Keith Melton, the President of Cane Masters and a Senior Master of the Cane demonstrates one cane self-defense movement that may be unstoppable when your life is threatened and you have no chance of retreating safely. The rapid two-strike technique draws the attention of the attacker to the lower strike and leaves him open to the overhead strike. Together they make for an effective combination that may save your life and allow you to retreat safely and contact the authorities. Remember, your goals is never to hurt someone, but to allow time to withdraw to a place of safety and contact the authorities.

I love you man thanks for all them years of being sane. Some retired law enforcement people let that pistol ownership go to their head. One retired officer shot a kid for using his telephone to text during the movie.. to see somebody that was in that field get all the way to being retired and deciding that he could carry a cane and smack somebody with it, instead of just jumping up with the standard second amendment I had to had to had to speech really makes me happy. Who knows someday you and I may be walking down the street and get a pitbull or two off of somebody.

@@markmcgoveran6811 If you watched the retired officer’s trial you realize there was a lot more to it. A disagreement that is verbal often can turn physical in an instant. Retired law enforcement are nothing special. Everyone is carrying these days. Legally or illegally. The cane is great but like a baton or open handed skills it can only take you so far. Carry both.
@markmcgoveran6811

@@graywind4326 I don't need the details of the trial. It doesn't matter what lot more to it that you want to dish up and try to explain how you favor somebody or disfavor or whatever you think I missed in the details let's boil it out like an engineer that's what I am an engineer mathematician train to simplify complicated electricity praying to simplify complicated equations. I'm sorry to point out with the definition of the word officer is roughly meaning you are special enough to hold an office. Were you saying something about the officer of the Court not being special about the judge he's an officer of the Court as well is he special? Damn right they both are. And then when they are no longer in the officer they might have a difficult time understanding that they're not a pig anymore and they can't go out there and get by with all of the pig things that the pig office allows the pig to get by with. So the pig is sitting here with his pistol and proud of all of his training proud of all of his experience proud because he's every wonderful thing that every gun owner in America worships and looks up to.escalate to murder over a telephone in a movie theater. I don't really see what more there is to the case this guy let his job go to his head and his overloaded ego kills the man. Have you ever heard of the term escalation the guy is using a cell phone minding his own business the officer pig instantly escalates to I'm dominating you verbally stop doing what you were doing I'm dominating you verbally and then probably it escalated to verbal and then it escalated to physical and then it escalated to a shooting and who did all of the escalating officer pig. You have something in common with officer pig that I do not have in common with officer pig. I will not discharge a weapon in a crowded place. If you are an active shooter and you have a weapon I will not discharge a weapon in a crowded place full of screaming people fleeing. I'll claim the moral high ground here officer pig is nothing special I'm nothing special you're nothing special the only moral high ground I got is I know that about all three of us and any of us can shoot and miss. 240 lbs of completely adrenaline charged mentally ill misfit is going to grab that guy from behind or from in front if he sees me and turns toward me or whatever it takes but either I'm going out with the other people who were hitting the back and I'm going to be shot in the face or the front because I'm not going to go out like that. Me and that guy are going to wrestle for that gun I don't care we're going to have to have it out and if he can get it away from me and eliminate me I can live with that. I can't live with emptying my clip hit him every time, but a round goes through his arm and hits a kid behind him. I can't live with that I'm too smart I've got too much education I know too much mathematics and I know for a fact who took a risk when he started shooting in that crowded place I did. The risk of hitting a bystander is unacceptable. I couldn't use a cane in this situation because I need my hands free. I don't blame you I don't blame officer pig for your lack of morality your lack of education and your lack of reluctance to take a risk firing a firearm in a crowded place the judge can decide on you but I guarantee you one thing I'm not going to shoot anybody over a cell phone I don't care what you say happened it started over the cell phone.

@@CaneMasters-WalkingCanes I agree. The clavicle is exremely painful when struck sharpley. The head can be missed too easily, with a glancing blow. I'm a crippled poor person. Not too old, but not so young. The big 60. I'm going to save up and by one of the least expensive canes that you make. I have always known intuitively that the cane would be an awesome self-defense weapon but not the ones that I am currently using. I have an aluminum CVS cane that is shock corded to break down into four or five pieces. It wouldn't stand up to anything. It barely stands up to me walking with it.

