Thank you, this clearly shows with examples what each setup gives us, so we can decide which composition for a scene we prefer, including the kind of blur, distortions and if you can some time test left and right tracking, with fixed camera angle, that moves the subject out of frame when moving away, to show any warping in a farther background, like a landscape or a lake, waterfall, mountains, houses, trees, anything. Im basically looking for a setup, that gives me that warping on sideways tracking at fixed camera angle. Kind of what fisheye would do, perhaps?

I'm wondering why the 50mm spherical is closer than the 50mm spherical crop (at 2:39)? Is this just because you moved the camera back or the model took a step back? Or does it have to do with how you cropped the footage (other than output blanking)?

Good comparison, they are both great depends what sort of effect you are looking for, spherical image looks objective , factual and sharp whereas anamorphic looks subjective, surreal and hazy.

Anamorphic is not vertical although it doesn't negate the test the test is very very good... really shows the compression of the lens ranges

That 28mm field of view is no where near the 50mm anamorphic fov. Your framing of the girl is also way off. However I enjoyed the video still.

Okay, the anamorphic examples look absolutely horrible and horribly distorted. I don't know why anyone would like that, my opinion. But okay.

Considering the 0.74x crop factor of the Ursa Mini 4.6k when shooting anamorphic, a 37mm spherical would give you the FOV of your 50mm anamorphic, not a 28mm (it's not half the focal length as you'd expect on a 4:3 sensor, like on the Alexa when shooting open gate). Also, your adapter needs to be collimated and recentered. It's softer on the lower part of the frame and it looks misaligned. The Samyang might also be a bit too complex from an optical point of view and the image might more degraded than with other taking lenses. Try a simpler lens design like a double/gauss or something similar for your taking lens (Helios 44-2 / Biotar / Leica Summicron 50mm / Planar 50 1.7 etc.)
