@@cancelanime1507 *pretending I am actually talking to the character* you let a fucking psycho manipulate you and make you lose everything you had. Sorry to say so but you asked for it! Btw how are your arms and legs?
Tyler Coupe if he stayed home he would’ve never became the jedi he was, he would’ve never gotten married, but also would’ve never became the person Palpatine made him in to... Darth Vader.
A love that was doomed from the beginning. They meet as children and become close, until their destinies take them down different paths. He becomes a Jedi, forbidden from any form of attachment, even love. She becomes a Senator, whose duties to the Republic must always come first. They reunite, fall in love, and get married in secret. And all of that leads to events that does not have a happy ending for either of them, but changes the fate of the entire galaxy forever.
Indeed, in the EU, Luke changed the Jedi Code so that the Jedi would be free to love again, as repressed love would have been like a time bomb, waiting for the Jedi to explode, as shown in the tragedy of Darth Vader. *****
DanSolo0119 It was doomed because they had to lie to everyone to hide it, instead to admit it. So not the love was bad and destructive, but their decision about keeping this secret. Love did not corrupted Anakin, his lies did. Powerfull as he was and strong with the force, he was choose not to confront his problems but hide them, blaming everyone else for his failures, but not him self. If he admited, he would be expell from Order, so what ? He would be with the woman he loved. He was allways great pilot, so keeping his family would be hard for him, and with war in the galaxy, both Republic and the jedi would need his skills. On the other hand Luke is totally different, maybe because his uncle and aunt, and of course harsh teacher Yoda, he fails but he always admits it. I have seen Luke saying "I am sorry" and then trying to corret what he has done wrong, I have never seen Anakin (even as Jedi Knight) speaking this words.
Anakin did say "I'm sorry" when Obi-Wan lectured him about losing his lightsaber. Luke was always more sincere when he said the words. Furthermore, it was also Anakin's ego. He learned early on that he was "The Chosen One", so he was convinced he was better than everyone else. Being the greatest pilot in the galaxy wasn't enough. Being a cunning warrior wasn't enough. He had to be the one to conquer even death. When you think about it, the only difference between Darth Vader and Voldemort....Darth Vader knew love.
DanSolo0119 But Anakin "I'm sorry" are "I am sorry, can we go back to other bussines now, chasing and killing bad guys ?", while Luke "I am sorry" are "I am sorry, I was wrong".
+Plotinus Personally, I like their story just as it is. It was tragic and sad, but their deaths were not purposeless and this way, we can imagine they get eternity together. Their love became immortal and went beyond the world of physical. Sad and beautiful in the end. :)
+MarianaPhoenix but isn't possible too, considering Jedi aren't allowed to have partners? Isn't definitely possible she could've became a force ghost after mating with Anakin considering it's such a rare thing? Maybe Midichlorians can be swapped considering Shmi had Anakin because of the Midichlorians alone?
The real vilian of Star Wars is the asshole that is Palpatine and the main character is Anakin. We see him on is whole life and we know the event from an different point of view with is two children. Vader is not evil, he just let is heart grow dark and he became a fallen hero. And for me, the worst thing in the Star Wars universe is the Holiday Special.
They were never going to have a happy ending because their love could never see the light of day. That's what makes it all the more tragic. There's so much Luke and Leia will never know about their real parents.
JMoonrise For all the people who think Anakin was just power hungry, in the scene where he reunites with Padmé, right before she tells him she's pregnant, she admonishes, "Not here," as he's kissing her. He replies, "I don't care, let them see." That's not a man who's choosing power over love. He's ready to be done with it all just to be with her. He's even more into the idea when he finds out she's going to have a baby and they'll have a family. It's when he gets brainwashed by Palpatine, into thinking that by becoming a Sith he can save her life, that he starts wanting to take over the galaxy, with Padmé by his side. To rule his own way, where a Jedi doesn't have to live in secrecy, amongst other things. I'm not sure it was power at all, as much as the freedom to love, and to stop feeling like he was being disrespected, mistrusted, and shot down by the Jedi at every turn.
Or if Lucas didn’t write the script. Every movie Lucas contributed to the script had script problems: A New Hope < Very slow first hour Return of the Jedi < 1st and 2nd act drag on Phantom Menace < Childish dialogue and some pacing issues in Tatooine Attack of the Clones < Horrible romance and pacing problems Revenge of the Sith < Some bad dialogue but overall, very little problems
@@kirind.dragon1901 Hayden played awkward teen who never talked with girls and must stop his emotions, he doesn't like sand as he was a slave on desert planet. In that case, all is good.
it's so sad, yet epic, that a young boy destined to be the chosen one for the force of good turned out to be the most powerful leader for the force of evil.
