Hour Of Victory more like Hours Of Agony haaaaaaa thanks for joining me on twitch guys! If you want to hang out in the future, consider giving a follow! www.twitch.tv/jarek4gamingdragon EDIT: No, Games for windows live DOES NOT WORK WITH THIS GAME. It works with other games, this one is busted. I have done plenty of work arounds. The work around you used for another game does not apply to this one.
@@robertwhitstone3741 varies per province, where I am in BC its 19 to drink and posess weed (who under 19 doesn't?) But in Alberta you can drink at 18 and drive (learners permit) at 14. BC its 19 and 16. But we had the age of consent at 14 until 2008. Stupid liberals. Consevative party ain't much better either, it's literally liberalism on a different platform. The sad thing is that the developers were boasting about how this was the first WWII game to use the Unreal Engine 3, and how awesome it would all look and feel as a result. Whereas the game looks barely PS2 quality in terms of visuals. Now you know why this game is considered the game that killed off the WWII shooter genre for a long time. You have my deepest sympathies.
@@SawdEndymon I can't see any info on that they closed down. I thought they just made a VR game for PS4. But could be wrong I know this game killed Midway also Blacksite. But not sure if it killed NFusion. They were working on a horror game last I checked for Wii.
I've heard even if you can get the game working past the title screen on PC, you have to extensively manually re-edit a config file related to checkpoints to prevent the game from crashing every time you reach a check point. Shit's fucked, yo.
I just bought a family guy game thats no longer on steam for almost 50 and if u switch to windowed mode from fullscreen and close the game you cant open the game again you are just screwed.
HEY shout out to Yellow Dog Disk! Ive been going there for years, its a awesome little CD, Record, old video game store a town over from me in Wilmington NC!
I think the reason you regen health by standing still is because they couldn't bother to program a timer for when you start healing after getting shot, so they just make it that you have to stand still because you can really only safely do that behind cover.
Pretty sure Robin Atkin Downes voices a character in this game? Kazuhira Miller himself. I'll never forget his character he played in The Saboteur, Sean Devlin. Its ingrained into my mind. Love that game!
@@NexusKin I'd love it to be backcompat on the newer Xbox consoles. Along with Mercenaries 2, The Outfit, Max Payne 3, Majin and The Forsaken Kingdom, Jericho, Fracture, Blacksite. Hey even Hour of Victory. Just to improve its performance. Get some easy achievements out of it. Two Worlds 1&2 should be backcompat on Xbox consoles also. Two Worlds 2 is actually very good. And Two World's 1 could benefit from the extra horsepower in the Xbox consoles. It runs awfully on 360, even with a SSD.
Yellow dog discs seems like a local (for their area) store that sells online as well. Neat ^-^ I checked them out after you mentioned them Jerek .. I have a good history ordering from places like them so I recommend checking their site out. But yeah... this game was bad
oh Jarek, you've brought me some old memories, I was dying to try this game, when I did, I couldn't even finish the first segment of the game, not the first level, the first segment, gosh this game was so horrible, I am surprised you made to the final boss
Games for the windows live was a sick practical joke by the Germans during WW2 to troll gamers. It's no wonder why the game wouldn't allow you to play on PC.
I remember seeing this game on the 360's on-demand store, downloading the demo, and being very much baffled at how absolutely terrible it was. The one thing that stuck out besides the horrid framerates was that boneheaded regenerating health system.
I greatly appreciate that their is someone out there that covers obscure fps games, both good and bad. Thank you for what you do and all the entertainment you bring!
What’s with WW2 games names that have the word “of”? Day of Defeat, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, and Hearts of Iron are the examples that are in my mind.
Some of my fav ww2 shooters include: Half of Life Halo: Combat of Evolved Duke of Nukem Doom of Eternal Bio of Shock Cry of Sis Battle of Field Counter of Strike
I remember this game simply from watching Geoff (I think it was Geoff anyways) from RoosterTeeth playing this game back when Achievement Hunter first started and them trying to beat this game on hardest difficulty. Looked miserable haha
I remember playing the demo for this way back when and weirdly playing it several times just to see how bad it was. I was hooked to see how many things they got wrong.
That tank mission was also an escort mission. Guy dies in the tank? You start over, and I think there's ONE checkpoint, maybe. That's why I just said "fuck the tank" and leave it at the start... but if I went too far, the mid-level rubble blocks my way back AAAAA the guy dies, start over!
The whole character select idea is interesting for its time, badly implemented but still. Another ww2 game from the year before did something similar and imo was better then this. The game in question is commandos strike force, it might be a nice cleanser after these agonizing hours.
I also played that but didn't finish it there was a particularly difficult level where you play both the Sniper and the Commando where you have to control both.
Oh man. I won this game from a giveaway from a YT channel in like 2009-10. While I say won it was more like a loss cause I played 10 minutes of it and I have no idea where it went after those 10 minutes lmao. What an awful experience
Growing up I remember you from airsoft gun vids and a snowboarder hat and beard. Now I’m 24 watching you play I game I played when I last used to watch you. And now you look like Jackson galaxy at a job interview. Oh the inevitable March of time
A hundred goddamn dollars?! Like, I know that not many copies were probably originally sold, but there's gotta be demand to justify the price, scarcity alone doesn't do it. Who wants this?
I remember this game being hyped as "no mission will play the same way twice" Yeah enemies might do something slightly different, but they're still extreamly dumb.
I had this game about 10 years ago and remember trading it in at my ASDA Supermarket (they did trade ins would you believe) along with like 4 other games for about £7. After seeing the prices in NA I checked online for copies here in the UK. Glad to say they are selling for about £3, which is about the price you'd pay for a 360 game these days anyway. Had a mini heart attack that maybe I'd sold away a rare gem
"About that gun, go on try to pick it up" But before that here have an ad for Doom Eternal the game you'll be WANTING to play, thanks as always RU-vid.
