Thanks to Troy Revell for breaking down this offense during the January 2011 USA Ultimate Level II clinic in Chapel Hill, NC. This presentation attempts to answer the following questions about the horizontal offense: 1) How does this strategy work with the big idea? What defense/conditions would this work best against? What defense/conditions would this have difficulty with? What team/individual strengths are utilized? Where are the live/dead spaces? How does it cycle? Suggested drills to practice?

I disagree with having the handlers behind - this allows defenders to poach into the lane and force your offense to lose yards. Set up slightly in front of the disc - if the handlers play smart, recognize the poaches, and use their pump-fakes, then they can easily just swing the disc and gain yards rather than getting pushed back.
