This despite the elderly lady owner telling him to let go of her label and stop taking down her details and stop noting the address down for later burglary. I witnessed and interfered with an asian guy doing this on the way to Gatnick airport. Ooh he’s a student doing a survey, small world innit? That was years ago, …so much for the transport police.

As a bloke who works on Rail replacement and is a former Surveyor in Market Research for those individuals to be genuine.....1) He would only ask how you paid for your ticket and note it and possibly your boarding and alighting points -BY LAW Information can only be a person not which person undertook which journey for statisical research i.e. 45 passengers travelled Stratford to Gidea Park -NOT who they are etc 2) He would have to prove he was a member of The Market Research Soceity AND whom he is employed by with his Companies Telephone Number-This MUST be given if requested 3) He would NOT be in a position to charge you a fare as he is NOT an authorised RPI (Revenue Protection Inspector) . I'm glad you saw through them..I hope they get on a train that i'm on ...they will soon be in a lot of trouble 😃😃
If they're daft enough to try that stunt on a train I'm on I'll be offering them out at the next station and performing a citizens arrest then calling the police.
Don't you tap your card on a yellow scanner to get to your train anyway? How do you know these private companies aren't nicking your data and using your card details? Can't believe you'd fall for that frankly.
@@tavaiusw.9560 TfL do have inspectors with card readers, yes. In uniform though, & not some Indian scammers 😅. I nearly got fined by them for the cheeky beer on the train one time 😃.

The only time I ever was a victim of debit card fraud, was after my card was cloned at an independent petrol station owned and operated by Indians! From then on, I used supermarket petrol stations, no problems since!

Good on ya ! If it's a survey, then ask your questions. You don't need to scan anyone's card for a survey. Take their photos and send it to the Transit Police.

Yes, to ask for a bank card is definitely a scam, he is a thief, the card had been used to buy a ticket, it would never be asked for again. Ticket inspectors do not ask for bank cards, the only have limited rights to check tickets. Similar incident for me on the heathrow stopping train, when I got off and called a police officer they were gone, they were also asian. Never trust a caller named john smith with a strong asian accent on the phone from bank or online retailer.

Why didn’t you complain? A while back a few Indians were working at the forecourt and they were scamming customers. Eventually they got caught and sacked. Law in our country is an ass✌🏼❤️

A: Surveys are done online and through the data on Ticket purchases, B: they certainly wouldn't dress like that as they would be representatives of the company involved C: unlikely they Actually identified themselves properly ( I can wear a named badge, doesn't mean I work for anyone )D: An ex or currently operating employee sold them equipment who claimed it were stolen, but then hacked for nefarious reasons, E: if they were legit they would not have left the scene! @@boofuu3145 yep me too , I work in security the new scanners can read a card at over 5 feet away if it's got a booster signal on it , can literally walk in a shopping center , even hear a story of a fake homeless guy just sitting at shop doors collecting data on a WiFi boosted scanner.. be careful out there

They both stunk of fraud, good on you for firstly spotting their antics and then videoing them and sharing this type of fraud. How many people might get sucked into this, quite a few probably.
Hello, I know this is in retrospect, however I work with chip and pin devices and there's a code number on the chip and pin device called an MID number which is tracked back to the bank (merchant). The person would have to apply for a bank machine and the funds would have to be processed and sent to a bank account. I realise you don't have the MID but you're halfway there with videoing the encounter. If anyone is watching this, they could request the MID and video the whole encounter and then send it to the police. You are basically doing a lot of ground work for the police. Good for you for clocking the scammer and I hope now more people are vigilant to this sort of fraud.
True but a harvesting scanner just needs to read your card send it via free wifi to their operations centre who use the details to make purchases and to sell on
@@firsteerr A couple of things: in my comment above, I was clearly giving the conman too much credit by being honest enough to acquire a chip and pin device through legitimate means. Second, the suggestion of a rfid/chip and pin data harvester is incredibly sinister. Shame on them!
You made a very good point. On buses this type of thing gets carried out as they pull up roadside. If a mode of transport requires you to mainly scan through an access barrier then why would this be necessary? Especially at 11pm at night.
This is why you all should use wallets etc that are shielded to protect your bank cards from being scanned unobtrusively by some criminal. Cheap as chips on Amazon, used the scanner at work to see if it works - out of the wallet scans fine , inside the wallet, not a sausage !

Great update. Very dodgy dudes they were. Like you say, you dont carry card scanners to do a survey. Well done for standing your ground and having the thought to film. Probably worth reporting as if they have gone to so much trouble to scam people, they or friends are probably still at it ✌️
When you said update, I assumed you’d contacted the British Transport Police or TfL and told them what had happened. That would be the obvious and public spirited thing to do. And if there’s a problem, I’m sure they’ll be only too happy to use your video to help catch and prosecute the individuals concerned.
@@paulearle3780 I’ve already commented on his last video that I’m pretty sure they were doing TfL passenger surveys - and so did a handful of others. But he then proceeded to release this second video making the same accusations, without having reported it. So hence my suggestion that he do so.
People have to look out for each other. I was on a subway train in Boston ( USA ) when a conductor stood up in a crowded car, pointed out a man and loudly told the people in the car “THIS MAN IS A PICKPOCKET! MIND YOUR WALLETS!” That man didn’t look too happy and minded his own business.
Always ask to see their photo ID which they are required to carry. Railway Byelaw 24.3. I have declined to show my ticket to uniformed inspectors, who do not have their proper photo ID.

Meanwhile, the genuine inspectors waste time hanging around stations like Ashford, Bexhill and Hastings.. harassing hard working individuals who couldn't buy a ticket from the broken machine on their quiet country station, and couldn't get one on the train.. or grabbing teenagers by the arm who tell them they're under 16, no wonder they're constantly advertising for new employees.. terrible people. The sheer fact they dont have a native accent would make it shocking if anyone at all falls for this scam.

Whilst I appreciate there is a huge possibility that they were fraudsters, I must say this content highlights the shameful prejudice out there . Shocking! I have been scammed twice previously by a Nigerian and a white/ British individual previously as they cloned my card at a petrol station years ago.
