Correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure he dont stop that i believe hes worded so he stops YOU the player from the action vs a effect that forces a set. Could be wrong but konami use to have wierd rulings like that
Ancient Gear. The first one you put in C tier. The biggest issue is that you have to control another copy of it to SS it. It would be a lot better if it was off the archtype AGs. It wouldn’t see play in any type of AG. Probably F tier. Low D.
AG Gadget would have been so much better if it had an effect that would let you tribute an additional AG monster, besides your normal summon that turn. It would have internally helped the tribute focused style, without relying on non-archetypal cards like Double Summon and Monarch Stormfront.
Ultimate Pound as a card just pisses me off so much as an AG player. It could have been so much better for the deck but as you guys stated, the deck doesn't run regular Poly bc it has other fusion options that synergise much better with the strategy. On top of that, having the same stipulation as the OG Golem where it can't be SS'd when it's supposed to be a RETRAIN is just preposterous in modern YGO. Being able to attack multiple times is cool but the deck already has many better ways to OTK. Going off on a tangent here but the deck would benefit from either ANOTHER Golem retrain that you can SS, OR a new lower level AG monster that can be treated as Golem on the field. They didn't drop the ball with Ballista so here's hoping Konami continues good AG support if we ever got more. Damn Cyber Dragons/Cyberdarks are getting so much love, why not AGs too? Nice tier list btw, I agreed with most things.

Chaos Giant is weak to monster effects out of battle phase but that’s what makes fortress so iron clad. It protects Giant from targeting and doesn’t let your opponent respond to its summon. Geartown, fortress, and catapult are the holy trinity of the deck. There’s very few decks who can survive that opening hand. This is the card that made me fall in love with the deck because any era of yugioh it spits in the face of meta.
The only problem I run into is because of committing to combo and OTK if they get their combo to get to a special summoning blocker I'm screwed or if they can negate the effect of fortress. The only issue with the going 2nd aggro deck. But it is my favorite so I'm still not giving up on it
@@LordTrent. Then you are playing ancient gears wrong if you're struggling with resources. You can easily make multiple chaos giants by also using verte anaconda. Need more extenders? Urgent schedule into infinitrack anchor and trencher for a free special summon from hand and material for verte. Or run psy-gamma to negate a handtrap to get 2 free bodies on the board or go into psy-framelord. To sum this up, ancient gears have a lot of deckbuilding potential. They are to be feared if you let them go second.
Ancient Gear Reborn is actually really good. It's a continous trap, meaning you can pop it during the opponents turn AFTER he cleared your board with Raigeki or any other removal. Letting you pop a Wyvern for a free search and stall. I usually play Ancient Gears with machina and trains and as long as they dont have backrow removal, i can chain my reborn into my machina citadel's effect after my opponent destroys a machine type monster to get a free 3k beater with a board wipe quick effect on the board plus a wyvern search. One Copy should be enough to avoid bricking. I would put Reborn in B for that. Huge comeback ability.
These guys suck at rankings watch his vids a reason hell have a card B tier or higher hell contradict himself and pus a simular card F Tier. Also the level 5 ancient gear can be a engine for Cyber Dragon infinity hes bad at yugioh or he likes to talk out of his ass lol
I use AG Reborn for respawning Howitzer when I’m at a disadvantage. I can bring back during my turn, burn 1000, and then float into a AGGUP when it’s destroyed.
You didn’t mention that the gadget box can become gold gadget and machine dup it to SS from hand. It gives AGs a bit of flexibility instead of just otk or bust.
Wyvern is 1700 and does not stop spell or trap effects, only monster effects. Useful game winning quirk sometimes, or a fatal mistake. Castle is pretty bad but works on opposing normal summons as well, great in duel links, pretty terrible in normal yugioh. The retrain Ultimate Pound is definitely super pointless though, no idea why bother retraining something and still leave it a brick and pointless.
Wyvern is only monster effects. Also with gajiltron dragon, you should have mentioned that it did actually see play before due to being able to be special summoned off of geartown. This was amazing with the old field spell rulings. Ancient gear machina is a really fun deck in edison format
The ancient gear cards are nerfed to the ground for no reason konami thinks they are broken or someshit every card has a downside for no reason but i love this archetype
The Best A-Gear card is Magical Hats. 🤣 I would put Gear Tank in C tier. Yes the 600atk boost isn't a lot But it's still able to throw 600 damage even when it's destroyed face down. So if you're going to suicide a monster you can also throw that damage. If you just need to throw 1200 damage? Using magical hats can throw that grabbing 2 tanks. Another play is during your battle phase using tornado-twister, Discard a Gear monster to destroy a tank & gear town then special summon that gear you threw away.
