As an old 80's metal head, I've been in love with these ladies old school sound since I first stumbled across them a few years ago. For something more thrashy try Break the Wall or Set the World on Fire.

Fami, the new bassist was twenty when she joined Lovebites last year, the same age at which Midori (blond guitarist) started to learn to play the guitar and only two years older than when Miyako (black haired guitarist) started to learn to play the guitar. BTW Miyako is also a classical concert pianist. Lovebites are best experienced live, check out "Set the World on Fire:, "Break the Wall and "Swan Song" with the piano intro for starters.

Aussie Wolfpack reporting in, we love watching first reactions to our favourite ladies! Appreciate that you did some research as well. Enjoy the ride, their live performances are fantastic, and you won't find a bad track in their discography. The band is a talent factory, especially the amazing Miyako, musical prodigy of our times. A virtuoso guitarist and pianist, and composer, she is unique. Not to take anything away from her lead partner, Midori (the blonde lady with the muscles), together they are a formidable duelling guitar combination. Have fun, prepare to be inundated! (Subscribed)

Welcome to the Wolfpack! (the name for the Lovebites fans :D) - Glad to see you fully enjoying the best metal band on the planet. It's great to see more people discovering our ladies! I encourage you to check out some of their live performances too - in my decades of metal fandom, I've never heard cleaner sound out of a band live. Also, they while they usually wear the white gowns that are their usual "Battle Uniforms", one of their newest songs "Stand and Deliver" is one of the few MVs they have done in casual clothes. Some data on the band: The lead singer (Asami) is the group goofball, and is known as "The One and Only Voice" - and metal is a new genre for her vocally. She does a lot of writing, also. Haruna is the drummer - called "The Little Engine" - because she just crushes the drum parts and rhythm section on every song, and she is completely indefatiguable! Miyako is our dark haired guitarist who also does all the background synth and piano work. In addition, she also writes and does everything with that calm, cool professionalism. :) She is called "The Golden Touch" for a reason - everything she touches turns gold. Midori is the blonde guitarist with the amazing hair, and she is called "The Crazy Shredder" - because, well, it is what it says. She's insanely good and aggressive shredder. She also performs in bodybuilding competitions, and yes, she could kick all of our asses. :) On bass you have the amazingly talented Fami - who doesn't have a nickname yet - but she really has injected even more energy and passion into the group. Sheis the youngest of the group, and has amassed an amazing RU-vid following as a solo artist before auditioning for Lovebites and being accepted wholeheartedly by the band and the fans. Fun fact: Fami is the tallest member of the band, at 5'2" tall. :) Recommended further listening: Music Videos: Stand and Deliver (Shoot 'em Down) - latest video, and definitely more thrash. Live Videos: Swan Song (with Chopin Intro) - shows a lot of range - including classical influences, which includes Miyako playing a Chopin piece on piano. Spellbound - for that 80's euro-metal vibe. Frozen Serenade - more amazing range, and a killer live video We the United - for just a great all around show-ender.

The comment I appreciated most here was when you said you want to see them live, and you know that bands that play technical metal don't run around a lot and you're ok with that. Quite a few American reactor's complain about the fact they're not running around all the time in their live videos, but if they were, you'd end up with a load of missed notes and it would sound awful. Their live shows are great (there are some songs where they move around a bit for people who *must* see that), and as people have said, their performance of Holy War from 2020 is a popular starting point. But you're gonna love everything!
@TheAncientMetaler-1963
@TheAncientMetaler-1963 Год назад
Yeah, I've heard that same complaint leveled against Hide and my response is "Yeah, but did you see what he is playing??" It's about the music, not the dancing. Too much of today's music is about show, not substance.

