Whomever is in charge of product development and marketing for Anacs needs to be fired. They have no presence on social media, they don’t value feedback from their customers and refuse to change their god awful holders and labels. It’s sad because Anacs is actually pretty good at grading plus they’re a good price and their turn around times are the best
@keysersoze22
@keysersoze22 7 месяцев назад
I love the holders and labels. they give off a mid-century modern look, the holder's top is unique and helpful...I see them as more nitty gritty old school grading and approach...maybe they chose to not be on social media? they are my first choice.
@tylonnplatinumthe3rd659
@tylonnplatinumthe3rd659 7 месяцев назад
Your opinion is ok unfortunately very few collectors and basically zero dealers agree with it. There are no serious higher end collectors who agree either. Some simple changes along with a modern marketing and social media team could do this company wonders. It’s a shame because they’re not a bad company per say but they just keep dropping the ball and missing opportunities
@keysersoze22

Your opinion is okay too, and all the dealers I know prefer/have no bias towards anacs. Go figure.

Interesting. I would assume these are dealers who’s customer base is entry level and novice collectors a good example would be Daniel at coin help u who caters to beginners

Nah. Your assumption is incorrect. I am a dealer and my colleagues are all in agreement. No superficial bias. Last message from me. You can have the honor of the last message. Over and out.

I used ANACS for some inherited coins. My main goal was to ensure the coins were authentic. The cheaper, simpler submission (at a show) was the reason I chose ANACS. I am pleased with the results.

I can submit to all 4 services and do on occasion. I use ANACS for the ease of submission and the speed at which they return the product. Several of the shows I attend have the rep there and it is soooooo easy to just fill out the form on the first night, take them back the second day, save on the shipping, and they are very predictable . . in one month your grades will be there. But more to the point, I have 'acceptable grading skills', and yet ANACS seems to have decided they DO NOT want to be second tier behind PCGS, NGC, and CACG, so they are firm, fair, and absolutely spot on. Sure . . if you have a longstanding bias and can't wrap your head around the fact they have changed and are TIGHT, then have a fun time, but you are not correct in your ANACS assumption.
@Xenon-h9z

Not completely spot on. They were wrong about that walker being a 55 (it was a 58). I'm also not 100% sure that first merc wasn't a 64 and not a 65.

At my shop we do a LOT of business with ANACS. We have a special deal with them (due to a longtime buisiness/personal friendship) and can send coins in for cheap so we send off 100 coins a month or so. Their grading isn’t as bad as people say, I find they’re actually too strict sometimes. That’s what tools are for ⚒️

I love and support ANACS. ANACS is the true coin communities Grading Company simply because, theres alot of coins that need love, and its easy to afford to send certain coins to ANACS. I could list 100s of reasons why ANACS AND ICG are superior. This Is why CAC is closing in on their grading price scale. CAC is currently 20$ per USA Coin & 15$ for Morgan & peace dollars.

I love me some ANACS. They're my go-to for minor errors and non Cherrypicker's Guide Varieties, especially on modern clad coinage. I'm actually getting an order together right now to send in some of my modern DDOs & DDRs. The issue I see with ANACS isn't so much people not trusting their grades. The submitters for ANACS and PCGS/NGC/CACG are just different. Sure there are collectors that submit to "The Big Three," but there are a ton of resellers too. ANACS customer base is almost exclusively collectors and not sellers. I'm guilty of that as well. I send coins that make sense for my collection, mostly my CRH finds, but not big money coins. As much as we can say the consumer moves the market, there has to be the inventory to buy from as well...

I really like ANACS for a # of reasons (grading is accurate, fair fees, good customer service, etc.). I do agree on a holder change....I LOVE the newer NGC holders - it presents the coin nice and being able to see the side of the rim is a huge plus too!

ANACS sometimes does not mention that there is a Wheel Mark on a coin and will give it an average MS grade as opposed to the Full Steps/FBL etc., designation. So the coin doesn't come back with a details grade even though there is a clear Wheel Mark on it. I've also seen cleaned coins in ANACS holders that appear to be net graded. Nonetheless, I still prefer to use them for ease of submission, price point and having a coin protected from the environment.

Hi Ben. I think the AU58 grade is cool. You can sometimes get an MS65 coin that has just the slightest rub, and it looks better than MS60-MS64 coins. It's an interesting grade to collect. *>>>---------->* 🦉

Back in the late 60s, Hathaway and Bowers was selling SLQs advertised as BU w/rubbing. The coins came out of BU rolls, but had minor rubbing on the very highest points caused by coin movement in the rolls. I picked up a handful, they were like $25/coin. They were absolutely gorgeous, blazing gems. I had one graded a few years ago and as expected, it came back AU58. These are some of my favorite coins, eye appeal is better than most higher graded coins I've seen.

I do like ANACS and I do think the normally do a great job! At least they aren't sending every coin back as questionable color like some other grading companies do... If you want a quality slab coin that isn't a high value coin, they are a great pick. Why ay the insane price as the other companies. Now to upset some people...The only reason people gravitate to PCGS being the best is because the coin registry they started (And Control) has crated an artificially high price for high end graded coins. Not complaining about it. I think a registry service has brought a lot of people and value to the market. But just stating the obvious and obvious statements do make people upset sometimes. If ANACS started a registry and people gravitated to it. ANACS would quickly move up the ranks... Just sayin'

ANACS is the least cost grading company. But sometimes ANACS proves you get what you pay for. I submitted several coins and most came back as cleaned. But one coin I disagree with ANACS is a 1921-D Morgan. I cherry picked it out of a group of Unc 1921-Ds. I showed it to several collectors and we all agreed that it was either a PL or DMPL, which is rare for a 1921-D Morgan. What I got back from ANACS is a Morgan in MS-64 with a note from the grader that the 'Mirrors aren't deep enough for a PL'. So, is it 'Semi PL' like I've seen others advertised, or did the grader miss the PL? I'm tempted to send it to NGC for a regrade. There can be a huge price difference.