Really good ranking. The only thing I might argue IMO is bumping cross-dimensional duel up to at least C just because I've had so many clutched plays where I was about to lose a special monster and using that usually seems to counter most card effects, spells, or traps because it pulls your monster out before their effect goes off. Really helped me in countless duels where I either needed monsters to fusion summon or was just great to resummon my weaker monsters with double attack and kill someone's boss monster like a Blue Eyes for example. But you guys still made valid arguments against it (especially the whole exposing yourself for a turn) so I think C would be more fitting personally.
I would move gadget to S tier solely because if you have Fortress on the field when it is summoned, it has full immunity to almost everything in the game, even better if you summon it with Power Bond and it's an invincible 9k beater.
Technically speaking, the only card Wyvern cannot search is Geartown itself since it doesn’t have “Ancient Gear” in the name. Other search effects like Ballista explicitly say you can search Geartown.
Gentlemen, Elemental Hero Prisma and Ancient gear fusion and then overload fusion. 2 4500atk monsters that aren't effected by traps-spells. Game over in alot of cases. 3 cards.
I really like ancient gear beast in goat format. The negation really helps being that it turns off flips and cards like sangan and dd warrior lady. Its tough to answer as well with the ancient gear spell/trap disabling effect. Only downside is that it cant be special summoned and its atk is on the lower side for a tribute summon
wyvern is not 10,000 times better than knight lol also you complained about waiting a turn to use knight but you also have to wait a turn after using wyverns effect. this is the problem with modern yugioh players. you love your easy summons or being able to get 8 special summons out, its like im watching someone play solitaire. I refuse to play links and pendulums because they make the game too easy and people get salty when you shut down the ability to special summon all of their monsters and i have seen several modern players flip tables at my local shops bc they couldnt basically play solitaire while the person sits there and dies lol after 5D's the game kinda sucked thats when yugioh died.
The level 5 Ancient Gear is B or C tier your not tye best at ranking fam no offense lol. You can go inti rank 5 plays with him easily. Also ya like reading all of em wrong XD Ancient Gear only summons if u have a copy out
This deck is giga cool but the cost/conditions of all cards are too old. ( destroyed by oppenent card/ sent to the GY by oppenents card / cannot set/ cannot e special summonde/ can only be fusion summoned ). Many old archetypes needs to be buffed
Ancient gear castle give 300 attack to all ancient gear monsters and you can use IT as tribute for any ancient gear monster if it has the number of counters you need as tribute it also gains a counter anytime a monster is normal summoned even your opponents mosters so using that card if your opponent doesnt destroy it on there turn you can summon any ancient gear monster from your hand no offense but you explained it a little wrong
You forget that Castle also puts a counter if your opponent summons, which means it's a turn or two less to wait. In Duel Links, there's a skill that plops it onto the field as soon as it's your turn. It's not awful by any means, but it can clog the board a little bit
Only counts for normal-summons. If they special summon stuff you get no bonus. And you have to sac castle to use that tribute summon. It really only helps you if you already have Geartown on the field. It's just too slow nowadays. If you only had to wipe the counters for tributes and Didn't have to sac it, castle would be a much more effective card.
You said you can special summon ancient gear if you control an "ancient gear monster"? No, it's if you control "Ancient gear" specifically. It's only really usable with the new stuff and only worth it if you're doing a spright variant which it's better to do a different build that doesn't include ancient gears.
I made a gadjiltron beatdown deck for fun, it's better than I expected. Ancient gear, box, and gadget are all machine Duplication targets, making ballista Is a cinch, threatening roar keeps my tribute fodder in play for Hydra and Reactor Dragon... it's not amazing but its consistent and a ton of fun.
What happens when you use a counter trap (negate and destroy) on an effect monster that’s effect was activated by a spell card? Is the spell card also destroyed?
I somehow got my 4000 LP opponent who spent 4000 LP to draw 4 cards with a Talker card dunno what it is to 100 LP with a bricked hand and I was on 900 LP, lost tho
Custom card idea: Ancient Gear Power Blast (quickplay spell) This card's name becomes Polymerization while in the deck or GY, but it's still treated as an Ancient Gear card. Effect is basically Ancient Gear Fusion, except it also triples the original attack of the fusion, but makes you automatically loose during your next End Phase. Basically Power Bond+Ancient Gear Fusion taken up to 11, and searchable with the retrain.
God I wish ancient gear and ancient gear explosive had retrains to work on all gear monsters and just be quickplay if explosive was quickplay I wouldn't care my fusions barely have protection I like ultimate and forcing it to float instead of being sent back or banished and doing burn would be so nice Also ancient gear getting a retrain to be specialed on any gear and being a hand trap to just say nah bruh to things like nah you don't Kaiju you get this as tribute instead from my hand thinks about it
