I'm sad to say that my poor little Anbernic RG351V did not last more than a month before developing a significant defect, which in turn rendered it useless. The error "No Gamepads Detected" began happening after my 3rd or 4th full charge of the unit. Prior to this happening, I was happily playing Aladdin, The Lion King, Pokemon, Soul Calibur, NBA Jam, and many other titles. But alas, one day I turned it off (Not rest mode, but completely off), and things were never the same afterward.
Now upon further research, this does not appear to be an isolated issue as the internet forums and RU-vid are FLOODED with other users experiencing the exact same issue. Some are caused by a faulty SD card and/or software, some are due to a lack of battery percentage, and others such as mine appear to be due to a faulty GL852G USB controller chip (amberelec.org/....
So, if my experience was not so positive with this Anbernic RG351V device, why am I making a video about it? Well, for a couple of reasons...
Although my time with the unit was short-lived, I LOVED the experience I had with my Anbernic RG351V. So much so that after my RMA is completed, I am very much looking forward to jumping back into some of my favorite retro ROMs.
The horror stories I have seen in online forums, RU-vid videos, and otherwise about resellers such as Amazon Marketplace Sellers, Aliexpress, Alibaba, and otherwise failing to support their client's returns for defective units is shocking and frankly offputting and may lead to consumers not wanting to try one of these devices for themselves. I wanted to share my experience with Hekka, and would recommend anyone interested in an Anbernic device to purchase from their store for excellent support in the event of a DOA such as mine.
Now I have worked with Hekka in the past ( • MUST HAVE MacBook Acce... ); however, they have not paid me to recommend purchasing this device from their store. This recommendation stems solely from my after-service experience with this Anbernic RG351V issue.

Mine legit started doing this today and leaving it on the charger for 2 hrs it started there than began to work normally. Now ive seen people say this normally happens when the battery is lower than 40%-35% but i tend to let mine die so i can fully charge it while its dead and ive owned mine for about a year now.

I’ve never had this issue. I only ever run it on the battery and then I charge the device when it hits about 10%. I charge for 3 hrs (no more, no less). Also using 351Elec.

I had a similar issue. Take the battery out and put it back in. Solved my battery level indicator issue as well.

I get it less if I hit reset twice back to back. Brought mine from a market so no chance to get a replacement. Shame lovely little device

Ok I managed to fix mine, dismantled and removed battery cable, and put it back again. After that, started the device and left it on, eventually it detected my pad in ArcOS. Waited about 4 hours with device switched on, let screensavee run. Now this is the important part, issue recurs, I think there needs to be some snyc between os and gamepad charging status, so ensure you charge with cable inserted, only shut down with cable inserted and you see its charging. The initially start-up with cable also jnserted...it has resolved my problem... if resolved remember to recharge if battery is less than 35%.. my device is now more or less fixed... hope this helps. Really unhappy when it occurred, but the device is pretty fun.

@@qwazyd0gg glad to be of help. I was quite stunned when this happened to me as well, so I was looking for resources until I came across your video. My problems emerged when I used up my entire battery, when depleted... that's when controls were gone. So I kinda thought since they aren't gonna refund me... might as well open it and check, realised that the battery utilisation is wrongly tracked and since there is a hardware portion which is distinct from battery status of the device as it is for the gamepad, I came to a realisation that it may have been a syncing problem between the two layers. My suspicions were confirmed when I let the battery charge purge and let the chip, where it probably stores pad related stuff, snyc over like 4 hours. After that I put in the usb c to charge it to let all the layers 'know' that device charging has begun. And I only remove cable when I restart the device. Sometimes the charging icon still remains, so I restart it once more and it performs as per normal for me now... Was a real headache, thanks for making this video. But unfortunately you gotta get your hands dirty to resolve this, vendors give you lotsa trouble when requesting for a replacement. Either way, I'm thinking of getting a better battery of about 4000mh it will last longer... Note the issue, again, is pad stores stuff differently than the os... so if your device reaches 0... you're in for trouble, I think some distributors may have been distributing empty battery devices hence the issue... there is an obvious sync issue between the gamepad and the os... makes sense, since they don't even have a default firmware for this device... but that's how it was resolved.... the device is great, solid design, really enjoyed it tremendously.

This happened to me and I actually tried your fix and it worked like a charm weirdly enough! Although have to ask, did the issue ever came back once you did this fix or should I be safe as long as I don't drain the battery fully?

@@dumbzillarobo1212 yes it did, just avoid the battery depleting to less than 30%. You may also wanna know that sporadically if the device is updated, i am on arkos, then you may face an issue. In those situations, just leave the device switched on for a while, it will eventually detect the pad and issue goes away. Just make sure battery is charged. I would also recommend start charging when device is on, notice the icon changes to that charging one, then shut the device. So at least you know that the firmware knows device is being charged... just to be safe.my own problem has resolved permanently after this.

@@illuminatusdeus3051 Yeah it happened when I was trying how long my Odroid Go Battery will last compared to the stock (Lasted an hour more than stock) draining it up to 8% and after that, I charged it to full battery and everything was fine for an hour or two but out of nowhere the controls weren't being detected. I was trying to find a fix and almost lost hope when I find out it may be the controller chip being defective but good thing I found your fix and now it works great again. Guess next time I'll charge it immediately when the light indicator appears red instead of trying to push the battery. Thanks again for this fix, man! You're a life saver!

It’s worth a shot. Theoretically it should work since the OS is housed on the card and not the unit itself.

I got 351elec to boot, but it’s hit or Miss whether or not it recognizes the controller, and I haven’t figured out how to load the games yet on the new OS
