John Walker it’s a kinda crappy game that I think was made in France and well here’s the plot, also it’s a sequel to iron storm which is way crappier than bet on soldier. Bet on Soldier is set on an alternate Earth in the year 1998, during a war that has lasted for 80 years (which is ww1) and shows no signs of ever stopping. Every aspect of society revolves around warfare. Everyone earns their income through war; all men are paid soldiers, and women and the elderly work in the weapons manufacturing industry. The world is in a perpetual state of war between two competing power blocs: from the West, the Western Republic Federation (WRF), and from Asia, the United Asian Nations (UAN). The populace seeks solace from this grim world mainly through escapist television entertainment, with the most popular programming being "Bet On Soldier", in which elite soldiers face off against each other in one-on-one deathmatches, and where viewers can wager on the outcome of the fights. Even though this game isn’t that good it has a pretty kick as idea of a alternate time line and has some serious fallout vibes which kinda gives me an idea of what the wars in fallout would’ve looked like.
The HUD is just a shadeless 3d object that's locked to the camera's location and rotation. A lot of game dev beginners tutorials use this method for a quick and easy HUD implementation,, but it could also be the result of an engine limitation.

Only thing I like about this game is the genuinely unique shotgun and the intro where our main hero just blunty admits to the security guard why he is there and he just scoffs it off as a bad joke. Also, The game ends with such an anti-climax, it renders the players whole journey a moot point.
Thank you for your suffering. The stream was one of the most enjoyable so far. ....Aside from getting lost every ten minutes and the game making it impossible to progress at stupid moments. At least the weapon designs and ragdoll physics were decent.
So... i'm a one of developers of this game (also Liquidator2 and Utopia City) i in charge of Bots ( animation, navigation, some of AI). So, i agree, for almost all. I just want to note: bot's cant see through glass, its bug, but still. Bots trying to find a place where they can attack, somtimes they cant, thats why they looks so stupid, but they can even avoid line of fire of each other, navigate amid dynamic obstacles, but who cares, if player kill them in few seconds :)
@@dumpylumpo5525 According to the information on an old russian forum, the owner ran out of funds (it also was hinted he has sick, but could have been a mistranslation). The whole company was a mess, since the departments didn't seem to communicate with each other.
Say Roman, if you're around to read this, we in the Exodus running scene that is still active after that recent challenge mentioned above have been trying to figure out what the heck QTE was? Apparently the game engine for all three Parallax Arts games released was called the Riposte Engine, but sometime a few years prior to Exodus' release there was this acronym(?) being thrown around on the Parallax Arts and toolsmedia sites for a QTE thing that seems to be what eventually became Exodus. The international version of Exodus has QTE in its command console descriptor as opposed to "Riposte Engine" seen in the older Russian release along with the other two Riposte Engine titles. QTE shows up in other places too. So yeah, any clue what QTE was? Thanks.

Weirdly specific but, for some reason, the why the mouths move really minds me of the teleprompter scene from Bruce almighty. Like they move Weirdly fast and awkwardly. Especially the very first cut scene shown with the guy on the screen. I don't know, for some reason that popped into my head
I actually like the general look of this game, even if it was a little outdated, it's problems are all relative to design mistakes... With an actual lead designer maybe this game could have been way better.

It's one of these FPS' I eventually started running into after having played a number of underrated ones by mostly dead developers. You are empty, Vivisector, Necrovision are all pretty good and even Chaser has enough good to mostly counteract the bad. Exodus of the Earth I honestly stopped playing after that really annoying section where you are supposed to execute some unclear action in a large room while the enemies are constantly respawning. Other cases more or less like this were Red Ocean, Hellforces, Dusk 12, Alpha Prime and some others. The Stalin Subway (Metro-2) was ok, but the epxansion Red Veil seems to suffer from some kind of problem with the difficulty. It's an unbelievable quickload-fest. Psychotoxic wasn't great, but included some interesting ideas. I didn't play Dreamkiller long, but it might also be worth a look. It's by the team that made Painkiller-Overdose if I remember correctly. I'm probably forgetting about some others. Anyway, while I think you are a bit too harsh on Chaser I had a difficult time finding much to like in this one. Yeah yeah, I know it's three years old :-)
This game at least has an ending. MorphX, also a Russian game, has the main character defeat a giant alien, monologues to himself about how he has no future other than to fight "The Swarm" themselves while he walks down a road, then it cuts to CG of him running down a road with a few "Persecutor" enemies before he jumps into a force field and then cuts to credits. Perhaps these Russian games ran out of budget so they tied up the ending quickly. In MorphX I could at least imagine a third section where he fights the aliens in their planet, and in this game a section where the guy has to escape the exploding base. The arbitrariness of these endings give me this feeling, at least.
It always gets me when games look this bad from a year like 2008, when _5 years earlier_ games like 007: Everything or Nothing on the original Xbox looked outstanding, and still to this day looks pretty damn good for its age.

Or Devastation, you know - that game with Eminem on the cover :] 13:00 criticizing old games is valid, the problem is - new games are not always better than old games.
If you want another Exodus from the Earth type game, there is Alpha Prime. (If you want a good game that many folk didn't like but do now, Sniper Ghost Warrior 3. I think it's because those who don't shell out on release are playing it now. Those that look for a good game at a good price. It does have the odd bug like a 'time of day' bug, which can be fixed with a mod. Plus I found I had to re-equip my tool to F very regularly.)
I’ve seen that South African AR in one the SOCOM games on the PSP. I think it was called SOCOM tactics or tactical I can’t remember. Definitely not in any of the Fireteam Bravo games.

Why program a 2d hud that can take time and cause problems with scaling when you can just slap a 2 polygon plane with transparent texture in front of camera and call it a day xD
Anybody ever remember the PS2 game were you play as the blue dude with Vietnam styled combat gear and you come out of these like drills from the ground I think in your invasion and everyone basically gets wiped out bar you.
@@everythingsgonnabealright8888 Nah he drained every ounce of fun out of it until there was nothing good to say about it. Basically it was 90% negatives and 10% positives.
It's indeed a tedious game with lots of backtracking, maze like maps, bugs, underpowered shotgun and enemies with aimbots installed. The long vehicle drive section was the cherry on the cake in terms of annoyance. Not recommended though I don't think it's the worst fps out there.