Thank you for reacting to LOVEBITES. LOVEBITES has about 60 songs. Please keep up the good work LOVEBITES. LOVEBITES was formed in 2016 by Miho(Ba) and Haruna(Dr), members of the band "DESTROSE", which went on hiatus in 2015. The girls made their major label debut in 2017 (March 24) with "THE LOVEBITES EP". On 18 June 2018, LOVEBITES won 'BEST NEW BAND' at the Metal Hummer Golden Gods 2018 awards organised by the British metal magazine METAL HUMMER. On 4 August, LOVEBITES performed on the W.E.T stage at WACKEN OPEN AIR 2018, one of the world's largest annual metal festivals in Germany, with the 10,000 capacity venue almost full. "Bloodstack open air 2018(Aug. 10)" also participated. On August 20,2018, LOVEBITES announced that it has partnered with X-ray Touring, one of the largest players in the UK booking agent industry. LOVEBITES toured the Netherlands, Germany, France and UK from November 13-21, 2018. Asami (Vo) of LOVEBITES appeared as a guest on stage at Halestorm "Download Japan 2019(March 21)", singing alongside "Lzzy" Hale on Halestorm's 'Love Bites', which gave the band their name. I participated in "dowload Festival 2019(June 15)". And Asami of LOVEBITES appeared as a guest on stage at Halestorm Download Festival UK 2019, singing alongside "Lzzy" Hale on Halestorm's "Love Bites" again after Japan. LOVEBITES join DragonForce on UK tour 2019(Nov. 2-14). On 2 December 2019, LOVEBITES was the support act for the Tokyo leg of Halestorm's Japan tour. P.S. To be continued, fill in next time. Asami(Vo) Miyako(G - Key ‐ Piano Black hair) Midori(G) Haruna(Dr) Miho(Ba) First Bassist New bassist from 'JUDGEMENT DAY' songs. Bassist of this song Fami(Ba) New Bassist

Miho founder/bassist was a awesome musician who never gave herself enough credit for her skill level. This band is her vision of what modern Japanese metal should be, sing in English, have more classic metal influences, and defy any genre label. She selected Midori and Miyako a/k/a M&M show and Asami. This band has her heart and soul. Fami the 20 y o. wiz had 6 times as many subs as the band when she was hired ( LB just got over the 100K sub mark which is shocking and criminal). Fami was picked by these women and while I had my doubts, never ever second guess this band. This album is their new beginning although all of it was done by the time Fami joined. Petite women who wear their femininity proudly while playing in heels and dresses and smoke any other band out there LIVE. 60 + songs but no Live footage with Fami yet. Best thing to happen to Metal in decades and they were the 1st all female Japanese metal band to play at Wacken Open Air. They are the vanguard of the most skilled metal bands in Japan.

Yes, you know the irony is that I literally only met one person in Japan who knew who Loudness was. More people knew them by their prior name, Fastbender. I would say "Hey, you ever heard of Loudness?" and the answer was always "Shiranai." Another related band was EZO, which kind of merged with Loudness. Again, bigger in the US than in Japan. But, the one band everybody knew and which was a household word was X.

Very shrewd reaction. You know your stuff and you recognise talent when you see and hear it. Your observations are spot on, in that they don’t need to indulge in theatrics to impress their audience, though their live shows have included Chopin’s Revolutionary ‘Etude played to perfection on a baby grand piano (dark haired guitarist Miyako’s 30 years at the keyboard being put to work) and a touch of ballet from former ballerina turned RnB lounge singer turned metal goddess Asami. I’m obviously not going to be the first to tell you that Haruna is the drummer…all 4’9” of her. And yes, a live performance is indistinguishable from a studio album. I’m 63 and I have never in all my life heard 5 musicians of equal skill and effortless virtuosity. Yet they are the nicest, most fan friendly and fun loving people you could ever wish to meet. I’d given up on metal long before I discovered Lovebites in late 2020. Now I listen to them, and them alone, daily, enjoying harder, thrashier tracks than I’d ever have listened to before because these ladies produce vicious hooks and glorious melodies that are intoxicating and addictive. They have no peers…metal royalty.

These wolves do not growl or move around senselessly. But their bite transforms everyone into a "wolf pack. In Japan, the world's second largest music market, band activities are thriving, and it is said that there are over 100 female bands alone. To stand out among them, a band needs to have its own personality. Therefore, they chose a feminine stage costume with white as the base color. This choice ran the risk of not being accepted by their surroundings and becoming isolated. However, the girls dared to choose to "do what we want to do, even if it means becoming lone wolves. Since then, the wolf has become their symbol.