I can't possibly justify the money these canes cost. Most reasonable one I saw was 75 bucks. I cut ash, oak and hickory and make my own. Before that I purchased a cattleman cane from my local farm supply for 13 dollars, solid oak, they also had American hickory. I'm sure these guys have nice canes but for my money it's function not fluff that does it for me. Be safe and stay blessed!
@Omarateastwind

For the poor folks: I went to my local charity thrift shop and found 2 old wooden canes for a couple bucks each. Both are oak, and after I made a couple of modifications, they are both serious weapons. Modifications: sharpened the hook like so many fighting canes, and did a good sanding to remove old finish and applied my own. Looks great and will get the job done.

@@williamjarvis3473I, too, got a great and cheap but unadorned cane at Tractor Supply Co. But, I have ordered from Cane Masters, too. I myself wouldn't describe their options as "fluff." On the contrary, they add real value by making the cane a much less comfortable experience for the would-be attacker. They definitely add not only cost but value. I especially like the "shark's teeth" that hamper anyone trying to take my cane from me. If they're too costly for someone's budget that's unfortunate. But, IMO, those who do have the spare change can use it to good advantage by investing in a Cane Master's cane.

Similar to Chen short staff. (N1 attacker)Stick up ,roll anti clockwise to disarm the bad guy, jab to stomach, continue movement to face smash upwards with handle, handle comes down in a clockwise to parry ( N2 attacker) any side attack. Then double punch N1 (one hand with the handle) Repeat circle against N2 side attack then hook across your front N1 (to deflect kick) Step forward and full circle strike back of head N2. Large horizontal circle to bring stick to your left side N3 , spin stick to release bad guy grip and step and jab stomach. Spin stick to under the arm (deflect kick) N1/N2 then hold vertical and 360 turn with jab to stomach N4. Full overhead strike N1, low block, turn hit low then high, upwards strike in opposite direction N3/4 and jab to face. Double strike again behind N1 then thrust N4. Double vertical circles both sides then full overhead strike N3, side step and strike low N1. Spin stick and body 180 to deflect any attack, repeat for left side. Stand with stick as normal and make a circle with the base to disarm or throw ( anyone still standing 🤣) stick to your left, stand tall and overhead full smash to head. Both hands holding the stick , right hand goes high to deflect follow up with disarming spin of the base and both hands holding push like a bar. Turn to vertical push then full swing around your back and grip with left hand. Overhead strike, spin and repeat. Pull back then jab low, BIG spinning attack (may need to jump over a body ) spin handle and step back as you circle the stick under your arm

Hello Keith, I'm 70 years old and I'm dealing with a potentially life threatening illness. In the "demonstration strikes" on your son you show the strikes hitting a tactically positioned cane. In real life where should theses strikes land? I am only guessing... but I suspect the first strike (upward blow) is meant to strike the groin area???... and the second (downward blow) is meant to strike the collar bone or shoulder area??? Could I get your explanation on these strikes.

The strikes depend on where you want to land them. It also depends on which technique you are comfortable with. The intensity and momentum also matters.

Fencers measure time not in fractions of a seconds, but in tempos. This is basically a two tempo cut/strike combination, which has the problem that it's easy to parry and very openly signaled - not to mention you can step back out of it. Also, an attacker with a knife or similar weapon can just step into the attack, which will rob it of most of its strength, while thrusting at the same time. It's not badly executed, but I don't think it's as effective as advertised - and it's most certainly not "unstoppable", because no attack is.
@StephanieSoressi
@StephanieSoressi 2 года назад
Uh, I'm assuming you intend everyone to know that usually an attacker wouldn't be holding a cane of his own already in the defense posture, and that instead of aiming for his cane, you are implying an aim for the family jewels immediately followed by a whack upside the head? And then perhaps moving toward safety?

Men and even boys instinctively and quite effectively guard the groin. So, I'd suggest feinting toward the groin but striking some other target, such as the knee or shin. Limbs are good targets because a good strike will cause great pain and very possibly break the bone. In any case, that limb will likely be incapacitated for a time, thereby breaking up the attack and letting you escape.

