I used to run PTA Elections. Approximately 100 people voted for 8 positions. 5 people had to do the tally 5 times until we all had the same answers. Someone was off by 1 here and there in the first 4 counts. This is a shit show in the making!

In the UK, machine counting of ballot papers gets used in at very least some constituencies too, and the candidates and other interested parties can observe the counts. It's easy to verify counting machines are accurate and working correctly, just randomly select a batches of say a 1,000 votes or so and recount them in another machine and then by hand to confirm the machine counts are right.

On the other hand, if this is done with ONE official scrutineer from each party and the head poll worker bringing the ballots to a room where they are counted 2x, spoiled ballots are removed, and both parties sign off on the exact count. NO ONE can then say there was corruption cuz YOUR guy was there to watch the count in person.
@@johnrutherford407 Rubbish, the machines get tested before and after to make sure they produce an accurate count, and you can re-count randomly selected batches of votes by hand and on another machine to verify the counts tally and are correct. Machine counting is faster and has been repeatedly shown to be more accurate, banks wouldn't use machines to count banknotes if it wasn't accurate.

We do elections so well in California. There's none of these shenanigans. Whether you live in a red or blue county, you can vote with ease. I'm a registered voter. They send me my ballots every election, and i can send it in with many different options. In 2020, I went in person. This time, I'm dropping it off at a ballot box at the library next to my house. This is exactly what these people are doing. If they distrust electronic machines so much, do they also send mails by carriers instead of emails? The answer is clearly no. Mail In ballots should be at least partially processed when recieved. Voters can be contacted if errors are found with the paperwork so that counting can be done quickly on election day.

Nebraska has a Superior Majority Government due to Gerrymandering. Maine has a Bipartisan Commission assigned to draft their redistricting Maps.
That's how Australian elections operate! The number of ballots have to be tallied by hand before leaving the site. Polling Place managers are there from 6.30am until around midnight in the larger polling stations. Although formally counted on the night; everything is recounted over the next two weeks by the Divisional Returning Officer (equivalent to your Election Boards) and have to have a final signoff. This suggests a procedural issue with how the whole system is run by the Election Boards to start with.
There are 11 million people in Georgia alone. I think the volume of ballots that need to be counted vs the number of people counting is part of the problem. Plus you need you need people counting also at least a number of equal people watching
