The Fall and Redemption of Anakin Skywalker: One of the greatest cinema stories ever told. 😊

Ever since Sidious told Vader that he had killed Padme, Anakin plunged into his hate, anger, and pain for 20 years. His hate for himself but also the Jedi is what kept him so steeped in the dark side and why he was arguably the most powerful sith the galaxy had seen except for sidious himself. The only thing that brought a glimmer of light back into Anakin was the revelation that his and Padme’s child was alive. As far as Vader knew, Luke was the last remaining piece of Padme. If it wasn’t for Luke seeing the good in his father the same way Padme always did, the Jedi Anakin wouldn’t have returned!

Anakin finally did the right thing, even at the cost of his own life.

Shmi: "Anakin, help me!" Padme: "Ani, help me!" Luke: "Father, help me!"

Palpatine was simply saying that if Luke kills him in rage, the darkness will consume him just like what happened with Anakin. Force users can kill, just that they shouldn't do it anger, especially to someone unarmed.

It frequently annoys me that so many people miss C-3P0's growth as a character. We never seem to recall that in Ep. IV he said that he was not good at telling stories. Now, he was able to have a whole village rapt by his tale.

Hello there! I Really hope you continue the story with the Star Wars shows like the Clone Wars, the Mandalorian, Tales of the Jedi, Rebels, the Bad Batch and Ahsoka.

That reaction to the ending is exactly why George Lucas named the films Episode 1-6 and put Hayden there. The creator want you to watch in that orden and the ending impact its so emotional!

i always used to get confused with the order of the films and forget what was going on when i was younger and just started watching them

The bounty hunter was Boba Fett, the unaltered clone of Jango Fett from Ep.2, the donor for the clone army. He was also the one who tracked Han Solo to Cloud City in Ep.5.

No need to rush to see episodes 7, 8, and 9. They are based WAY in the future. To find out what's next check out the live action tv series that come out during what i call the Mandalorian period. Then again there's still plenty of new stuff from before the original trilogy. You know about clone wars. There's also tales of the jedi, the bad batch, the han solo movie, andor, and rebels. These pre-original trilogy shows feed directly into the post-original trilogy shows shows of the Mandalorian period.

The ending gives us all the much needed catharsis after seeing Anakin go through so much and fall to the dark side. It feels so heartwarming to see everyone together at the end.

Ahsoka took half of Vader's mask, Obiwan took the other half, but only Luke could rewove the whole thing to bring Anakin back.,

A little fun fact regarding the title of this episode, it refers to the return and redemption of a Jedi long thought dead - Anakin Skywalker - Return of the Jedi.

Loved your reaction Stef. This is probably one of the deepest and as you said, "incredible" story. It wasn't just Luke. It was all the people especially Obi Wan. He told stories of Luke's father was a good man and a friend. Obi Wan didn't refer to him as a villain. Obi Wan loved Anakin like a brother and that in essence was the problem. Anakin needed a father figure like Oui Jon, but he was killed. So, in a way it Star Wars was different in that yes Darth Vader was the villain, but he was as a broken man. Anakin was manipulated to believe he could save Padme but only with dark side. Not realizing Padme would not want the man she loved corrupt himself to cure or save her if she was even sick. It was love that was Anakin's greatest strength but also his weakness. But after succumbing to dark side, he never saw way out. Even with Luke telling him he had hard time seeing it. But Luke had faith in his father. He risked everything to show his father. It was the line "I am a Jedi like my father before me." Luke didn't see his dad as Sith Lord or Darth Vader. People wonder why Luke threw his lightsaber away. It was because this was final moment. Anakin would have to make a choice. Something he had not been given for a long time. Anakin had to make the choice. So, during the panning back and forth yes, he was making that choice but also building up the force in him. But it wasn't the dark side. He was channeling the light side. So perhaps he thought of Luke, Padme, Obi Wan, Asoka. All the people who loved Anakin. You can tell this because it is the first time Jedi theme plays for Darth Vader when he picks up the Emperor. This is why the movie is called Return of the Jedi...because Anakin Returned to being a Jedi. :)

The many bothans died line isnt referring to rogue one btw, rogue one happened just before episode 4. Maybe one day well get a show or game showing their story though.

The part where Vader tells Luke that it’s too late for him is heartbreaking. Anakin’s redemption is a proper punch the air moment👏🏻

Love the emotion you showed after watching it again, I’ve been watching these movies over & over since I was a kid and I still get/feel emotional after the conclusion of them. Best movies of all time.

Remember when Obi said to Anakin that he was the one that was suppose to bring balance to the force. Many forget that he actually does but only right before he dies.