I'm reasonably certain this game is actually a rip-off of Commandos Strike Force. First person WW2 game and with 3 different playable soldiers (An Assault dude, a sniper and a stealth dude, though the Spy in Commandos could use disguises and such.) The devs for this also made Deadly Dozen and a few other games, they are on steam but Hour of Victory isn't.
HoV's PC port only got released in Europe and incorporated GFWL which was almost never a mandatory requirement for a European-exclusive PC game release, meaning that you can't even play the port unless you use the European client of GFWL.
I know... I KNOW they're not FPS games. But I would be GENUINELY curious to hear your opinions on the Lost Planet franchise. I think there's a lot to be said about them and you do quality analysis videos.
Personally I haven’t had the pleasure of playing this game myself, but being an advid first person shooter gamer and achiever I can tell you for a fact that you were a little hard on this game. While yes sure it’s probably not up there with all the well known shooters at the time like Call of duty 4, Bioshock etc, it’s actually not too bad compare to the hundreds of poorly built FPS games you can get on PC like The History Channel: Battle for the Pacific 2007 or Crossfire 2007 or Dusk-12: Deadly Zone 2007. I mean with all things considered and when comparing to the other low Budget shooters of the time, I don’t think it’s all that bad, plus your lucky to even have a fully fledged campaign for these sort of games. So all and all I’d say 6 out of 10 for lower budget FPS game.
Oh yeah, I think I remember watching you play this and saying how the music sounded like the composer hadn't even seen the game he was writing for. ...possibly more than once. but to be fair, as a musician who likes games and works with modders sometimes, it's like a cardinal sin to me. 'cause it means I actually, without hyperbole, could have done better than the supposed professionals who made this crap. Even back in 06-07, when I was a teenager just starting out writing my own tunes (and believe me I wasn't exactly a prodigy -- I can't even listen to stuff I wrote more than four or five years ago) I could have done better than that. Though, to be even fairer, most people probably could.
i remembered I played the demo to this game when I was 9 upon seeing this vid. It must have been the level where you're in the desert cause I have zero memory of the rest of it.
I know you don't really seem into sprite-shooters but if you want a good pallet cleanser of a WW2 FPS you might want to look at Blade of Agony - it's a standalone DOOM mod that is basically a Wolfenstein game of old.
I love it when PC versions are released in seperate regions, thank god for piracy. Remember Tony Hawks Underground 1? The PC version was only released in Austrailia, makes sense.
Hey if you re looking for a game going “unther the radar”? There’s a game call inversion, it is on steam. It like a gears of wars clone with gravity powers. I really liked the game, espeacially the last third of the game. The game was forgotten a long time agoe. I wouldn’t know the game if was not for an old video of TN tecno from argentina, also hello from argentina.
I remember that there was a no games for windows live crack for gta 4 back in the day so you probably could have made it work eventually if you looked hard enough.
I actually liked some of the mechanics from that game. It was a Halo clone that wasn't excellent by any means, but still managed to put together a somewhat decent gameplay experience.
I have this very very faint memory of playing this game back when I had just purchased my Xbox360. Got stuck on that tank section iirc. Didn't remember it being this bad 😂
I am hoping we can get you to do the video game "Secret Service (2008" Finished it after thinking the first two levels were alright but god was it boring. I also think it'd be cool if you did 'Enemy Front' But for the console. I played the first hour and had to stop. Something about the graphics was giving me a headache and fighting did not feel great at all. I either had a broken controller or the game just had bad aiming. But aiming was a pain. Edit: Oh how could I forgot! I really want to see you do the video game " Battleship" The most. The game based off of the movie. It might've been due to playing a bunch of bad games beforehand, but I got to say that I actually had fun with Battleship. Was interesting in how they went about making the game. I have yet to finish it. But I can't imagine there is much else to the game besides being probably around 2-3 hours long.
The only good thing about this game is that it has some of the easiest achievements ever. You just have to speedrun the levels on the easiest difficulty with each character and you'll have almost all of them already.
Yellow Dog Disc's is a store I live near! I've shopped there for years, it's so weird because I probably handled that game before you because I look through their Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One games
The one _good-ish_ thing I remember from this game (by which I mean, "it made me laugh") was watching the little "stance indicator man" t-bag when I spammed crouch. Yeah, that's about all the enjoyment I got out of it Hour of Victory.
I remember playing the demo of Hour of Victory back in the day. I don't remember liking it or disliking it, but I certainly forgot about it at some point.
I did not even know this game existed. And I have played almost every WWII shooter - even the crappiest ones like Enemy Front or The History Channel's Battle for the Pacific.
I remember playing this game on my pc (the game disk and all, when it worked) and my xbox 360 afew years back. First few missions where okey, nothing really special. Then it peaked for me at that stealth section in some sewers. But then.... that god... damn... tank mission
Did these guys happen to make the first call of duty? I swear the first person animations are exactly the same and some of the gun models look identical
As an achievement fan I played/boosted the MP years and years ago, but I've yet to go back for the SP. Oddly hearing how bad it is, makes me want to play it more. I need to see for myself. It's why I played Ride to Hell. Call it morbid curiosity I guess.
Sometimes playing terrible games is actually pretty fun in a weird way just to see how bad it actually is and why devs thought it was a good idea to make such an awful game
This was the first ever game I got that contained shooting, my dad bought it for me whilst my mum was in hospital giving birth to my sister, will always hold some great nostalgia for this
