Excellent comparison analysis 👏.....what i really need, is to add myself into the video to see the thousand mistakes i make in comparison!!! Lol

I really like this side-by-side comparison format. It helps me to understand the little details like timing, how long a person holds a glide or executes a push and what difference this makes to the overall skating mechanics. When I see one person at a time I don't always appreciate those differences.

That is my problem with my underpush, I open my skate too much because of the positions of my ankles. Kelly Springer was just telling me about this problem today!!

I think the major different is 'the falling' .. Bart's falling is a little bit longer which make a stronger regular push and create an automatic snap moment on the pushed leg (also stronger force on the next under push) . Compare with Felix has very smooth landing and double-contact but he must use a little hips and back muscle to bring the pushed leg back.

Awesome I haven’t worn my skates for awhile now

Top skater also has a wider stance especially when the landing comes down.

Yes it’s for the double push

Great video, Pascal, and excellent analysis. One thing I suspect is that Bart's underpush involves more straightening of the knee than Felix, and also moves a bit more forward at the furthest point of the underpush. Would be interesting to do the same video analysis from the side view. What video software did you use for this?

Hey Pascal- I really love your analyzing videos but there is something missing- something I have not seen and would really like to is a good breakdown of a powerful female skater like Sandrine, Katharina or Francesca- would you indulge the ladies? Pretty please?
@ThePascalbriand
@ThePascalbriand 3 года назад
yes i know... i get a lot less opportunity to see then and film them. I really hope i can film more women soon. I have one of Sandrine actually now and i hope to find time next week to work on it a bit.... i have one of Chloé Geoffroy also which can be good... let me try to do those soon; thanks for folllowing the channel

hi Pascal, how important is getting the correct angle at 4:53, for the average speed skater?
@ThePascalbriand
@ThePascalbriand 3 года назад
Dan Flanagan I don’t have data for many skater ... also please note than those angle can have a margin of error based or their position compare to the camera but I choose some moment here it’s quite correct I think. On 110mm or on different surface angle can be different too. Search for the angle your are confortable with and if you notice the number are low for you then work on ankle stability
@ThePascalbriand
@ThePascalbriand 3 года назад
I recommand people I teach to get 180 or little more in the angle at 4.53 from the video... the better stiffer your shoes are the easier it’s to get it perfect.
@danflanagan9536
@danflanagan9536 3 года назад
@@ThePascalbriand so ideally the leg should be in line with the wheels, which would then equal 180 ?
@ThePascalbriand
@ThePascalbriand 3 года назад
Dan Flanagan little more than 180 Is the best in my opinion but it should be adapt to what people feel under the feet (influenced by the shape of their feet ... double arched ... flat étc... ) and by the natural position Of ankle probation or supination ... those are factors that create different technical advices