The emotions James Earl Jones and the suit actor, whose name I have forgotten, manage to instill in a scary armored black suit is fantastic.

If you want more Anakin, you should watch the Clone Wars Animated series. It starts of slow but gets so good.

In the first version trilogy, ghost of Anakin was the older one. But, after the prequels all 3 originals was restored, lot of new things were added and some changes have been made. One of them was ghost, but this time played by Hayden.

That's the power of flashback order, episode VI becomes even greater at the end :) btw Clone Wars is the real last project on which Georges Lucas was involved, it's really excellent as a whole! Just beware that the episodes are totally out of order, so i really suggest you to NOT follow release order (season 1,2,3...) but to follow the chronological order list instead

As a lifelong star wars fan - your reaction to boba fett has been my exact feelings on the character my entire life lmao. "maybe he's not so important after all" lmao I never understood why fans loved him so much, he was pretty lame in the OT and did so little, yet so many star wars ideas spiraled just from his design after that and he's a fan favorite character He seemed so familiar because he was in Episode 5 when Han was first captured. Alsoyou might recognize him because of the Mandalorian being so huge in recent years, and Boba Fett was the original inspiration for the Mandalorians

I love how they mirrored Lukes line "then my father is truly dead" with Obi Wans line from the recent show "then my friend is truly dead". With that Luke line here get more weight and adds to Vaders inner conflict.

If you are an Anikan fan, I would say you MUST watch the Clone Wars. It gives so much more depth to Anakin’s character. Season 1 is a little childish, but after that season it really picks up

As time goes on and these become legend in my mind, it seems Emperor Palpatine likely has the record for successful/attempted recruiting of Sith disciples. Treats his pupils like cars - always wanting to trade up.

The thing about Star Wars is that it’s not really about the ships, the lasers, the force, or any of that. It’s fundamentally about family, love, and redemption. It is precisely the faith Luke has in the love of his mother and his father that becomes the catalyst for Anakin’s redemption, and the fulfillment of prophecy. This is the entire point of Star Wars. Everything leads to that moment.

To think - people are mad about George replacing Hayden as Anakin at the end. This reaction is why he did it, in spite of the "fans" that hated him for doing things like that. It's 1000% more impactful and powerful.

This is where the sage truly ended. The empire was defeated, Anakin was redeemed and Luke went on to rebuild the Jedi

The reason Leia looks photoshoped is because George wanted her to sit in an angle and in a way where her stomach couldn't show any folds or anything of the sort so she had this super awkward pose in the scene. George has said the reason it's called Return of the Jedi isn't because it's the return of their religion through Luke, it's the Return of Anakin destroying Sidious and Vader Returning as a Jedi and the Chosen One. Meaning the original 6 movies were the story and heroes journey of Anakin, he was the main character of the original 6 movies! Sidenote! If you like the Ewok's they actually had 2 official movie's made about them that act as a sort of prequel to ROTJ for Wicket! They were called Caravan of Courage and Battle for Endor.

What may come right after you should watch the series…Mandalorian Season 1, Book of Bobba Fett, Mandalorian Season 2 and then Ahsoka. I believe those mostly cover up the gap between Return of the Jedi and Rey's Arc. In The Clone Wars, you will experience Anakin in his prime as a Jedi before he fell to the Dark Side. It's timeframe is between Ep 2 and Ep 3. You will also meet Ahsoka. She made her first appearance in The Clone Wars pilot movie.

Her reaction at the very end is the main reason why some of us recommend Flashback Order. Too many gatekeeping purists, who already hate that scene because it was changed from the original, just can't think outside the box and put themselves in a new fan's shoes. New fans don't need to watch these movies in the same order as most of us did back in the day. The more content we get about Anakin and the Rebels vs Empire story, the more context we have for the grand finale that is RotJ, the more emotional that movie becomes.

The next thing after this takes place about 5 years later. These are, in order, the series: "Mandalorian seasons 1-2", "Book of Boba Fett", and "Ahsoka". Then about 25 years pass from that period and it's Episodes 7-9.

Luke didn't know that until just before then. 3. Luke's light saber is green because he lost his old one along with his hand so they decided to make it green because it worked better in the desert background landscape. 4. Everybody is freaking out because Luke and Leia kissed mostly because she was trying to piss off Han. They didn't know they are related. 5. The "I love you. I know" was written into the script to get Leia the shot to say it to Han. 6. This was Warrick Davis'/Lead Ewok first acting gig. He was only 13. Willow is his lead with Val Kilmer and worth a first time/share.😎 7. Awesome camera work with the race through the forest. Nobody in their right mind would go that fast. 8. A little corn. Hans' reaction to Leia telling him Luke is her brother. 9. Jedi is plural. With Luke and Leia leading the way they can reestablish the Jedi back into the galaxy. 10. Ford wanted Han to die in this episode. 11. This is the best of the original 6 George Lucas Star Wars. After this he sold it to Disney, and everything changed. Sadly

If I was Luke Id ask why Vader keeps on following the old Emp. When this new edition came out i hated they replaced the original actor's force ghost with Hayden but now Im VERY happy they have. Hayden truly deserved that spot. He IS Anikin and Vader above all others. Im happy with it now. Hayden did an amazing job.

