I appreciate the comprehensiveness of these two videos, Michael. Scads of good Audio Research history and manufacturing process information here. Love how the engineering integrity and aesthetic runs through the company from the beginning to the present day. And the fact that there is someone there, listening carefully to every product. Warren, I hope to God you are healthy, and happy to be working at Audio Research.

The lady with all the flowers and dogs makes me want to buy their products. There is a level of humanity allowed by the company the is almost non existent now!

Been binge watching Michael Fremer videos all day, just thinking how I wish there was more. And here's 19 minutes.

On my second viewing of part 2 already! "In charge of sonic development." I want that job. So cool to see them using cable lifters. I've never used any, but now I want some.

+Analog Planet From an informational/educational/historical perspective, you're absolutely right.

And regardless of what the naysayers neigh (below) it is TOUGH being a reviewer, staying ahead of a tour host (in terms of asking your next challenging question) AND running a camera yourself AND injecting a little humor here and there. You did a great job! Thanks again.

Love these factory tours. How bout a tour of Cary Audio and VPI? Or have you done those at some point?

Thanks Mike for this video! ARC have always been my dream components (but always just a bit out of my grasp, price-wise) ever since I started reading HP back in the early days of Absolute Sound. It's great to see there are still artisans and ordinary people still dedicated to perfection even in the 21st Century.

I imagine the fail rate for AR equipment is very low, quite a few manufacturers use computers for testing as they sell boxes - on paper they seem impressive, yet the reality they are dull

I worked in electronic manufacturing for over 30 years, from Audio Digital (Gary Hardesty famed sound engineer who designed one of the world's first audio digital delays and did the China Olympics stadium), to Versa Logic and Spectra Physics / Datalogic Scanning. Spectra Physics produced the world's first retail barcode scanner which scanned a pack of Juicy Fruit Gum. I also repaired car stereos for 2 years out of school, and saw the transition from cassette to CD players in cars. I stuffed my share of circuit boards, bent leads, repaired, soldered and eventually to writing test software. Been there, done that - and more. In 2009 my department at Datalogic along with our large manufacturing plant was sent to VIETNAM!! I lost my job of 15 years. Guess who I'm voting for? I just sold a 1985 Conrad Johnson PV5 I had purchased used in the early 90s. Sold the first day on eBay for $1,400 a few months ago. That is the highest price I've seen one sell for. Got all my money back. Was refurbished and stuffed with 3 NOS Mullard CV4004 by Bill Thalmann who was the technical director at CJ for 20 years before starting Music Technology 16 years ago or so. His work cannot be outsourced. It's an art. I'm currently using an Emotiva XMC-1 A/V processor for my home theater which is made in the USA. Bring manufacturing back to the USA let's make America great again. Bill Thalmann and Gary Hardesty, I salute you!

Trump steaks? Pfff... How about Trump turntables? Trump cartridges? Trump phono preamps? Kapow! Slam dunk.

By the way, steaks or no, I enjoyed your video tour of Audio Research. I worked in environments like that most of my career, so I felt right at home watching it. I have a friend who bought Audio Research equipment and so I am somewhat familiar with the name. In 2010 my friend bought the Audio Research 40th Anniversary Edition Reference Preamplifier and other AR stuff to complete his latest upgrade. Unfortunately, 2 years later his hearing in one ear completely shut down due to a virus! It was so sad as audio was his favorite hobby. Now he has thrown himself into home theater. He was my mentor getting into vinyl.

Yeah, putting a 30% tax on everything that gets shipped overseas or through the border totally wont make manufacturers come back here. Get a grip dude, you're rejecting the only candidate that can help bring back the "made in USA" sticker on audio equipment.

+Alexander96... the "dude" is Michael Fremer who made this video. I think we can find common ground without creating ground loops. ;-)

Stereo Review "All amplifiers sound the same!" Great behind the scenes look. I worked Electro/Mechanical design for 40 years. Great environment. Regarding Transformers; in my experience, Ive always prefered the sound of an EI Core Xfrmr over a Toroidal.

The ARC guy was very patient with the reviewer's dopey questions/comments and (failed) attempts to be funny.

I honestly think a dry humour type of visit or interview is a lot better than a funny guy giving a tour. It doesn't detract you from the subject.

Nice behind-the-scenes of a great company. However, for the purpose of showing a video, the first thing you should learn is how to hold the camera sturdy. That's "Basic Film 101!" I wonder how many other viewers got motion sickness due to the fact that you could not hold the camera sturdy without panning all over the place. "Shaky Cam."
