this music shows you that even if ancient Greeks died thousands of years ago, they left all of us Greeks and non-Greeks an incredible treasure: their music and customs still alive today in Greece and beyond!!
Greek is still the language of science and math thanks to them. If you are Greek though it is important not to separate modern Greek people with the ancient Greeks. You are their decendants.
Unfortunately, there is no indication that this music has been taken from original sources. So it could be quite far from actual ancient greek music. Never trust anything unless it *at the very least* alludes to sources. That said, even if sources are given, it is very difficult to know for sure if we are interpreting greek notation correctly. So again, the music could very much not be authentic. Instead, it might be better to give kudos to the performers and modern composers of this instead of the country or the ancients.
@@g1u2y345 I think we should seperate the ancient pagan greeks with the none pagan religious greeks, they are technically not a ancient greek pagans they hate it, the destroy the ancitn hellenic culture.. they are constantines, christians.. But if you wanted to refer and say to our today modern era of greek culture we are preserving and protecting with our today mind and awarenes, yes we should preserve all the differencies to but not the religion, and the degeneration with mult etnic cultural part
By listening this music i am in heavens in the unknown close to my ancestors what an incredible feelings what a beautiful music.. I just love any moment of this in such a special day as today
~ Ruy Barbosa

Just a note; this is probably very similar to what they listened to (based on what we know), but these are all modern compositions. No Hellen ever listened to any one of these songs.
@antonis madarab Yes, we do have original songs, AND we have the ability to replicate them extremely closely. But of this video in particular, none of the songs are original Classics.
If in the name of Dionysus, is copulation a religious manifestation? Exalting the body, whilst humbling the spirit thro wine and song.... The flesh as offshoot as the great god's vine.

MY LYRE SING SONGS OF LOVE ( the meaning) To kithare I, too wish to sing of heroic deeds ( about the Atteides, and about Kadmus ), but the lyre's strings can only produce sounds of love. Presently, I changed the strings, and then the lyre itself, and tried to sing of the feats of Hercules, but still the lyre kept singing songs of love. So, fare well, you heroes! Because my lyre sings only songs of love.
@@yanmich Of course there is a lot of cultural exchange from Greece to the rest of the Balkans, but this is a Wallachian bagpipe that is not native to greece

hi, I was the god of Apollo in the past. with the birth of my son jesus christ I am the holy spirit. in the bible in the fifth trumpet the locusts write my spirits have a head king and in Greek the name apollyon apollonas. I write it for you to believe. here we are now the Holy Trinity.
and to read about God to learn more and to practice the commandments of God the Father, and the word of Christ. with what you wrote above you are ignorant of theology. god for the father of all man since he gives life to people people have the obligation to read and practice the word of god which is the law of god the word. and for those people who are not orthodox Christians, that is why the father wrote the symbol of the faith so that the orthodox Christian people have one end.

That makes perfect sense. Let's continue only one of the examples: Hippocratidas = Hapi Krahet = Spread you Wings Hippomendon = Hapi Mended = Think Wise Hippopotamus = Hapi Pot Amus = happy because you smoke pot Hippodrome = Hapi Dro mome = happy if you win with luck at the hippodrome Clearly it has nothing to do with the word "hippos" which means horse in Greek. Like Philippos, the father of Alexander, it's not Phil+hippos "friend/lover of horses", it's "Phil Hapi", that is, "don't worry, feel happy"
@@ataxias7 hahahahahah you don’t name a human a horse this is the biggest insult you can give to human .. hippomendon was a Spartan princess you don’t call a women horse either 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ happi means open spread widen .. the hippo 🦛 can open his mouth really wide or stretch it has nothing to do with horse ether .. don’t be stupid .. so how many babies are called horse in Greece ?
@@dalina25 All newborn horses - not sure how many those are. Also, some stupid humans. So you might not want to go to Greece, if you consider it an insult. Also, notice how these names are not just "horse", but horse + something? Like, "κράτος" (k/cratos) means power, so Hippocratidas means powerful like a horse? Hippopotamus means "river horse", as it does in many other languages (e.g. German). Hippomedon (no "n") was NOT a princess at all, it's a guy's name: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippomedon Notice that I've used Wikipedia there? Please keep using it to look up all other words you've written, then keep using it some more until you get more knowledgeable than a horse.
@@ataxias7 well hippopotamus means river horse in English .. English come from the germanic language and germanic is the language of Christianity.. Latin became the orthodox language and Greek the Orthodox language.. Byzantine Greece was not just greek from Greece but all races of turkey that became orthodox too .. all bring they own languages from around the word to form one .. the language of the orthodoxe .. we are in the Balkan Italy since antiquity too .. not a ufo bring us but Albanian all over Balkan Italy Greece still speak the same language not Greek .. Marco bocari had to create a lexicon for Albanians and Greeks to be understood, under one language when Albanian was spoken since antiquity? Even language tree Albanian is older then Greek .. Greek can go far back but we go further back then Latin and Greek .. hippo was never horse otherwise greece would still use that word or similar but you use alogo .. what happened?
@@dalina25 In case you really want to know, let me take the time to explain "what happened" (you also can simply look the word up in any dictionary, though): ίππος ("hippos") is the main word for horse, and is used any time you form a composite or derivative word. For example, "ιππασία" ("hippasia") is horse riding, "ιππικόν" ("hippikon") is cavalry, "ιππείς" ("hippeis") are horse riders, "ιππότης" ("hippotis") is knight, "ιπποκόμος" ("hippokomos") is a squire/stable man, "ιππο+πόταμος" ("hippopotamos"), which means horse+river = hippopotamus, "ιππό+δρομος" ("hippodromos"), which means horse+track = hippodrome etc. Now the word "άλογο(ν)" ("alogo") you are referring to, from α+λόγος, means "without intelligence". It is actually an adjective, used to refer to beasts of burden etc, but through the ages, and as often happens in Greek, but also other languages, the adjective was used by itself and has come to mean the animal itself. Other such examples are, for example, water: "ύδωρ", "hydor", stem: hydro-). It's always used to make derivative and composite words (hydrophobic, hydrogen, hydraulic etc), but the common word used for water is actually "νερό" ("nero"), which comes from "νεαρό", which means "fresh". This is because people used to refer to "fresh water", and at some point just "fresh" started meaning water ("pour me some fresh"). However, rarely can you use the word "nero" to make a derivative or composite word, just like the word "alogo".
