It would have been good if you would have spread out along that Ridge instead of just focusing that road from the town. Albeit, it didn't thwart him that you did focus the road. He simply pushed you out of the hardest position to take. On both sides of that town is a dominating High ground with should be impregnable. It was interesting to see your opponent go headstrong into the breach and be successful. Putting anti-tank guns along that Forest would likely have saved your line. When someone's being that aggressive it's best to Turtle up on his advance and let him burn resources.

If someone is that aggressive I really should have attacked somewhere. I could have relieved the pressure and forced him to redirect troops
@R.Specktre
@R.Specktre Год назад
@@atkpwrgaming There is that possibility, as well. Y'all locked jaws on each other like a couple of pits and fought in one place for the most part. That road is usually the death knell of the attacker though. Good effort.

The only things I know about this game are things I've got from watching your and Vulcan's vids. I don't know much about the game other than watching quite a few vids, so it's entirely possible I can't see what your overall strategy was let alone the tactical plan of how to achieve it simply because of that lack of knowledge. Which leads me to some questions: I don't understand why you are pushing into him when things have settled during A when: - he's the one with the better armour to start (at least you were saying T-34s would be a major problem) - has +5 income during phase A (and +40 in Phase B) - bunching up in the centre simply gave him even more target-rich zones for his bombers. If you're NOT bleeding tickets AND have the lower income, why not pull back from the edge of the ridge and punch things in the face as they try to push onto the hill? You weren't in a position to advance, so what were you gaining by making targets of your units? I get that you need to prevent those flags on/near the ridge from turning, but I do wonder whether that could have been achieved such that as soon as whatever tried topped the ridge it got hammered by a bunch of your stuff sitting safely back as a gun line while some infantry right in closer maintained the flags. It seems to me when HIS income is about to jump to 30 greater than your own, YOUR losses in A are more damaging than his as HE has the greater capacity to replace them with that extra income. Losing those ATGs in the centre at around 9:40 was an unfortunate consequence of using fast move from deployment vs using an intermediate movement target on your side of the trees. The stupid things just tried to drive around the front of the forest. It's a shame the movement AI doesn't grasp the idea that a route is only faster IF YOU REACH the destination. With needing to look everywhere at once, that 'movement computer routine' being so mindless is something of a curse. A system that helps players a bit more, being able to take into account what is known as the units are moving, would make that sort of thing much easier to avoid. It's pretty annoying to have to micro units so they don't drive into an obvious death. Not for one second am I saying I know better, not at all. I'm asking questions so I can understand more. Bought the game late last year during sales. Lots of fun, lots to understand. Thanks for sharing these vids, they're both entertaining and also great ways to learn things about the many, many parts to this game. Cheers!

Yeah no worries thanks for asking! So even when on balanced it’s important to try to capture flags. Every flag you capture means they need to recapture or push harder somewhere. AI getting your stuff killed is just part of the game it happens haha truthfully I wasn’t playing that well and have been on quite the crappy run lately. It happens though losing is how you improve

That's why you always should bring in two inf cards in C, one cqc and one long range, otherwise it's really hard to push back. Three inf cards in B is a waste anyway, that's like a thousand points worth of infantry out of 1300 points income

