I am delighted to hear you follow my blog and when I hear people say that, I want to go and write more about this very funny life we lead. I know others have explained the pronunciation of my name to you and your subscribers! No one outside Ireland can do Irish names. RO-sheen, and the publisher, Currach Press, is pronounced Kurruck Press. (A currach is a small traditional rowing boat, painted black with tar.) All the sketches were done from start to finish on location, as to me that's the best way to enjoy urban sketching! It was indeed very cold but a lot of the sketches were done in January and February of this year because I had a looming deadline and I had not done all the places I had planned to! So that's why everyone is wearing coats and woolly hats :) Luckily for me it didn't rain in those months. It rarely gets above about 28 degrees C here and that would be very unusual, except it's happening more often now (I'm not complaining!). But whatever the temperature outside, the west of Ireland is a natural paradise. It is totally unspoilt and bursting with wildlife, a beautiful, savage coastline and glorious nature, dramatic skies and the nicest people you could meet. Come and see us sometime - but bring a warm coat and a woolly hat!

Nice review and flip through. I saw you interview her in one of your Urban Sketchers videos, as I had just returned from the west of Ireland, I was really looking forward to your review-it did not disappoint.
I saw you got to meet Roisin at the symposium! That had to be nice especially since you follow her blog. I agree with you; the size of the book really complements the sketches and helps bring them to life. They’re very pleasing to look at. Thanks for another great review. The book looks wonderful. So many beautiful sketches. I admire urban sketchers like you and Roisin. I wish I could sketch on location but alas I am too shy and too slow. Maybe someday hopefully.
