I don't know why I prefer chinese martial arts over all other types, it has a different grace in it and it looks brutal and beautiful at the same time.

He uses the bagua stepping of toes and then heel to generate power. Impressive. I am going to learn and test it.

The reason he makes the little step is so that he can release a stronger burst of power (发力 / 发劲). It can be applied in just about every form or Chinese martial arts. If you practice Xing Yi or another form of Chinese matrial arts you can try to do it to understand what I mean... When doing a movement control your energy and power and release it at the very end.

(for instance when punching, don't use all of your power from the moment you start moving your arm, but only at the last few inches before just hitting the target). It's the same principle with the little step. When taking one big step with a lot of power, it's almost impossible to get the explosiveness at the end.

At simple observation , I always thought Xingyiquan was very linear but over time I been seeing how varied and adaptable it could be to any combat situation. Truly an amazing art.

Well, I wouldn't waste my time comparing people publicly unless one was particularly fraudulant. I feel that Master An is very powerful, and I'll keep myself to promoting positives, rather than focussing on other people's negatives. I don't know Master An, nor have I trained with him, but my vote is that this is a real flower of Quan, from whom we can all learn something about correct power generation. Just as we can learn things from other videos.

The short stomp like action is not stomping but the transfer from the back leg to the front. You root through the heels. This action prevents you from an easy uprooting by way of your front leg. There is a moment where all weight is on the back leg as it springs forward and down to the front foot. The arm actions add even more force.

He makes Xingyi look as beautiful and especially deadly as any of the more widely seen arts! His speed and pwer ar amazing. He's the poster boy for XingYi for the young generation.

he does white crane spreads wings very differently. I would like to see the practical use of that move.

i was going to say something similar. i'm no master but it is quite obvious that he is physically in great shape and the power of his movements are coming form his athleticism not his intention. i don't see any body connection.

Real fast and powerful, but not necessarily as coordinated and refined as far as six harmonies go, and I might be full of shit, but it looks like he might be wasting a little power through excessive movement in some areas. Still though, really powerful and i'm sure he can apply it well to opponents.

Stepping with your toe in a cat stance and then stepping again is called Fahjing? I dont think so.

is this traditional? does it have merit as far as being practical to practice this way?? are their dramatic elements added to the set? not making insults just wondering.
@diphyllum8180

This is based on traditional spear fighting. The merits of practicing this way include power generation, focus and structure/stance. Where he's being "dramatic" is just being loose and flowy on some of the transitions. Any of these moves can be condensed or expanded, slowed down or sped up as needed, and it's best to train them differently at different times, so the way he kind of dances with it is actually really good, but neither strictly necessary nor really "added." All the movements have some practical application, usually several.

There is no dramatic content. This is an internal martial arts and the power that is being Illustrated here comes from the concept of fajing. The internal Chinese martial arts also use the concept of intention. This concept has to do with the spirit of the animal that is being imitated in the movements of each form. So this is intention and fajing that you are seeing here in the execution of this form. Tremendous power is generated by the use of intention and fajing and this power is the result. If you are to be struck in the body buy this kind of technique you would suffer internal injury.

I think he's playing Jackie Chan singing the Wong Fei Hung song in the background of the first form.

I liked his spirit, and his power, but theres something odd in the way he steps. He first tiptoes in then steps....and it seems to get in the way of power generation. Is there a hidden reason you could explain?
