Go to www.payloadbay.com , under "tools" go to "fin guide tool". You input the number of fins, fin thickness, and body tube diameter, and you get a printable PDF file with the jig outline. Print that and glue it to some craft store foam board, then cut out the outline. It's free and it works great.

How did you sand the bevel on your fins for this project?
@flyfalcons
@flyfalcons 5 лет назад
The fins came pre-beveled from Wildman. If they weren't then I would probably run them through a table saw with the blade set about 8 degrees off, like I did with some 3/8" ply fins on my latest Black Brant II project.

Why didn't you sand the tube for the fillet also?

Good question, the tube does get sanded, I just didn't do a good job showing that in the video.

"Fillet" "Fillet" . The proper way to pronounce "fillet" is fillay." The et makes a long "a" sound like in the word "say." I know, I have said it just like you numerous times till I have a language arts professor correct my pronunciation. Nice video other wise. Just wonder what your other project is that has all the sheet metal holder on it.

Tell your language arts professor they are wrong. The dictionary lists both pronunciations, with fil-ay as primary for when filet/fillet are used in cooking. Otherwise fill-it is correct. The project in the background is an RV-7 homebuilt airplane; those are the wings.
