Being one of the few big fans of the Barber Series I really appreciated seeing these results. The Barber Halves are super tough in high grade which I don’t think many people realize That 1894s did look cleaned to me as well and I would’ve bagged it
Nice reveal. Man I just don’t see the cleaning on that SLQ. Overall not bad grades. I probably wouldn’t have sent those peace dollars in, the 22 and 25 that is. Anyhow, thanks for sharing!
It's a real shame that the 1917 Type 1 came back cleaned. Seeing those Barbers reminds me that I need to look for some nice examples of those. I've been thinking about it for a while but I actually need to do it. That graffiti on the seated dollar is really fine, it would be easy to miss. Thanks for sharing those!
To answer your question on Lincoln cents, 64 RB has much better eye appeal, thus causing it to get more market attention and bring more money regardless of the grade.
I have to say I love the dry sense of humor I catch all of your little jokes with the visual and verbal mistakes during the video and find myself cracking up even though you aren’t trying to be funny. We all know the key dates are going to be looked at and graded lower only because of the pop reports and who owns the higher end coins. It’s still highway robbery that the 3rd party grading companies have so much power and they control the market especially when that 1909 is a red coin and prob at least MS65.
As you might already know, Barbers especially quarters and halves were my specialty for a decade Im a fussbudget for original surfaces and original toning That 94-S is a little too dark for my personal taste. I like darker coins but not so much that color / chocolate brown on a quarter. The dark deep russets and cobalts and hues of golds and rose, yes, absolutely. If you follow the link below to my mini Barber quarter movie (made august of 2012), you’ll see 6 Barber quarters in VF-XF grade and the 1898-S, 99-S and 1900-S are examples of dark color and look I much prefer on barbers. Tell me the 1899-S and 1900-S shouldn’t be XF 40 or even 45 The 99-S has full forehead hair full upper and lower Liberty ribbon and full feathers on the wings all the way to the tips Too bad I had so many others I could have video taped including 2 beautiful 1893-S, two 97-S including the very rare center mint Mark variety a 1901-O and the super rare 1909-0 (the 09-0 is the great mystery of the series with less than 5 AU graded between PCGS and NGC and just a small handful of problem free XF) The reverse is nice and that color I like much more I agreed with your description of it being too bright and “glossy”. The obverse did look a little unnatural to me and does have that retoned cleaned look The 1914 has definitely been dipped Not improperly - but 100% without fail it’s been dipped When looking for wear and the high points, always check the top right corner of the shield for incomplete horizontal shield lines; eagle neck feathers, Liberty’s forehead hair, and the left claw of the eagle That’s 07-0 half is a classic AU58 and I haven’t seen your grade reveal yet... I paused it at 7:28 to write this novel 🤣 If you want to discuss all things Charles Barber , I recommend taking to (or better English, speaking with), Doug Veal or Vern Sebby about barbers They are the real experts Speaking of VF/XF/AU barbers that’s all I collected although I did have a handful of MS Barbers I made a small video on RU-vid because one of the guys I was selling my duplicates to couldn’t get videos texting from my phone (circa 2013 and he was old and slightly technology challenged), so I came up with the idea of making this video so he could see the coins virtually before buying them ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UxeoqozWSeA.html And a link to the Beantown Barber quarter date set here www.pcgs.com/setregistry/quarters/barber-quarters-major-sets/barber-quarters-date-set-circulation-strikes-1892-1916/alltimeset/105301 Unfortunately when I sold off my Everyman quarter and half dollar sets I failed to retire them and deleted them like a dummy. What a beautiful seated dollar too I think that’s definitely a VF30/35 all day long I’ve seen plenty of VF35 with luster (like 2 of the Barber quarters in my video 😃)..... Physical graffiti !
I recently bought an 1821 8 reales in AU condition and didn't find out until after buying it that it had some graffiti on the right side of the observe. It's still an attractive coin and I don't regret buying it as its not noticeable and adds character to the coin.
That 1909 would’ve been a 1 or 2 grade jump if it didn’t have a hairline. It’s a great coin without it. I’d net grade it lower than ngc for that reason but they’re the experts
There no way that SLQ is cleaned!!! Resend! We need justice! I wonder why these grading companies are so harsh on you… maybe it’s just the lighting so I can’t see cleaning but I don’t think it is
That SLQ cleaned grade is absurd. This is why I despise slabs so much. That's a stunner of a coin and some schmuck turned it into a undesirable over nothing. Unless a coin is obviously cleaned I'd do a chargeback. If they want to get paid do your job and grade the damn coins.
ehhhh i think that 09 vdb is a finer coin, it may have got knocked down due to the hairline on the back but really? i think that 09 vdb is a better coin.,...
I have to call BS on the 1917 SLQ. I don't see any sign of cleaning at all. Too bad some dufus wrote on the 1840 Seated dollar. I think the Seated Liberty coins are just about the most attractive silver coin designs the US has ever done.
@@JohnD357 well said i also think the trade dollar is beautiful but yea there’s nothing like a nice high grade seated liberty dollar and since your not a morgan collector you dont have any not even 1?
@@josefigueroa3930 I used to. I'm more of a type set collector than collecting full sets of any particular coin. I like too many types of coins which prevents me from buying a number of the same kind of coin. Oh, I really like Trade Dollars too!
WOW the 1917 SLQ to 99.99% of the people who saw this raw would never say it was cleaned period but they said that and killed its value is utter BS!! No lines or marks and under toning has full cartwheel luster and they say cleaned I call BS on that and I have seen SLQ's that Stevie wonder could see are cleaned get full grades. even the toning is so nature as it shadows the design are around the stars and eagle etc... Ill bet dollars to donuts you dip that coin and send to PCGS or back to NGC it will come back a solid grade and whoever looked at it should find a job at Walmart because coin grading is not there thing. Again this is why I will never submit because they really screw up when they should not and its a shell game and who you know and how you submit is utter BS as well!!!!! U send a coin in the looks great they say its cleaned you ask them and they tell you nothing but you paid for the grade and get no explanation is BS !!
@@josefigueroa3930 I think if he sent some coins off in someone elses name he might do better. He gets screwed too often on some good coins. Sure he sends some iffy ones in but from what Ive seen, the grading companies do not like him very much.
@@1mmickk yea but that seated dollar would always be a details coin no matter who sent it its a great coin though and maybe on other coins that would work but i mean ngc is a very busy company I doubt they keep track of coin dealers unless if there famous
