This is brilliant, I had a good laugh :-). I experienced the same level of teaching with my teacher, Ms. Sonia Jelinkova, member of the Montreal Symphony orchestra, and professor at McGill University, who was a student herself of Mr. Galamian, and assisted him a bit at Meadowmount during her youth. So many scales, and Kreutzer, Rode, Dont and Gaviniès studies also! :-) My bow technique improved so much in the first months I studied with her, and my playing, in general!
Scales dont help at all if you dont practice and play them perfectly in tune. BUT whatever you practice and play in tune will help you to get better. Scales are only ONE combination of notes. They wont help you to play other combinations of notes( like at the beginning of Mendelssohn or Brahms concertos.) And NOBODY is talking about strenght, muscle work, streching work, pressure, resistance training. Galamian was a charlatan and his books are all rubbish.
