Listening to this and reading The Politics! I probably would have died young and had a hard life if I lived in Ancient Greece, but man, to be alive in a time where these brilliant philosophers learned and taught how to think?! Will we ever make such a discovery again?
Now, one would say that music is a becoming-to-be and a proccess. but before we shall discuss the following we need to talk about the known opinions of this particular subject.
"Where the words fail, music speak" For me the music make you feel such emotion you cannot enjoy with words or others. When you play instruments (electric guitar for me) you have to think your instrument have a voice, just let him talk and sing
JAY D, as far as I know, only one ORIGINAL song was saved (music - in the ancient Greek klimax, not solfege - and lyrics, written together, ) and you can hear it from a group of young Greek musicians, using the seven cords lyre, and other ancient instruments...I videotaped this, during a conference, and could send it to you. :)
@@דניאלאפרתי-מ9תYeah.. they lost their land and today are divided in several communities. Plus their knowledge didn't help the mediterrean discovering the forms of the planets or philosophy in general. Also.. the chosen? By who? By themselves? Only because they were strictly forbidden to not follow any other god or to follow literally their books? They might have been innovative on their own but nowhere near the complexity of greek mythology and philosophy. Even tho their religion was shred apart by christianity, it still remained and will always remain strong in people's minds, and.. their religion is on the way of being restored completely.
I absolutely love this track. Would it be possible for me to use it in one of my upcoming RU-vid videos? I'll ensure to give full credit and link back to your channel. Thanks in advance!
And you'd want to be born a rich man who owned land and was an Athenian citizen, otherwise you'd have a really bad time and couldn't vote legally or have any say in society. I'd forgo the period of Ancient Greece and go back the 1960s. Not as bad as the other earlier periods, but before computers and phones became ingrained in our everyday lives with social media and online bullying. Although, cell phones *are* very handy for emergencies. LOL.
+Christina Kiki We believe so… I believe it sounded a lot better. It’s just us that can not travel back in time to enjoy the real Ancient Greek sounds of that time. But we’re trying our best to represent it in now days. It’s an honor that are so many people that are enjoying this kind of music. Thank you
no this is pseudo ancient greek music...ancient greek music well preserved in current greek and middle eastern music that copied ancient greek music since hellenistic period...
***** hebrews are descendants of native greek tribe in palestain called philistines. egyptians are also the descendants of greeks... yes middle east influenced greece at beginning stage and greece influenced back in hellenistic period until now. why would this be?!? yes because they are all same greek race... we learn in middle school history class that middle easterners now have greek art, greek music, roman/greek architecture, greek science, greek medicine, greek math, greek philosophy etc etc... current middle easternern music is just direct copy of greek music, which is newly invented style in hellenic period and pythagoras invented scale and that particular pythagoras scale is still used in middle east and north africa...greek music spreaded to middle east and north africa and replaced the old music you are talking about...it's Πυθαγόρεια κλίμακα in greek and it's called haqaam in middle east... study basic history that's learned in middle school before assuming things like you cannot say this and say that without realizing it's historical facts I am saying...I don't like people who don't even have common sense or basic knowledge and pretend to know and say something they assume like you...
+Elxi The Observer Can you provide some sources or proof of any kind? You talk about kabbalistic Jews yet earliest kabbalah references first appear in 12 century a.d. (and it's a stolen concept anyway...) I guess you would also know that Egypt had Greek pharaohs from 323 bc untill 30bc and that Jews were under Greek occupation and borrowed a lot from them and thanx to the Greeks their torah exists today... after having also ;;borrowed;; a lot from Persians and their zoroastrianoism again under occupation 600bc... you probably already know that Ancient Greeks are descendants of Mycenaean and Minoan civilisations extending back to prehistory. and they had the oldest writing text 1450bc in Europe.and the oldest homonid in Europe dating at least 400.000 bc.. And by the time Aegeans and Greeks had civilisation and science, arts and technology, Jews (not Semites in general) were mostly uneducated nomads in the dessert....

Jay d In case you didn't already look it up, the Epitaph of Seikilos is the only surviving music found from ancient Greece. Most of this like FM Records said is from studying that style.
Jay d Jay, yes, this music is an attempt to reproduce ancient Music, based on the Epitaph of Seikilos, and findings of ancient Greek texts, musical instruments etc. I trust the ancient music had meaningful lyrics. Fortunately we have many archaeological findings of the musical instruments they used, which have been reproduced over the last centuries. E.g. Check out the Hydravlis (which is a large metallic water flute!) www.mlahanas.de/Greece/Cities/Gouvas/HydraulisDion.jpg
Hello, Fm Records. Is there any possibility of getting a permission to use this music? It won't be used completely, or with lucrative ends. It's just my mom has this project to make a documentary for Socrates. I want to help her with the music. Thanks!
The Greek words during the song 'Praise of Ivic', is there any way of knowing what they are? The words are beautiful and I wouldn't mind knowing how to sing them.
"Eὐρύαλε, γλαυκεῶν Χαρίτων θάλος, καλλικόμων μελέδημα, σὲ μὲν Κύπρις ἅ τ'ἀγανοβλέφαρος Πειθώ ῥοδέοισιν ἐν ἄνθεσι θρέψαν." "Evriale ghlafkeon Hariton thalos, kallikomon meledhima, se men Kipris a t' aghanovlefaros Pitho rodheisin en anthesi threpsan." *Notes on pronunciation*: "e" as in better, "v" as in voice, "i" as in image, "a" as in hat, "gh" as a "w" or "wh" in woman/wonder/why/where, "f" as in find, "h" as in help, "th" as in thermal, "k" as in kayak, "dh" as in then/there/the, "ps" as in perhaps, "o" as in gone. *Translation*: Euryalus, thou scion of the delicious Graces, darling of the lovely-tressed [Muses], surely thou wast the nursling of Cypris and tender-eyed Persuasion amid flowers of the rose. If there's any issue, let me know and I'll gladly help you out!
+Dimitris M Papadakis Alright, but that's how the lady in the video is singing, she is using the modern/Byzantine/Koine Greek pronunciation. And that's what the OP asked for; "to be able to sing-along with the lady". Ancient Greek never had a universally standard pronunciation, it all depended on the place and time, so every pronunciation can work just fine, even the modern one.
Nice Music I like it so much! But I have one Question for you dear FM Records, I have a school project about ancient Greece and I wanted to ask your permission to use it so may I please?
Thanks, but I don't need them anymore. I was reading the birds in greek and i found them. (I'm an ancient greek scholar). If someone wants to know them: lines 737-751 in the parabasis. It's the chant of the chorus
Those wise days in which every reply to any RU-vid comment used to be: "-Most true -That's quite true -Certainly -I agree -That's surely the conclusion to be drawn from the argument -Of all things, the most disgraceful - (One "counter reply" later) That is still more disgraceful!" Or, just in case of a negative question: -"I suppose not -Mighty Zeus, certainly not!"
