeon is something like sapaou. Ultimate can be crafted and aren't hard to craft you do not have to spend 100$. Microtransactions....... as far as progress goes i havnt needed to buy a single thing everything you can buy that isnt a cosmetic is craftable, and before any one talks about prices i just want to remind people of prime access which the complete prime access cost 139$. Why do i play the first descendant i find the loop of what i need to be doing simple and refreshing. I cant tell you why some one would leave destiny 2 or warframe if they have been playing for the first descendant but i can say that the new player experience for first descendant is far better than for warframe or destiny. I personally quit warframe sometime ago due to the high number of bugs and constant abandoning of ingame content but i have no plans to stop playing destiny i can just play both.
You make some good points here sir, hats off to you. And I agree that Ajax was not a very good character choice, and I would've probably enjoyed someone else. But I still think the gameplay and combat isn't very satisfying. I was comparing slightly to destiny because it has some similar systems (i.e. three weapon choices and paints) but in terms of gameplay, it's wayy closer to warframe no doubt about that. I've said this before in other comments but I've come to realize that combat fluidity isn't as objective as I thought it was and that's okay, I just personally found TFD's combat to be even more lackluster than others in the genre. I will also admit that TFD has an infinitely better tutorial than WF, but that's also not really too hard to beat cause WF doesn't teach new players anything. I don't know how bad the grind is to unlock ultimate descendants, but I personally like WF's relic and trading system to get prime items (maybe I'm biased). And trust me, Greg was only the beginning of bland names because there are more and if I were you I'd be glad I didn't pay attention to the story. If you enjoy this game then by all means keep playing it, this comment was pretty insightful and I appreciate the second point of view
@@lmayo870 Combat fluidity is always a tough one cause it is very subjective with an oddly high number of objective factors in it. Im not sure if you played it but Outriders actually feels much closer in gamplay loop to TFD than warframe does
Ive maxed out 3 characters and am Mastery rank 13... It doesnt get any better up here lol im probably going to drop it to go back to warframe pretty soon. Its like warframe+Destiny+the absolutely worst farming and monetization mechanic known to mankind. But Nexon does what Nexon does.
yeah I thought that it wouldn't be so hard to imagine what the game looks like later on lol, I'm sorry you had to experience the game for that long but thanks for the input i appreciate it
Well, I didn't play a lot of Destiny or Warfare. Tried Warhammer, got bored way quicker than this one. Idk. It's something different. I'm about where you were. Imma give it a couple more days. I definitely see what everyone doesn't like.
i am 100% in the same boat as you... 4/10 and thats being generous... i will defend it on this tho... its not pay 2 win... buying anything in the game gives you no advantage over other players...
@@lmayo870 oh hell yeah... i showed some of my warframe buddies who have yet to see the game, the shop... and they said 100 for cosmetics is the dumbest thing ever... that 5k pack needs to be 3 and the 3k pack needs to be like 2 tops... They were further dumbfounded by how buying 1 thing of paint means you can only use it 1 time that its a consumable in game that you pay for with real money... i could handle warframe palettes but because they didnt i refuse to spend any money in this game im debating finishing the campaign just to see endgame but ive read from so many sources its not even worth it... like it doesnt get better it actually gets worse which is just a shocker to me...
Man I am totally with you, this game sucks in every aspect. It is a shallow mess with 0 originality and it really isn't worth anyone's time. Warframe has some similar issues, but at least has a solid foundation of story and gameplay and other redeeming aspects that make that game times better. However there will always be demon slayer fans that will see a game that has big booba characters and then praise it. Abhorrent experience, doesn't help that it mines your GPU and sells data to 3rd party data brokers. In the case of this Nexon mess this phrase is extremely true: "if the product is free then you're the product".
Can't be any more correct than this comment. I just don't know what makes this game unique, and people have said that the gameplay is smooth and snappy however I couldn't disagree more. But who knows, maybe in a couple of updates this game could be somethin special.... Or not cause its nexon
@@lmayo870 Recently I've been enjoying Remnant 2 again, and I think that it can, amongst other things, be considered a looter shooter as well. It is a project by gunfire games that takes a lot of inspiration from other souls like games, but it *IMPROVES* upon those borrowed aspects and creates something that is reminiscent, yet unique. TFD just doesn't do that. It takes pre-existing ideas from Warframe, Destiny, Division, and just makes them worse. Like even the stolen modding system lacks any sort of ingenuity and depth. Its an amalgamation of the worst aspects of the previously mentioned games.
I do prefer warframe to this game, but I'm not saying that people should quit this game to go play an alternative. I want to know WHY people find this game fun and open the comments for a discussion yknow what I mean
Well, let's be honest... Destiny and Warframe had years to get where they are now. TFD has potential... let's see where it goes. I mean it's free - so what's to lose?
To me the game truly doesn't feel as undesirable, as far as the generic names I hope it gets better as the game is translated post creation, so many bad translations. As far as the leveling being "boring" I can agree BUT it to me is no different to having to do the star chart in warframe in order to unlock the cool fun stuff you just gotta push through the story of both of theses games to get to the fun stuff, I would personally argue that the star chart is much more lack luster and boring than this games progression atleast you get through zones quick and get cool/fun colossus fights. But at the end of the day the game is new so I do hope they aim to improve progression as at the moment it feels kinda unrewarding unless you have a specific goal in mind such as a weapon, descendant, etc.