I'll try to analyze this match a bit to hopefully give you an idea of what went wrong exactly. Please accept this as a friendly advise. I know you're invested in SD2 and seeing failure is annoying, but please try to be calmer, even during those live recordings. At 2:06 the transport bumped into the 233, forcing it to restart aiming - just a curious thing I noticed. At 2:09 unloading the MG 42 out in the open is a bad idea. As is doing the same with the flamers (particularly if you're not gonna use their smoke). When you noticed he beat you to town you should've retreated those 3 transports back to your hill. Unload MG 42 in the treeline, maybe use flamers elsewhere. At 2:40 you overreact spending way to many points on reinforcements to the right flank. All he managed to bring to your treeline is 1 jeep, likely a flamer. The other units stopped well short (and you managed to destroy one halftrack, right as you whine about not hitting anything). A single Stosstrupp to deal with flamer and single PzGren for range deterrence would be sufficient. Those Stosstrupp then end up sitting in a forest blind and not firing a shot until end of battle. It's only 90 seconds into the match (at 2:50) that you take a look at the left flank, where your troops (PzGren, Fuhrer and Pak 38) are missplaced, having no line of sight. You say he did not move where you wanted him to, but if he did you'd be screwed - the Pak 38 was in no position to stop any armored assault on this flank. At 3:08 you see the ZIS-3 pounding your MG 42 (which is still sitting out in the open). You must know the Pak 40 is it's next target. Moving those 2 units and bringing in an arty piece is essential before ZIS-3 does you more harm. At 3:23 you pay for your mistakes - Ognemetchiki were able to freely approach the treeline and engage your PzGren at 100m range and while in full cover. IG 18, on the other hand, get a nice trade against his at gun. You pull in another PzGren squad, but they are a very poor choice to deal with Ognemetchiki in the forrest. You do have flamers of your own, and Stosstrupp, both of which would've been better and are cheaper. I'm actually really surprised Mimile decided to pull in a Pe-2 at 4:08 to kill the Pak 40 and MG 42, the ZIS-3 would easily do the job. Maybe he wanted it done fast. The spread actually made this drop better - bombs landed wider and supressed all the units, which were placed too close together - a mistake on your part. 4:20 you look right at the 233 and IG 18 fighting a Matilda, which they have no business fighting, and you do not bring in any serious AT to support this position. You take another look at this position, floating 105 points, but still no AT call-in. PzGrens arrive on the left flank. You are fairly invested into this flank. When deciding where to bring in your troops you should always think about what do you want them to accomplish. Enemy flag on the left is rather far away - are you willing to push for it, or are you content with just defending your own? 4:55 the 233/IG 18 combo actually deals with Matilda :o That's great, but hoping the PzGrens you pull in the middle will be able to walk across the open ground and reach the crossing the the centre is naive. You have no forces to cover them on this advance. Even just a mortar to smoke off LoS would be decent. Sadly you don't have any in this division. Still, you should seek advantage where it is easiest, not hardest. Finally, you're at 12:12. There is no need for you to even push him. Reinforce your lines, prepare defenses (incl. anti air) and wait to derail his inevitable push when it comes. The 3 Stosstrupp + PzGren kill the flamers at 5:22. As far as I remember, they will not do anything useful for the rest of the game. You order them push across the open ground into a patch of forest which has no flags, has no reinforcement road, is essencially of no importance to this battle - unless you manage to sneak an AT gun in there. Theese Stosstrupp would be better off walking horizontally left beyong the IG 18 and pushing through the forest towards the enemy's flag. The PzGren should stay put and cover the open area with machinegun fire. I'm actually surprised the Stosstrup weren't killed while crossing the open ground. Just at 5:34 you say you're on balanced so you should enjoy the comfort of a long match. There is not reason to push into nowhere when those troops would be useful where they are now. At 5:45 you place the double 20 mm in a spot where it's trying to cover both left flag and the town on the other side of the lake, but is just a double 20 mm - it has neither range nor firepower to prevent air strikes on either of those positions. 6:15 - good job killing the SU-122. Your Pak should immediately move left to avoid another air strike or the Zis-3 finally opening up on it. And here comes the Pe-2. Notice how the double 20 mm, despite both being 2-star, fail to prevent the strike coming almost directly at their position. The one on the left flank won't be able to stop anything. The delayed call in of the 109 will let the Pe-2 escape. The PzGrens die in the open to the Zis-3 you should've artied 3 minutes ago. At 7:08 the Stosstrupp reach the forest and sit there drinking Schnapps for the rest of the match. Lucky bastards! You, on the other hand, could've have at least moved one of them to the edge of the forest, to provide you with recon on reinforcements being brought in via the road nearby. The sIG 33 call-in at 7:29 is a good call. Still, you know his bombers are a threat, and your current AA in this position is unable to prevent them from