It is confirmed in the Star Wars Canon comic Darth Vader when he had his castle built on Mustafar and then in the Vader Immortal vr game. Vader/Anakin tried to revive Padme from the end of episode 3 Revenge of the Sith, but he couldn't see it because Luke and Leya were already born. Because he thought they died in her womb. So when he tried to revive her, he couldn't see them because they were already born. And then when he found out that he had a son, he wanted to be sure Darth Vader 2020 comic period between Star Wars episode 5 and 6. And some time after that, this cinematic Fallen Angel takes place.

So fun to watch your Star wars journey with you. Since you watch them the way you did, I truly think you should watch the mandalorian next. Mandalorian is the very next story in the timeline. Then the book of boba Fett, Then ahsoka. Then you should watch episodes 7, 8 and 9. Obviously you can watch them in any order you like :-), but this is just my opinion from someone who's seen every movie on opening day. Yes that means I'm old lol. As I said, it's been a joy watching you experience these films as they have been a big part of my life. Enjoy the rest of your journey!

I was born the year the first Star Wars released and watched these since I was a kid. Still, Vader’s death scene still gets to me. With this movie done. You could either watch THE MANDALORIAN then the AHSOKA series, or watch the Sequel Trilogy then go back for the series. Not sure AHSOKA hits as strongly if you don’t watch the animated series REBELS. REBELS is good.

The Mandalorian is the next chapter chronologically in the starwars saga, it shows the post-imperial early new republic era.

The story line after Return of the Jedi would technically be Rebels (animated) series, The Mandalorian Season 1 & 2, The Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian Season 3, Ashoka Season 1 and until they make more of the previously mentioned series, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker. Rebels, The Mandalorian, Boba Fett and Ashoka are the untold stories between Return of The Jedi and The Force Awakens. As an old school Star Wars fan I wasn’t a big fan of the newest movie saga but a lot of people were. I know you’ll enjoy all the series though!! Enjoy!

I was 13 years old when I saw Star Wars in the Movie Theatre then was 16 Years old in 1980 when I saw the Empire Strikes back and was 19 years old in 1983 when I saw Return of the Jedi. Anakin Skywalker was the Jedi that returned. Luke hinted at it when he told the Emperor I am a jedi like my father before me. Everyone in the Theatre was stunned when we found out that Princess Leia was Lukes's sister, Everyone cheered when Darth Vader turned on the Emperor. In the original movie Darth Vader does not scream no. He just keeps looking back and forth until he grabs the Emperor. The Older actor was the Force Ghost in the original version. This was because there was no younger version of Anakin in 1983 because the Prequels had not been made.

Concerning Vader, he did not think that a sith could return to the light side of the force and also he was afraid of his master. His master has repeatedly demonstrated his powers and ability to be one step ahead of everyone. But Luke's courage and willpower touched him. As well as Luke's stubbornness in wanting to bring him back to the good side. Not to mention his love as a father and his love for Padme. Let's not forget that Luke is Padme's son. Plus Lucas said I think Vader had to concentrate to be able to attack Palpatine and succeed in throwing him into the hole. Unfortunately Disney had to step in and make a shitty trilogy. Episodes VII to IX for me are an abomination. Because of them, Anakin's sacrifice is useless and the suffering of our beloved heroes, namely Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie and Lando, are in vain. Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, Star Wars is from Episode I to VI. Episodes VII to IX in my mind do not exist, they are apocryphal! I hate Disney, they destroy Everything they are touching. I think by looking at the first two trilogies you can understand why many long-time fans hate the Disney trilogy. I am a long-time fan of his (I watched “Return of the Jedi” at the cinema in 1983) and I find that Disney has tarnished this saga that we love so much. For me, when you can't improve something, there's no point in touching it. But mediocrity and arrogance reign at Disne

I don't care what anyone says, RotJ is the best of the OT and my 2nd favorite movie behind RotS, and the edits made the ending so much better. The music was more finale-like, more emotional, and younger Anakin as a force ghost was so much better because that was the last time his body was normal. A normal looking old version of Anakin never existed, so it makes sense that he's young. Couldn't name what ep. 8 and 9 were? That's weird.