I am not totally anti ANACS, but I must say I feel like that 1938 D is certainly not a 65. I have two graded from PCGS, one MS65 FB and one MS64. There was considerably more wear on that coin than there is on my 64. ANACS is good for getting straight grade details coins and for errors since they don't charge extra for designation, but for US coins don't settle for anything but CACG, PCGS, and NGC.

When I started collecting I liked the ngc holders because of the labels. As my collecting progressed I got sucked into the pcgs is best world. But after actually spending lots and lots of time around coins and how they are graded I started picking raw coins and sending them into pcgs. But then I realized that they are completely overpriced and I switched to ANACS and I will never look back. I find that most of the coins I send in are very conservatively graded. Now when I go to shows I seek out ANACS coins that have great eye appeal cause more then likely they would grade higher at pcgs or ngc. So it goes back to buy the coin not the holder!!! Also ANACS is the oldest grading company out there. The registry is a big down side to me because my sets are actually coming along quite well. The big issue with them I think is lack of marketing which is probably why grading costs are lower. JMO

i think it depends what you want to do with the coin -- if you just want to have it certified and protected in a slab, then it doesn't matter as much which grading company we choose, so why not choose ANACS which grades faster (and more relaibly on time) and is better priced. If you hope to market and sell the coin, then you're right, perhaps sending it to PCGS or NGC is a better business decision. Either way, it's what you hope to do with the coin :)

It's unfair to characterize the shunning of ANACS as a popularity contest. There's a reason why the market has determined ANACS grading to be least reliable and least respected (of the big companies). They've earned the reputation with their work rather than failed at winning a popularity contest.

I don’t mind the label it’s the holder I can’t stand I like the soap box holder just not the new style anacs has to me if they would listen to there customers but they are very hard headed and offer both old holder and a newer holder I think if anacs used old rattler design or like the Blanchard holder design and offer both they would gain a lot ground and even allow customers to design there on label it would be a hit and as for womens basketball GO LSU

I've always thought their holders are just hideous and cheap-looking. It's like they took all the worst elements of the old rattlers and then made them worse, plus added a sticker that looks like it was printed in someone's basement in 2001.

Its brand snobbery and is just the way people are. Just the sheer fact something costs more its deemed better. Its very hard to break through that mindset.

The problem with ANACS is that they are not market value coins like PCGS or NGC. I don’t think gray sheet lists them, CAC won’t sticker them, and dealers will give you less money for them. Why do people still waste their time with them?

Buy high grade ANACS coins and send them into NGC or PCGS for possible cross-over. Those that cross-over can then be submitted for the green bean if you think it worthwhile to try.

CAC said the only reason they dont sticker ANACS coins is because the market hasnt requested CAC to Sticker their slabs. John Alb. talked about it in an interview, lets be honest CAC could easily sticker ANACS coins, but it would interfere with his connections to PCG & especially NGC. He basically helped create NGC. In reality just cause coins get stickered means nothing. especially now that you can send coins directly to CAC and there CAC slabs offer the same price as s 'stickered' coin.

We simply live a culture that prioritizes buying the sticker and/or slab rather than buying the coin. That has cultivated a market that favors NGC and PCGS over ANACS If we could all see coins through an objective lens, Anacs would lead the market because of their turnaround times and accuracy Sure, they’re not perfect but neither is PCGS and NGC. Bottom line, ANACS has all the business they could ever want. They fit perfectly in that affordable tier. I’m of the opinion, if they came out with a nicer holder the market could easily flip. Again, I stand by the fact that people buy holders and stickers over the actual coin. This is a show off contest and nobody wants to show off a coin in an ANACS slab

I wish we could get to the point that people would stop trying to be smart aleck's and just answer a question without ending with responses along the lines like....well, IF you weren't so darn stupid you could just read and be a super duper intellect like me. I'm so tired of that. Makes most people just want to stop all interactions on here. That's why many RU-vidrs have to continue requesting folks to comment..

I think Anacs are good at grading, but their holders are ugly as well as their labels. I have talked with many dealers and fellow numismatists, and nearly everyone agrees. If they would change their holders to a similar style to the Soapbox holders, I would be submitting to them over PCGS, as long as they could provide good truviews.

Yes, the label is awful... in my opinion! Mostly I dislike how everything appears written off center, which drives me crazy... Plus the plastic used for the slabs sounds cheap and soft when they are stacked on to one another... also in videos it doesn't appear clear!

I think a big part of the problem is their holders are ugly and cheap, and they have not marketed themselves for the last 35 years

Id literally only buy an ANACS coin for a crackout lol. Its so ugly and seeing as their down 32% since 2021 youd think theyd take the hint that customers, service quality or now, hate the look of the holder so would prefer another grading service on that fact alone since the holder is what you first see everytime you look at a coin. They can change the look and still keep the top view so you can see in a box and even the but at least chance the holders color scheme.

I also noticed ANACS graded coins sell for less than the others by a margin higher than the amount saved using them over other companies. Ebays sale history (going off first 2 pages) ANACS vs PCGS the ANACS sell at a 18% drop over PCGS and some up to 30% with high grades. Havent checked the sale time to see which sells faster but cost wise alone would remove ANACS as a choice unless youre selling a ton of coins to hide that sale cost reduction. They were really good not too long ago but as of lately their coin sale prices are dropping too much to be worth the $10 saved in shipping as id love much more than $10 on the sale lol.

Oh and Anacs doesn’t do plus grades and their version of a trueview is absolute garbage. Looks like someone set the slab on a desk and took a photo with a iPhone 6
