Thanks so much for the scale explanations. I’ve been wondering for the longest time about the pros and cons of ascending 1-2 vs 1-2-3 fingerings as well as descending fingerings. Now I can settle on a fingering and practice the scale to get faster!
I wouldn't have known the different kinds of fingerings of the c major scales if not for your videos. It has made my learning of violin more interesting. Thank you.
as a beginner & as a violin lover I do apreciate anything I could learn about. Now improving step by step thanks to videos like these, its like a real dream in reality - hard to believe since my skills for playing music instruments are pretty raw
I also have a strong inclination towards Galamian’s school because of the very same reasons you have listed, his publishments such as the art of violin have also significantly shaped my practice and overall philosophy
Hi Joy! I love your videos. Even if I am not working on the particular topic, I always watch to try and learn something new from them. Would you make a video about hand frame, hand position and big large intervals in Dont Caprice no. 5?
Thank you as well MNK. Here is a video I already made about it. Happy violin practising! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d60itIcQ6C0.html
Hi Bishal, Barbara scale book (for advanced players) is one of nice scale books in which it offers many variations of rhythm and slurs. This can be particularly helpful to young students and self learning violinists as it is easy to follow and understand. I wish you lots pf wonderful practising!
Thank you once again Joy! You have helped us all so much in so many areas. I have a question. I am having a hard time learning the diminished and dominant seventh three octave scales. I am using the Flesch system. Could you make a video about how to do those scales with proper intonation?
Very helpful information! Would like to ask: Do you usually keep all your fingers down? Example: on A string with odd finger pattern (Bb C D# E) playing 1,4,2,3 do you press finger 4,2,3 (C D# E) down at the same time when you’re playing E or you press them only when you’re going to play them? I was told to press them together but I find myself having difficulties to press them at the same time, sometimes there’s additional note played before the 4th finger because it is way slower than the 2nd and 3rd finger. Another example: when you’re playing 1323, when do you put your 2nd finger down? While playing 3 or when you’re going to play 2? Can you talk more about this?
Hi Ashton, for a beginner instructors encourage students to keep all fingers down, however as soon as your left hand frame is built, one should learn how to keep each fingertips light and learn to keep LH most efficient by leaving only the active fingers on. If you have to play 3rd and 2nd finger one after the other in fast tempo, it would be most efficient to place both fingers on to make sure there is no delay or noise between notes Happy violin practising!
Hi Abdul, here are some videos in that regard. I hope they are helpful. Happy practising! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XAixA4gg0Ck.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GBYJMaZOE5s.html