Welcome to Lovebites! The thing that impresses me about this song every time is Fami's basslines. Miho was a great bassist but Fami is kind of a freak of nature; just an incredibly talented young lady. Many fans already knew of her before she joined, so we knew she be a good fit. Haruna is not the singer, she's the drummer. Asami is the singer. As far as the complaints you've read about Japanese guitarists not moving and jumping around a lot, I've actually never been a huge fan of bands that DO jump around a lot. I've always found that the amount of moving and jumping around is inversely proportional to the amount of skill and talent involved, or at least the complexity involved in what they are playing while jumping around. When bands are jumping around like jack rabbits, it may be cool to look at, but there's a whole lot of three-chord nothing going on with the music.

Thanks for letting me know. Yeah, I feel the same way. If the band has a front person, I'm ok with that person having on stage antics. As i have said, I grew up a KISS fan, and would often emulate the poses Ace would make on stage, but he was not one to run around. I think he may have been too drunk to run, but hey. Been there.

Japanese guitar players (especially from the metal bands with a lot of shredding & solo) actually are influenced by Yngwie Malmsteen. Hence a lot of neo-classical elements in their solo. Of course, they were inspired by past big bands from Japan too e.g. Loudness, X Japan (a lot of shredders there too) Syu of Galneryus Shiren & Jinya of Unlucky Morpheus As I was typing this, you mentioned Hide & Hizaki. Yes, you do know some of the stuff too.

When I speak of Lovebites, they transcend the words female and Japanese. Neither of those labels are relevant to the talent across the board. They are simply a band that plays heavy metal at an elite/virtuoso level. Compare them to Maiden, Priest, DragonForce, Slayer, whomever. They measure up to every single one of the greats of the 70's and 80's (their main influential time period). Close your eyes, forget they are female or Japanese. For me personally, Lovebites are my all-time favorite band with 50+ years of metal listening behind me. Miyako (black hair) and Midori (tan/blonde hair) are the best dual guitar leads I have ever heard...again, just my opinion.

Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. Some background (forgive any overlap with info you already have): They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing. In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Their first song with Fami is “Judgement Day” ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m3uGjp-P7DI.html The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Here are more clips you should check out: “Set the World on Fire” ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-99zsH6iG_6c.html from their 2021 concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”. “Don’t Bite the Dust” ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oHnKGEj1CMc.html, from the same concert; "Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sl0-U-ykJCU.html They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope. Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lXh_uMM94jU.html; Perhaps their greatest masterpiece, a showcase of multi-instrumental virtuosity and even classical dance “A Frozen Serenade” ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ae8pQVu-RN8.html; And their most reacted-to video, “Holy War”: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bgAxpEpEcno.html Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WBhtqgiXEA4.html. For a thrasher with heavy Slayer and Metallica vibes, “Break the Wall” ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5Pc0XK0lNmU.html includes two gorgeous and completely contrasting solos by M&M. For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1ynnXDfEnnY.html (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both) While you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are four of the most spectacular: "Shadowmaker" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Brmoln5Gxus.html This is the song that blew up and melted faces all over the world "When Destinies Align" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hLFelI93VkM.html "Glory to the World" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--wJtD2XEXH4.html "Winds of Transylvania" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HsE4Ub_Pjh8.html. Finally, the audio tracks of some of the new album are up on youtube, and worth checking out. The band clearly came out swinging and wanted to make a statement. Every song on the album is a showcase of their incredible talent and songwriting capabilities. “Stand and Deliver” is a thrasher with a fun video of them in the studio. “Soldier Stands Solitarily”, the final song on the album, is being touted by some as the best thing they’ve done so far-I encourage you to see and decide for yourself! You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their official clips. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!