Progressing through the star chart is inherently repetitive that is true, but I've always thought that warframe's incredible movement and fluid combat made up the lack of variety in the star chart. In my opinion the first descendant's gameplay just doesn't feel good and definitely doesn't compensate for it's repetitive-ness. And I could just be biased on this, but warframe's story is a lot more engaging and entertaining. But I respect yoyr opinion regardless, and I'm glad you enjoy this game. Thanks for the input friend :)
@@lmayo870 I think it's your personal taste. I (for example) did NOT find Warframe to be "fluid" at all. Honestly i found this game to be the same amount of clunky and unpolished. Destiny 2 was super polished but was missing the fast paste gameplay of Warframe/TFD. Funny you mention Borderlands for example. I personally never understood that game. Never liked the (gun-) gameplay and so it never clicked for me. So in that sense, you see, people feel different about games i guess. I can tell you what i like about TFD. It's F2P, it's fast paste, i play Bunny right now, so it's even more fast then usual, guns feel good for the most part, grappling hook, everything is quickly finished, graphics are nice, boss fights are interesting enough and instead (compare character design to to western games nowadays) being surrounded by ugly characters everywhere, it's hot chicks with guns! What's there not to like about? Now i might get bored over the coming weeks or months ( that just happens with games, it's normal), but for now, i'm having fun and had no barrier to entry. So worst case i got some fun for free.
@@MianoraStonecrow totally respectable opinnion, and you're right I suppose this game isn't for me and thats okay. I just thought that I would enjoy this game cause it has elements that I (potentially) find appealing. I suppose there isn't an objectively "fluid" combat system as you've pointed out, and now that I think about it it does make sense to look at it in a subjective point of view. Personally, I always thought that over using female characters is a cheeky way to gain revenue but I totally understand why they do lol. I hope you continue to enjoy playing the game though, and thanks for your insight I really appreciate it!
that's 100% true I'm not disagreeing with you on that, I guess warframe just felt different from other games at the time whereas TFD feels like any other looter shooter out there
The only thing that this game has in common with destiny is loot drops so y is it called a destiny copy lol feels nothing like destiny but warframe of corse it does that is a much better comparison
Crying about a game that is almost 1 to 1 when it comes to character progression and obtaining but you praise warframe even tho its been out for years compared to a game thats been out for a week and talking about combat being boring but once again bringing up warfame, warframe is quite possibly the most boring combat besides eidolon hunts. And the monetization is practically the same as WF to just costs a little more which btw evrything besides cosmetics is obtainable for free. And 10 hours of playing you havent expierenced anything. Hell you not even to the grind yet. Steam shouldnt let people review a game with less than 40 hours , but hey i guess good on you , you got a comment and a view outta me.
@@sinchuf3367 both games are good you probably just dont have the time or lack of dedication to actually invest time into good games. But we all have our likes and dislikes. And player bases on both games beg to differ compared to over half the new games that are out that are already dead and have been released in at least the last two years.
After reading and responding to comments talking about how warframe's combat isn't good, I've realized that not everyone has the same opinion as me when it comes down to combat fluidity and that's okay. Maybe I've been playing too much warframe and I'm biased, but their marketing is different compared to TFD. And trading is definitely one of the biggest factors as to why I think WF handles it's monetization relatively well. I only played 10 hours because that's how long I could bear, and this isn't review, it's a rant on why I couldn't invest any more time into the game. And honestly it isn't too hard to imagine what the later levels has to offer and the grind is pretty easy to imagine as well. If you enjoy the game then by all means keep playing, I just want to figure out why people are finding this game fun
FD is so bad compared to warframe. Story is as s comparitively. Movement is as s comparatively. Gunplay is as s comparitively. Abilities are lackluster and shallow. Literally all any bossfight comes down to is building enough health and damage to stay close to a boss and hold left click. Warframe's monetization is leaps better simply because the premium currency can be traded amongst the players. The performance is terrible, especially compared to warframe's.🤡🤡🤡 You thought you had something, didn't you?
I got 40 hours into the game, mastery rank 12 and two chars to 40 and one to 30 before uninstalling. I realized early on this games entire purpose was to suck all the money out of you that they can get away with. The one item you NEED to progress your frame is the one to add capacity to your suit, you can farm the resources about 1-2 zones after you need it or you can spend $20 bucks NOW to avoid having a bad time. The warframe equivalent (yes direct comparison because this game is a direct clone of warframe and destiny but a worse version of both) costs $1.25 (or 63 cents if you get the plat on a discount, which is all the time). 20-30 times more expensive. I will just keep playing warframe, a much much better game that is truly ftp.
As a F2P who has reached end game and play long enough, I can tell you that farming for Cataylst or Activator is quite easy which both helps with capacity. No reason to buy them at all unless you want to progress through quickly. The grind in particular isn't that bad but it requires the amount of luck since it can be annoying for you to get those items which is no different compared to other games. I already have ultimate Jax and crafted 5 more catalyst and 2 more activator after the free ones, gameplay still gives me the incentive to keep playing as it gives me the goal to do since I really have enjoyed and helping people. If comparing warframe and TFD, IMO TFD has an much easier grind because of how drop rates are high and how fast you can solo about almost anything.
Depending on the game I love to farm for crafting mats or some other prize. 4k hours in Warframe and 2k in D2 among other games so yeah I enjoy it. I guess for me if I did not find the missions and the game loop so boring and repetitive I would have a different outlook on it. So yeah. I try to support games I enjoy to play by spending some cash but when they seem so egregious and predatory I want nothing to do with it anymore. Guess that's just me.
@@mrdcramer Every grind game will always be reptitive and I enjoy that, especially when it comes to Free to play MMO games, you can always expect some form of predatory monetization of the game.
In my opinion, warframe released 10 years ago and still called it self an "open beta" game, which mean they were promising updates and changes. The first descendant straight up came out as a full release title, meaning they could just drop the game if they wanted to
@@lmayo870it is a huge difference im 100h in now and theres a lot more to explore, modes to farm, descendants to build in many different ways, you actually have to pay nothing at all u get everything for free once u got into hardmode content and have discovered the various methods of obtaining new items
