Thanks Andy, we cant wait to go out anchoring again. Not this weekend though as there's a storm brewing. We got up to 40mph gusts coming tonight and thunder and rain.

Hiya gentleman, anchoring is the best. We just watched your vid at anchor after a spectacular crossing of the IJsselmeer north of Amsterdam. The perfect way to enjoy the summer solstice.

Hey guys, yeah we really enjoyed it, looking forward to doing it again. Next time we may have the dinghy blown up so we can go exploring ashore. We love Amsterdam, what’s your plans for this season?

Nice one! We watched your vid whilst rolling around on our anchor in North Wales! Sometimes with the tides as they are, you’ve got no choice but to drop the hook and wait for the next ebb or flood and it’s not always a nice sheltered spot! Cue the rolling you mentioned! It gave us the opportunity to seek out and sort all of the squeaky parts of the boat which seemed to overemphasise the rolling somehow. But totally agree, if you get the anchor set nicely, it’s incredible how sturdy they are and the rolling can become quite melodic, rocking you to sleep. Not gonna lie though, still wake up in utter panic when the rolling gets too bad! Fingers crossed we get used to it 😅 looking forward to seeing your next passages, it’s absolutely lovely seeing our home patch being represented by you guys, a real home from home!

Thank you glad you enjoyed it. One of our aims for the channel is to show off how beautiful our coastline is. Too many people don't document it as they are in a too much of rush to get to warmer climates. Before we came up this way I never knew how stunning the scenery was. It was so nice at that anchorage I was tempted to go for a swim. Chilten Dene park next to the marina....WOW, I never even knew it was there until a month or so ago. Glad you are enjoying boat life too and getting out experiencing things. We are loving your videos by the way, looking forward to the next episode, well done with them, really well edited too.

We have a handy reminder for start up checks: after a while becomes internalized. FWOBBLES: Fuel; Raw water basket; oil; batteries; bilges; leaks; exhaust water flow; stuffing box.

Great idea, especially to check the stuffing box!

Just a thought. With the two switches on the cranking battery, is one of those your emergency parallel? Normal set up would be three switches 1) house battery 2) cranking battery 3) emergency parallel. The emergency parallel is kept closed unless the cranking battery is flat and then it allows you to start the engine off the house battery in an emergency. If this is your setup it's important to keep the emergency parallel closed at all other times to stop your house battey accidentally draining equalising with your cranking battery. There is also usually a voltage sensitive relay somewhere in the system to ensure both battery banks are charging when the engine is on. Hope this all makes sense? Great video and enjoy the summer over there!

Thanks Neil and glad you enjoyed the video. Where abouts are you based? Thanks for the suggestion, I think I have seen this on other boats so know what you mean, but ours isn't set up like that. We had a big electrical upgrade after we bought the boat and got a marine engineer to do it for us. It only had one battery to do every thing before and that's the one that you have to put the 2 switches on to turn it on. Our engineer couldn't work out why it had been wired with 2 switches as he said you only normally use 1. He put us another 2 batteries in with a Victron smart charger and a charge replay switch to the cranking battery, but its wired so that the cranking battery only does the engine and nothing else. Hope that make sense.

@@gavin_and_james_sailing Greetings from a mid-winter in New Zealand. All good, makes sense, although it does seem to be a bit of an odd set-up. I have enjoyed your videos and will carry on following your future adventures. I only stumbled on your channel because we both share the joy (or burden) of owning Volvo Penta engines of a certain vintage. In our case a VP2003T in our Farr1220. It happened that we had a rather alarming experience with ours at about the same time as you guys were having trouble with yours and RU-vid and Google's algorithms did the rest. Happy sailing.

Enjoyed your channel! Just Subscribed.I’m trying to convince my wife that a circumnavigation is a great retirement project and went so far as to even start a little channel (@NavalGazingatCampDavid) to sell her on the life style….desperate times and all that. Lol. Thanks again for the great content. I have a whoooole new appreciation for the time and care it takes to create these episodes!
