@@jwill7998 that would be so much more expensive. The idea is that through these guys building generations of retro game handhelds as tech developes your able to contribute to the growing of a newer albiet smaller industry
If they put a fancy high powered cpu in here they would have to increase the price a bunch and add a touch screen and all this. But by using cheaper internals they can let you play retro games while still holding a quality metal handheld and having fun. I just ordered a rg280m for 75
@@jwill7998 putting in an old flagship chip makes no sense because the supply just isn’t there. They make them for flagship orders, and when that’s done they stop making them. Now Odyn is using an SD 845, but that’s the exception not the rule. My guess is that their orders compared to mobile phones is low, so they could probably get a good deal on some unsold chipsets, but for that to work you must have some good local Guangdong Guanxie. Also could be they ordered the chips a long time ago, and were just sitting on them until funding went through. Personally I would think it would be easier to repurpose old flagship chips like apple does as you would save a ton on research. And maybe SD do that with lower end chips. An SD 765 might just be a repurposed SD 845. To your point an SD 7 series chip should handle everything up to PSP and Dreamcast and lower end GC and PS2 games. Those mid range phones still come in at $300 plus. Though some of those $100 boost phones seem to also do well on emulation. I think then we are looking at costs for tooling and moulding, not just chip. And honestly on those little screens a wide screen psp game probably doesn’t even play well. Anyway I just want emulation up to Playstation and I’m good. That’s still 1000s of games.
@@certifiedbruhmoment85 I've already added roms. My issue is that only the gameboy roms work. The MAME roms however, don't even show up in the emulator after I link them using the same process that works with the gba ones.
The left joystick on the RP2 needs swapped with the d-pad, and that right thumb slider needs replaced with a legit joystick. The RG series has the best layout, hands down.
Arzeon what would you recommend for someone buying first handheld. RG350M seems like the most reliable option up until PS1 but it costs quite a bit of money. Retroid Pocket 2 is also a viable candidate although running on android causes input lag and more powerfull processor drains battery a lot faster. Seen people run into bleeding light issues aswell. At this point Im wondering if it isn't worth more to splurge for PiBoy DMG since with Pi4 you can run anything you throw at it.
I have ordered the piboy dmg but it didn't arrive. They keep delaying the shipments due to issues so buying it right now is not a great option imo. Look into rk3326 based handhelds, they run something similar to retropie and are quite capable in terms of emulation. I'll review the metal rk2020 soon so stay tuned!

The rg350m has 2 times the resolution of the rg350 so it will look better. But the rg350p has the same resolution. It looks better because its a laminated screen.
wrong.. display is only 320x240 - NOT 320x480.. why is nobody talking about this??? i made few tests on my RG280m and every single screenshot (FBA, OSWAN, TEMPER..) / setting shows resolution only 320x240.. why is nobody suspicious about screen resolution with aspect ratio of this screen? dont get me wrong, i love this device - its awesome emulation handheld with unbeaten build quality, but anbernic is lying to us.. (i am using Rogue CFW from RG350m)
It's even worse: the display is 320x240, but has "staggered" pixel layout, like the RG300 IPS screen. Basically it has really 480 lines of "pixels", but each line is offset by 1/2 pixel, the screen is then addressed as a 320x240 logical screen so you'll get "diagonal looking" pixels because each logical pixel is made up of two slightly offset half pixels.

Ummm... those 3 systems all play the same games. You could've bought a DS, 3DS, or Vita to play all the games that those 3 redundant systems don't play. The only reason that I'm getting an Anbernic is because a modded Vita struggles with a few arcade games (Turtles in Time, CPS3).
