Ok total transparency, I KNOW Jinjer has a female who does harsh vocals. I've seen pictures and heard people talk about the band, but have never heard their music or watched them. So, I don't really know much other than she can growl with the best.
Let's just say, I'm stunned. Awesome.

Jinjer is from Ukraine and every member is an exceptional musician. They are Roman on guitar, Vlad on drums, Eugene on bass, and Tatiana on vocals. Their journey has been an amazing story.

This is the gateway song for Jinjer. She has an incredible voice with the ability to switch readily between clean and harsh vocals and you can understand her vocals throughout, which amazes me. They are all superior musicians as well.

The musicianship of the band is off the charts. All them just kill it. But the vocals are next level.

Pre-neck tattoo Tatiana, always beautiful with or without. Thing is as beautiful and talented as she is this whole band is next level. You can find other bands that are more technical, more extreme or have great stage presence. But no band hits the sweet spot for me like Jinjer. They check ALL the boxes musicianship, song structure, vocals, deep lyrics, stage presence they just are the perfect band for me. Add to that the ultimate underdog story and how they have grinder their way up and that they are just incredibly humble and genuinely nice people. As an old metal fan I never thought a band would replace Maiden who had been my #1 band since 1983. I am going on year 6 with Jinjer and they took over #1 for me about 4 years ago. My obsession with this band has not slowed one bit.

Welcome to Jinjer. Tatiana is a vocal goddess and the band is amazing. They shine in their live performances. I recommend "Perennial" live at Wacken for a follow up reaction. Good analysis. (Subbed)

Hell yes, Jinjer! I love this band! Next you need to check them live, they are next level good. I was lucky enough to see them in Atlanta in December, what a show! The next recommendation is usually "Perennial" live at Wacken, which is great. To really see what she can do vocally I'd recommend "Pit of Consciousness" live in Kiev. They don't have a bad song so Enjoy!

That was a very astute, insightful reaction. I'm very much a metalhead, but I'm pretty selective precisely because to me, so many metal bands fall into self-parody. I never thought about that in relation to this song or this band because they so clearly are not ridiculous, and I think you're right that a song like this needs to be handled with great skill and finesse to avoid that pitfall. Jinjer is masterful in this domain.

Even though you knew harsh vocals were coming, she still "got" you! Always does! hehe

The floor tap the guitarist (Roman) does is hitting a switch on something called a Line 6 Helix. It changes the channel on the amp from clean to distorted and changes the effects patches at the same time. The bassist (Eugene) has one as well.

My introduction to Jinjer was the music video for their song Teacher, Teacher! which I saw almost 4 years ago. It is still my favorite Jinjer song. I wasn't surprised by Tatiana's harsh vocals because I have been a fan of Arch Enemy since the Angela Gossow days. I am also a big fan of Fernanda Lira formerly with Nervosa and now with Crypta. To me, the top three best female harsh vocalists today are Tatiana Shmayluk, Alissa White-Gluz and Fernanda Lira. Jinjer will be in Dallas as part of their tour with Disturbed and Breaking Benjamin. The show is at the Dos Equis Pavilion on July 25. I was going to buy a ticket to that show even knowing their set, as the third act, was probably going to be a short one. Then they announced they were going to do some solo shows between stops. One of those dates is in Lubbock on July 24 (they are in Albuquerque on July 23 with Disturbed and BB). I now have my ticket for the Lubbock show. The venue is outdoors and small so should be a lot of fun. Here is a link to the Teacher, Teacher! video - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oRkRwL0vjOg.html

Jinjer has a substantial catalogue of excellent songs, and none are bad. Since you clearly don't need metal training wheels, I recommend "Home Back", "Pit of Consciousness" and "Vortex" official music videos. Jinjer is incredible live, and double feature reactions are my favourite! I recommend pairing the OMVs I listed with the Hellfest 2021 performances of "Home Back" and "Vortex" and the Live in Kiev performance of "Pit of Consciousness" Cheers!

@j.f.fisher5318 Год назад
Omg yes. Those 3 all have great official videos but they are so good on stage it's a dilemma. Perennial is one that's a bit lighter (I assume what was meant by metal training wheels not being needed) but bot the omv and live at Wacken performances are great.
@hemlock399
@hemlock399 Год назад
@j.f.fisher5318 That's exactly what I meant, but I suppose the reactor would find that remark perplexing. Jinjer fans are such an in-group, we all know the path for metal neophytes. This gentleman doesn't need to follow that path, though Perrenial is a great song regardless.

Some people describe Jinjer's (actual) music as Jazz Metal. I think it's not universal but good definition. Older Jinjer's music was more metalcorish I'd say. And yeah, most of their songs are much heavier then Pisces. It's a very heavy band. But from the other side when they want it they play pure jazz, raggae, bossa nova or something like that. In most cases it's a part of the song here and there (like in Pisces). But hey have a few 100% non metal tracks.

Pisces is often requested precisely for the shock value, but it is also an incredible work of art, it has that Yin Yang, two sides symbolizes Pisces feel about it. I was never a fan of harsh vocals or growling, but when I heard this first time (on a reaction channel mind you) It gave a whole new appreciation for the skill and talent required to perform such things. I'm still not a great fan of harsh vocals from every heavy metal group but Jinjer and Tatiana especially have certainly gotten my attention. The other song usually request after this on is "Perennial" live at Waaken which is yet another great song and performance and you get it live. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bxi3i9wzQBk.html.

I had the pleasure to watch them live this year as support of Bullet for my Valentine. They should have been the headliner. Bullet was good, but live Jinjer are killing it. This video is quite very good, but live... In your face. Wonderful Atmosphere. Thanks for your reaction and if you can make it, watch them live. You won't regret it.

I would recommend a live in concert video as your next stop, either Perennial (live at Wacken 2019) or Pit of Consciousness (live in Kiev ) as great choices. Awesome Reaction, keep the Jinjer coming!

I hoped that you would get to Jinjer as they are one of my favourite bands. The band has a love/hate relationship with Pisces. It’s their most well known song (mainly because of viral reactions) but it’s not representative of their work which is a djenty, progressive grove metal with elements of metal core. Sometimes extreme, sometimes melodic but always surprising. They are very technical but mostly accessible. I’m always finding new things in their songs, even after many listens.
@TheAncientMetaler-1963
@TheAncientMetaler-1963 Год назад
Yeah, I can see that. That's the thing with some technical metal bands is that the music is erudite, effete and inaccessible to many people.

I'm not into the a lot of prog bands for that reason but Jinjer does a great job of riding the line so my brain gets something complex enough to chew on but I can still just enjoy it. They feel kinda like a harder Rush with an incredibly charismatic vocal goddess up front. Incidentally the guys compose the music then hand off demo recordings to Tati who finds inspiration for titles and lyrics, and weaves her vocal performance into the music. They've said that Pisces was one of their hardest songs to vompose for probably the reasons you mention. It could so easily have gone off the rails. Also it's very personal to Tatiana and she would have preferred the band become famous for a song that's more about big ideas than one that's about her heh. Probably something like Who Is Gonna Be The One which is the only song from their relatively early days (2014, when they still had a rhythm guitarist) that they've re-composed to work with the 3-piece band lineup and still play. I hope they aren't thuroughly sick of it by now. I wouldn't say it's their best but it's my favorite (especially in the modern version represented by the official live video and live Atlas version which is the audio of that recording).