Fami was accepted very quickly. She was a bit of a left-field choice for the fans because she wasn't a metal musician and most didn't know her, but once she joined and we see what she could do, and after some hasty research scramble we found that she had her own first EP out (with Latin/funk-influenced pop) and her own RU-vid channel with six times the subscribers of Lovebites, so her talent was on full display. (Her father is a metalhead.) I've seen way fewer "Come back Miho!" comments of late anyway. Fami's personality also helps, I think, she is confident and quite charming in a bubbly, extroverted way.

congrats for your first contact with lovebites. excellent reaction. now you´ve got a lot to explore. they have got a backcatalogue of around 60 songs and are unable to write bad, stale or mediocre songs. soon you will receive a lot of recommendations of fellow wolfpack members. they can be overwhelming, but are very friendly and helpful in general. live these ladies are phenomenal too., as you guessed. precision, relentlessness, tons of energy and charisma. not to forget their positive vibes and lyrics. dark haired guitarist mayako, who is also a classical pianoplayer on pro level and their main songwriter was sometimes critisized for her "passive" and "stoic" behaviour onstage. glad for your words on that subject, because that is just superfocused while playing. and since you mentioned X japan: japanese all female band nemophila has made an excellent cover of "Kurenai" ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Bd3Ss30FZjg.html ). and nemophilas drummer tamu murata (besides miyako my favourite japanese musician) did even more covers of "X", "Rusty Nail", "Kurenai" and "silent jealousy" ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zdgPHbG4Vco.html ) with some super skilled friends on the channel of "daisuke kurosawa" and her own. and with sa-toshi they´ve got an excellent singer. so good. don´t miss.

This album, Judgement Day, is imho their absolute greatest album, and it has their new bassist who was my favorite bassist before I ever knew what LoveBites was. Miho was awesome, but a more different personality I can't imagine in Fami... who's a showy, legendary funk bass monster, their new bassist, She was only 20 when she joined the band, while most of the members are well into their 30s. For what it's worth, besides LoveBites and The Warning, the other band that makes my top three is Nemophila... another 5 member japanese band... but a VERY different genre from either LoveBites or The Warning. They are ABSOLUTELY worth some reactions.. and they are much more diverse than LoveBites.... so it depends what you are looking for. Nemophila is really kind of a supergroup that formed to support the singer for an EP recording, but loved what they were doing so much that they never broke up.... and instead even their members who were EXTREMELY busy in other bands or, in the case of their drummer, extremely busy as a top tier session musician who was starting a family on the side LoL, they decided to make Nemophila a career move. And we are all grateful to them for it. It's a very new band.. only a couple years old I guess, more or less.. and exploding on the world right now. Their earliest official music videos are an awesome intro to the band's unique style

I absolutely love Nemophila, but I would not say that they are "much more" diverse than Lovebites. They are just diverse in different directions. Nemophila plays metalcore, thrash, traditional NWOBHM-style metal, pop metal, hair metal and hard rock. Lovebites plays power metal, symphonic/neoclassical metal, thrash metal, traditional NWOBHM-style metal, progressive metal, and hard rock. They are roughly equal in diversity, but just in different sets of genres.

That's a moot point.🤔 How many people, so many opinions.🤗 1.5 -2 years ago I could listen to NEMOPHILA at least every day. The same with BAND-MAID. Today, the respect for these bands remains, but the desire to listen has greatly diminished. There is no feeling of saturation with music, as from LOVEBITES. In my opinion, LOVEBITES is much more interesting and diverse in all respects. But these are only my personal impressions, which have developed after several years of listening to the music of these three bands. P.S. NEMOPHILA has existed for about 4 years (since 2019). More than half of the catalog - covers of songs by famous bands. I don't remember exactly, I think they have 32 or 34 covers. This is about the fact that you called it a "supergroup". Nothing personal, just information.

@Серый Лис Lovebites has set the bar so high, I find it difficult to listen to any other Japanese female bands. As far as Nemo goes, you don't become an "Elite" band when half or more of your songs are covers, especially the random ones that they do. IMHO

@GrayFox14 Год назад
@@guitarzen5999 I think so too. I respect other bands. Regardless of whether I like music of these bands or not. But for the sake of objectivity, I would really like someone who knows to give a clear definition of what a "Supergroup" is?🤫 By what OBJECTIVE parameters and signs, the band is considered "Supergroup"? What is it expressed in? How can you measure, define, etc.? By composition of participants? Album chart positions? According to the capacity (how many spectators) of the concert venues where the band performs? By the number of concerts? I'm not kidding now. Honestly. I sincerely want to understand what is "Supergroup" in people's understanding. When I read that some band is a "Supergroup" I have a lot of questions.🤔
