He may have had a very difficult life, but he got to live his last months with the love he deserved. The love he had for people was finally returned to him... with additional snacks to boot. I can only hope my last day, and that of my pound dogs, is as wonderful as his. We'll remember him forever.
Sorry about your little baby. What you did for him was amazing. You gave that boy a better quality of life and dignity. You gave him the love and comfort he needed in his old age.
You did good for him, Lily. He lived his last moments loved beyond imagination. You gave him the best life and death he could have hoped for that that point. Much love and healing from one lost pet owner to another. The hurt doesnt go away, but the love for them only grows to match the hurt tenfold.
I'm so sorry. I've had to make the it's-time-to-end-this decision for several cats and it hurts. Thank you for sharing this part of the story and thank you for taking care of this silly, destructive, loveable, difficult dog.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving that pup a better life, as short as it was Lily. His final memories were of the gentle and loving human. The one who saved him and cared. His passing was in comfort, not in fear. You were both blessed. I recently saved and older pitty from abuse and believe her last 3 months were her best. It matters! 💜💜💜
I am a 51 year old man that has no kids but loves my dogs like my kids. I am crying at how this has worked out. 2 years ago I lost my mother then my 15 year old dog that was born in my hand. I loved that dog so much it killed a little bit of me when I found out she had canser all over her guts and the Dr. put her down on the operating table. I now have 2 puppys that I love and are a giant pain in my ass. but I will always love all the dogs that came before. hold in there dogs are one of the resons I am still alive, so I will have one as long as I live. I love you and all you do, and know there are people out there that feel the way you do about animals.

So sorry for the loss of your baby. Having lived thru taking care of a senior dog with heart failure, it's not a great road to be on. Sounds like you did all you could to give him a better life for the little bit of time he had left. I'm sure he was truly happy with his time with you and grateful you came and got him. Hugs for you and your family for all you do for these senior animals. It's hard having to let them go.

Sorry for your loss, making that decision is never easy, I'm glad he was able to enjoy his final days and pass peacefully. My family had to make that decision a while back when our corgi developed degenerative myelopathy and she lost the use of her hind legs.

I am so sorry for your loss. I can only offer you this. His life was hard but his end of life was filled with love and care. As we have recently lost our Roman nose Bull terrier back in march due to cancer I empathize with you. He however is now pain/ discomfort free and can run with the other dogs now.

I had to put down my rescue pittie earlier this year, she was geriatric when I got her and also was treated for heartworm when she was found at the shelter. No matter how long or short we spend time together, a few months or 4 years, we as owners make the world for these dogs and give them love

Recently had to euthanize my sweet loving Kobes. His quality of life was just awful. His health declined rapidly. I’ve been really broken up over it. I miss my boy so much 😔 Had him since he was born. He lived about 15 years. It never feels like enough time. I wish I had more time with him. I understand the mix of emotions you are going through. Euthanasia is such a heartbreaking decision. Just know in your heart that you did the right thing. You showed him comfort and love in his final months of life. You should feel really good that you did your best and that you did what was right. I’m glad to hear the euthanasia went by peacefully. My sweet Honeybutt Kobe’s went by peacefully too. He just let go. It was a relief to know that he is no longer trapped in his failing body. But it doesn’t lessen the hurt. I miss him daily

You did not get the Disney version of your time with your dog. Luckily he got the softer landing he deserved. Good people do good things for good reasons. He had an ally and knew it. Be prepared - you will do it again most likely.