striking. You're putting this 55 point investment into jeopardy. At 7:40 you call in the PzGrens to close the gap in the middle of the battlefield. You initially want them to setup in the town, but then move them into the forrested area up north. If he has any CQC infantry around they will get demolished. They would serve you better being set up by the flag and mowing any enemy soldiers crossing the open with their MG 42s. After all, if you don't want to push the enemy flag here, all you need is to prevent the enemy from reaching yours. No need to have PzGrens going out in the open. Let's see if they pay for this mistake. At 9:30 you unload both of your AT guns right next to each other, still with insufficient AA in the area. They will get bombed. Mimil is able to push the T-34s beneath the ridgeline breaking line of sight, putting you in a precarious position. You ask what are the AT guns doing. The Pak 40 never had LoS, and Pak 38 got smashed with machinegun fire. Being fired upon from 2 directions by 3 MGs, those 100 points in AT guns disappear even faster than if a plane was to come for them. The sIG gets a really nice shot off, destroying a transport and forcing another to unload early at 9:55. At this point in the match it's understandable that you make mistakes, as anyone would in your position - you're in a bad situation already and have few good ways out of it. The PzGrens at 10:02 do not support your IG 18 in the firefight against the Strelki. IG wins it, but takes unnecessery casualties in the result. Interestingly, the PzGrens at 10:11 seem to have managed to reach the forrest safely, that's lucky. They should however be placed on the opposite ridge of the forrest, so that they can cover the open area in front. Disaster strikes at 10:30 - enemy infantry and tanks climb your ridge just a few hundred meters away fro your Fuhrer and Flak. You're very lucky the 233 kills one of the T-34s with the 1st shot. At 11:45 you pull in another pricey AT gun (Pak 43) into the same place as 3 before it, now actually having even worse AA cover than before. The enemy only managed to destroy one of your 20 mm AA pieces. That's not such a huge issue.
@Haren94
@Haren94 Год назад
Part II: 12:25 - The ISU-122S has 50% base accuracy, and this one is 2-starred. Not so surprising for it to hit both those shots. No bullshit at all. At 13:34 the enemy calls in bombers immediately the second the PaK 43 is noticed. Mimil's reaction time is remarkable. Still, with your 7/1 not yet in position, the Pak is lucky to survive this hit. At 15:30 your 231 and PaK 38 do a very good job at stopping the SU-76I push dead in it's tracks. Sadly, at 15:45 the lone PzGren is all that is holding the fronline on your right flank. It's been there alone for a while now. Too bad the Stosstrupp up north are in no position to help. The 7/1 managed to stop his bomber this time. 16:35 you should be perfectly comfortable with a halftrack spam - your 231s and 233s are the perfect answer to it. And it does get demolished the moment those vehicles arrive. The 231s are also effective against SU-76Is and do a good job against them in this match. At 19:58 it's very minor, but you want to swing StuG around to deal with the halftruck, while right next to it is a faster 231 which is more than capable of doing the job - luckily you actually had it selected, so the StuG is ready to fight the SU-76I. At 22:55 you say you want to 'start hitting other places'. But a) a PaK 40 won't help you much in this endevour and b) you're the balanced income vs a maverick. You don't need to pressure him elsewhere. That's even more true as you admit Mimile is a stronger player, so he presumably should be more comfortable than you managing multiple skirmished across the entire map. As the less experienced / weaker player you should hope to engage all his attention on a single point of the fronline, so that you have a better chance. 23:27 - what 'come on'? The PaK 40 hit and penned the SU-152, it did it's job. But the massive 152 mm round doesn't need to hit very close to kill of the AT gun. It didn't help that your StuG was idling 200 m back for the past 5 minutes. You only pull it up afterwards, but it's too late already. 24:05 calling in a Pionier squad into the middle of an open field won't do them no good. At 26:30 you see your 2 Pionier squads being brought in right under the MG fire of the enemy halftruck. They should unload earlier. At 27:00 they unload in open field unter multiple machine guns and die almost immediately. I don't really have the patience nor time to analyze the rest of the video, I already spent like over an hour on it. I hope I managed to show you that you get annoyed at the wrong things and that there were multiple mistakes, both small and big, which led to the outcome of this battle - aside from Mimile being a superior player.

Because not applying any pressure allows your opponent to do whatever they want and call in any support they need. Capturing one flag means now he needs to capture two redirect troops away from his main attack. Balanced can’t always mean defensive

Well with live gameplay it’s gonna happen. I’m not gonna be happy about it. Fact is I put a lot of time into this game, so it is very frustrating when I get smacked down. And what a lot of people misunderstand is that even if I’m saying things about my opponent or my luck, the thing that is annoying me most is myself. For me if I’m putting time into something I’m trying to be the best at it, so at this point in my SD2 “career” I get really pissed at myself when I get absolutely rolled