I discovered that when after a summer of troubles, I had no attacks or attempts with two ski poles in the winter and so I carry one of those or a cane when there's no other reason for it. I carry it normally, use it like it's a walking stick and it works. Maybe there's someone or several going to fight anyhow, but hey, I went from several attacks or attempts to zero summer and winter, twice forgot to take one and during one of (those) walks there was another attempt. Okay there is definitely some value in using a cane for self-defense. I do have some credentials and experience but I guess I won't go into that here. But for sure your guard hand should be higher and blocking your head because that's where attackers are most likely going to strike. There is something else to be very concerned about which is bladed weapons. Proper use of the cane could neutralize the threat of the blade weapon. But you have to be aware of it. Most criminals will not carry two blades so that's good. You have the range in this case and you should strike that hand hard. And then probably strike at the head. In my experience in fighting and also fighting Sports it is extremely important to have two hands active. In other words even if you're carrying a bag of groceries in your offhand it can be extremely effective to draw attention and to block some of the threats. It's for this reason that I absolutely suggest that you try to get that hand active in some way even if it's a smaller item it can still help an awful lot. To be honest with you in a real fighting situation striking with your empty hand is not a good idea today. There are diseases and the first thing that's going to happen when you strike someone's face with your hand as you're going to cut your hand all up with their teeth. This is the reason I think it's very important to have anything in your hand at all to strike with any Hard instruments. And of course I'm completely with you in the idea that this is a situation that where you have to fight for your life not a situation where you could withdraw. Better to withdraw better to jump into the bus or the Metro or a taxi cab and get out of there. But if you're waiting for that and it's not there and they're approaching you ....you got to do what you got to do

If you're attacked, there ought to be some advantage to being old and stove up. In California, if you don't have a documentable medical need for a cane, it's an illegal weapon.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. It's true that laws regarding self-defense tools like canes vary by location, and it's important for individuals to be aware of local regulations. However, the techniques taught in the video are focused on self-defense and empowerment, emphasizing the importance of using any available means to protect oneself in a dangerous situation. If you have concerns about legality, it's always a good idea to consult with legal experts or authorities in your area.

I can't tell you how angry this sort of elder abuse makes me! if these jerks show up consistently your local police might be interested in meeting them. Your state may have specific laws concerning elder abuse. Since the park is a public place, it's probably legal (I'm not an attorney and so I can't share legal advice) for you to record video using a small hidden camera. You can share the video with the public, with police, with the park administrator, etc. Just a random thought. Some pet stores will rent their dogs. Consider renting a really BIG dog and let the dog get acquainted with your tormentors--up close and personal. Let them know the big dog's likes and dislikes--such as interrupting your walk and that of your little dog. A friend could handle RAMBO on a leash while you walk your smaller friend.

Is the heavier the cane the better for a stronger strike? Do they make solid steel or brass tips instead of all rubber tips for canes? So that just rubber is at the bottom for traction? Or how do you feel about a hammer style handle? I had a spinal injury and depending how bad I’m hurting I switch between a cane and a walker. Crime and mentally ill people are becoming a problem where I’m at and I’m not as mobile as I used to be so Ive been looking at different canes.
@CaneMasters-WalkingCanes
@CaneMasters-WalkingCanes 11 месяцев назад
Hi there! Yes, the weight matters but it is also important to have a strong and hard wood type like Hickory. We offer copper tip which is optional. We don't have a hammer style handle/crook. You can email us at info@canemasters.com if you need anything else.
@hagiasmos314
@hagiasmos314 10 месяцев назад
A little physics: The kinetic energy of a strike is directly proportional to the mass (basically, the weight) of the cane times the SQUARE of the velocity of the cane. So, speed is MUCH more important than mass. If the mass slows the strike it's counterproductive. So, generally speaking, you want a relatively light cane--one that you can easily maneuver and one that you can use to strike at the highest possible speed. So, start light and add weight until you can tell that the weight is slowing your strikes. The previous cane is the one to choose.

if your old you won't have the strength or flexibility to defend or attack.. Plus fear would kick in...We need techniques which engage muscles that are used most often.. self defence isnt just picking up a cane and going for it... I was a builder and if I said to you grab a hammer and nails a hit this and hit that..That won't make a house😐😐😐