All he was destined to do was bring balance to the force. One doesn't have to achieve that by subscribing to only one side of the force. Darth Vader grew up as a Jedi, fell to the Sith, redeemed himself, and then became something more. In doing so, he brought balance to the force.
Harbinger10892 You could argue what he did to the Jedi brought real balance. By the time he was done in ROTJ there were only a handful of Jedi/Sith in the galaxy where as up to the timeline in the prequels theres were hundreds maybe thousands of Jedi while only a handful of Sith leaving the force therefor unbalanced
In my opinion a better love story than twilight, titanic and all the other stuff xD I really don't know why I love this romance so much and other people hate it O.o But the story is so beautiful, tragic and sad ._. episode 2 is the reason why I'm always sad when I watch the third one when Anakin becomes Darth Vader... I just like the whole plot of the star wars story because of the love between Anakin and Padme and their consequences for the whole universe.
Luckyy Night Because you Yourself, is looking for the Same thing as young Anakin, from Episode IIAotC Your True Love.. It's what every man hopes to find.. And when you see Anakin and Padme, you feel the Energy of Anakin towards Padme, and it gets us excited, like we're on a emotional sugar high
Luckyy Night the love itself is believable and the story is great but a few scenes of bad dialogue overshadow the good for so many people. It’s a shame.
Luckyy Night I agree, I used to not appreciate AoTC and only like RoTS for the battles and the energy, but as I rewatch Episode II then Episode III you can really see just how heartbreaking it is to see Anakin fall, betray and kill the one thing he really loved
Bøøks Døn't Care If I'm Ugly No you're not the only One.. I cry everytime, I have this song on my phone... I listen to it every day.. I Love Padme So Much... Her smile, her laugh.. Her inner-strength.. Everything about Padme I am absolutely Utterly Ridiculously, deeply InLove With Her... She's My Entire Life
The real Star Wars main character is ANAKIN SKYWALKER (VADER). Even in the new trilogy(VII,VIII,IX) Vader's mask appears as a refference to Kylo Ren. And I'm pretty sure that they will give us a reference of Vader in any of the three movies.
Yesterday I watched episode III again. I started cursing because even after rewatching it for the 15+ time Padme always dies. At least for once I want to see a different ending. I don't like the Jedi but I hate Palpatine just for this and the bond he destroyed between the clones and the Jedi. :D
See the thing is that Palpatine not only destroyed that bond between clones and Jedi but he destroyed pretty much Anakin's life and life of galaxy. He manipulated that young impulsive, lost man into doing things that he did. Palpatine destroyed everything, many innocent people died or suffered. Anakin cause so much pain and I'm sure that even Anakin as Darth Vader suffered because of his actions.
Technically, Anakin was seduced by the Dark Side of the Force. He actually turned to the Sith because he was trying to protect Padmé, and save people from dying. But the Sith eventually were able to turn him over to the Dark Side. He's not that bad; Anakin is actually my second favorite Jedi. I like Obi-Wan as my first. But, yes, it was Palpatine's fault. He pulled Anakin through to the Dark Side.
People and critics like to say that Anakin wasn't " edgy " enough or he was" too good " at first to become such a powerful and iconic figure. He was once destined for greatness and had his whole future ahead of him, yet he let his inner demons take root and change the course of his life forever even effecting those around him who he loved. This is a cautionary tale and tragedy so many of us, including myself, have struggled with throughout life. Human nature in essence. Anakin was always my favorite because I could relate in so many ways.
As i kid growing up with these movies..I always wanted a love as strong as these two. I found it 6 years ago and never gave up, I convinced her to go out with me even though she refused to out with me the first about 6 or 7 times I asked. we have been together for 4½ years still going strong.
This soundtrack is one of the best in star wars due to the GENIUS of John Williams. When I listen to this, i feel that the song is divided in 3 parts: the first ( 0:00- 2:23 ), having a relaxed, innocent and romantic tone, demonstrating the pureness of both Anakin and Padmé, the second ( 2:24- 4:33 ) becoming slightly darker because of everything that is happening in anakin´s mind, and the third ( 4:34- the end) using the harp to make us feel like after all that happened, their love has become but a memory, a sad one. Truly amazing how this song was made!
The main reason people supposed "hate" the prequels is because most of the complainers are middle aged fanboys of the original trilogy and don't have the capability of understanding a beautiful lovestory.
Exactly right! I'm 33 years old and saw the prequels first as a kid. My mom took me, friends, and my brothers and we waited in a hour long line on opening day to see these movies. I watched the originals after and was like wtf these movies are old they suck hahaha now I like them all. My mom loved original Star Wars and she packed the mini van so full of kids we didn't even have room to buckle our seatbelts lmfao good times.
I think both trilogies were made for the audience of their time. The originals were in an era where people craved that, a new universe, fantasy, action and a hero's journey. The prequels were made in an era where people craved for human emotion, a love story and portraying people in grayscale rather than pure-good/evil
When I watched the 3rd movie I cried so much and then I stopped. Then the scene when Padme's funeral happened and it showed her holding the neaklace Anikan gave her and I started sobbing! THEY WERE MEANT TO BE!! WHY U EVIL PEOPLE!!! STUPID DARTH VADER!! U GUYS WERE SOO PERFECT TOGETHER!!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
But we will always remember their live in our hearts. Even though Darth Vader ruined it. At least Darth Vader helped save Luke at the end of episode 6 That was a touching moment for me
Anakin was a good person. He wanted to save Padme Amidala from dying. This is the reason why he joined the Dark Forces. He believed in Palpatine's lie, who was manipulating him to do bad things (such as convincing him to kill Count Dooku) and to become an enemy to the Republic and to the Jedi Council. He told him that, if he want to save Padme's life, he must learn to use the Dark Force, until he will be enough strong to prevent her death. But the truth is another. Only one could cheat death and make other people immortal. And his name is Darth Plagueis, and he is dead, killed by Darth Sidious (Palpatine), because he didn't want to make him immortal too. Anakin was confused, because he didn't want to betray the Jedi Council. His intention was just to save Amidala. Palpatine took advantage of this fact and influenced him to join the Dark Force. He told him the Council doesn't trust him and his powers. This stirred Anakin's lust for power and he forgot a bit that his aim was to save Padme... I think that, if he told to Master Yoda about what was happening in his nightmares, and if he told him that he is the father of the children and Amidala was the mother, Yoda would have done his best to save her. Anakin was between the devil and the deep sea. If he wouldn't accept Palpatine's offer, the hope to save Padme would have been destroyed. So, he decided to join Palpatine and the Old Republic have been destroyed. Because the Dark Force inside him, his thoughts weren't clear. He thought he brought peace to the Republic, but he destroyed it, allowing Lord Sidious to create the Empire on the ruins of the Republic. Here is a philosophical question: Would you become the biggest murderer to save your love? And however, Anakin was finally good, because he saved Luke Skywalker by killing the Lord in Episode six. I think if they didn't want to make children, nothing would have been happened, and the Republic would have won the war against the Dark Forces. But when you are in love, and you marry, it's normal to want to have children. Some people say that Anakin killed Padme when he saw Obi-Wan-Kenobi exiting the spaceship. But it's not true, because Kenobi was hiding on that spaceship to find Anakin, because Padme didn't want to tell him where he is. And, secondly, Padme was alive when she gave birth to the children, and she died just after she born them, so Anakin's nightmares were true.
I would just like to point out how well this video was put together... The sadder and deeper parts of the songs matched up with anakins parts where he was in pain or was angry and vice versa... Well done
Their love story is far greater than Romeo and Juliet. I just ache for Anakin because he truly loved Padme. And was willing to give up anything to make sure she lived. I honestly think theirs was the greatest love story of all time. Natalie and Hayden were perfectly matched. Beautiful couple.
I really like episode 2. I watched when I got sober like ten years ago, and I had a really powerful emotional experience. It was the first time I had felt anything for years. The love story hit me like a truck. Made me grateful to be young and still able to experience love myself eventually.
Every couple of months I come back to this video and have a good cry. This is still the best love story for me and I truly believe anakin's intentions were good. The overwhelming love he had for her was the thing that killed her.
The Prequels have more depth then you may think. I read a great book about them (including this romance). It's called "The Star Wars Heresies: Interpreting the Themes, Symbols and Philosophies of Episodes I, II and III". THIS is the sort of deep analysis, that very few movies get, now that every shmuck with a camera reviews on youtube. Not that all youtube reviewers are bad - far from it - but I'm talking about all this "critics" that upload these generic 5 minutes Reviews. I really don't want to give to many Things away, but... First, The Star Wars Heresies focuses only on the Prequels. Mentions are made to the Original Trilogy, Clone Wars, and Expended Universe - particularly James Lucenos Darth Plagueis novel - but only to the extent they illustrate a particular point. Given that the Prequels are regarded by some as the black sheep in the Star Wars family, it's easy for authors to zero in on the Original Trilogy, especially the ever-quotable Yoda. Fortunately, by excluding its more popular cousin, McDonald is able to engage in a much closer analysis of the Prequel story. Second, many other works only point out parallels to Joseph Campbell's "hero's journey" or Buddhism, but McDonald goes beyond those sources. He draws upon impressive range of real-world mythological and religious traditions, including obscure Chinese legends and linguistic translations of the names of key characters (it turns out Qui-Gon Jinn's name foreshadows his role at the end of Revenge of the Sith). The Star Wars Heresies can't be categorized quite so cleanly as about philosophy, religion, mythology, or politics because it draws upon all of these fields. This book is definitely a must-read for fans of the Prequels. McDonald engages in a "close reading" of the films to find parallels between mythological patterns and the Prequels. However, this isn't like a high school English class that analyzes a book to death and takes all of the fun out of it. McDonald uses his analysis in order to allow readers to gain a deeper appreciation for the Prequels and where they fit within the broader scheme of human mythology. There are many subtle moments in the movies that fans might overlook but are actually imbued with deep significance. While the naysayers whine about the prequels showing the heroes as flawed and the government even more so, McDonald exposes the cracked superstructure of the galaxy-wide Republic as well as the Chosen One, then reveals how the surrounding forces and events caused both to fall. With comparative examples quoted from classic works on mythology, Buddhism, Taoism, and ancient pantheons, he shows how the characters' stubborn refusal to learn lessons and accept change leads to dire consequences for all. This applies to everyone from Anakin to the Jedi Council to the Galactic Senate. If you are on the fence about the seemingly sudden conversion of Anakin to the Dark Side and the Republic into the Empire, this book clearly details how such a rapid shift was not only possible, but inevitable. McDonald tackles all of the prequels' most controversial subjects, from Anakin and Padme's romance-which might at times seem stilted compared to the sort of screen romances we are used to but which, as he demonstrates, is extremely representative of the classic courtly romance tradition from which it derives-to Jar Jar Binks, whose-to many-irritating qualities are in keeping with the mythological role of the Fool and/or Trickster, to-perhaps best of all-the midichlorians, which he believes are likely the most misunderstood aspect of the entire saga. What makes his midichlorian defense so blazingly brilliant is how he proves that all of the evidence is right there in the film itself, if one pays close attention to the script's exact wording. The book is separated into three parts, one per film. Each part contains chapters that examine a character or a circumstance within an archetypal framework, i.e. "The Master," "The Queen," "The Mother," etc.
xRockycherrYx If your interested there is also a great documentary about the Prequels called: "The Prequels Strike Back: A Fan's Journey" Have ever heard of it?
Imagine if anakin didn't actually turn and raised Luke and leia to be Jedis while Obi wan turned or something outlandish like that... It's all very interesting
+Zornica Naidenova Already read 3 or 4 xD . I actually liked 2 of them a lot. Not to spoil if you stumble across them but in one of them, order 66 is still executed, however Anakin is still good and other jedi like windu, obi wan and yoda are alive. Captain Rex is also on their side. Sadly it was only 2 chapters :/
I wish these bad stuff had never happened to him. To live a happy life with Padme was all he ever wanted. It is when you see the prequels you get to see who darth vader really is and what made him that. It makes you fall in love with a character that is expected to be hated in the originals more than any character in the history of starwars.
this is a great piece-it goes with the story of them very well. And btw-a lot of ppl have said tht hayden christinsen was a bad choice of anakin and he ruined the movie....i don't think this at all! He was great in the movie! :) Can't wait until part 7- I jst hope it won't be ruined by Disney!
Perfect harmony between the images and the music. They fit so well. John William's score expresses all the facets of that particular love: joy, happiness, menace, tragedy... and that film fully transcribes each of these feelings. Great job.
Darth Vader was born when the Emperor told him he killed Padme. He could no longer feel love for anyone, he was cold hearted and merciless. But once he found out he had a son the good in him started to creep back in, Luke was the only thing left of the woman he loved. And when the emperor was killing him Anakin finally returned to save him and Padme's son
A love that shattered the Universe and changed it for ever. Across the stars one can fell the impact it had forever, but it was a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...
It's so sad how poor Padme 😞😞how was so selfless, kind and strong met such a tragic end. She would have been an amazing mother to Luke and Leia. By far my favourite Star Wars character. Somewhere in an Alternate Universe far far away she will be living happy with Anakin and her twins happy ever after. ❤️
+NightGraveHunting but all he wanted was to save padme and the light side wouldn't have helped him they would have said: you broke the rules, go to exile or I don't something like that
He was waiting for his freedom, his death! At least he did see his son and daughter and redeemed himself in the end. He could have been so happy if he wasn't so afraid of death. But I understand him.
It's incredible how John Williams' music alone could tell the entire Star Wars story. You can play his soundtracks separately from the film and still literally feel every character.
Those trumpets at 2:33 have always been my favorite part of the song. By the way you made an excellent job with the images I love it, I love Padme and Anakin and I love episode II and III.
