"Feel free to pause the video and see if you can find mate in 8." Lol nope, first time not pausing. I'm just going to have to enjoy the show on this one 😂
You can find games from TCEC here tcec.chessdom.com/archive.php (season 12, Div 4) LCZero 0.7 ID125 is a bit outdated tho... (ID 240 atm) For more info about Leela www.reddit.com/r/chess/comments/882jr8/leela_chess_zero_the_fork_of_leela_zero_for_chess/ Including some link with measured ELO at each ID: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18UWR4FVhPi0vNwwPreu_avd9ycujGQ5ayR2LzJOWP4s/edit#gid=1045682900 There ya go :)
EDIT: The standings can be found in the lowest part of the following link, where is says "Crosstable for TCEC Season 12 - Division 4" . They appear only if you click first on Season 12 [on the top of the page] tcec.chessdom.com/archive.php?se=12&di=4&ga=109 I just checked Leela's results in Division 4 in TCEC : 1 win, 2 draws and 25 losses!
Hi Agadmator, great video! Just one comment... Stockfish doesn't resign games (engines can't resign). TCEC just automatically ends the game when both engines agree that the game is completely lost (over +6.50 evaluation).
For those of you who hate the title, blame RU-vid. RU-vid creates clickbait, it rewards clickbait 10x over. RU-vidrs who don't clickbait take a huge hit to their pay. It's RU-vid.
Don't blame RU-vid, blame humans. Sensationalism has been around since antiquity and that's likely because it's very effective even when it's merely print media or visual art like cartoons. All the fury and reason in the world can't change that so all we can do is ask if it's actually true and fairly disclosed when our initial impression deviates from reality. With that in mind I think this is an excusable case of clickbait because he doesn't allow you think she beat Stockfish 9 by addressing it immediately and it is in fact true that Leela beat Stockfish in this game. This seems a relatively benign case of the necessary evil that is self-promotion.
@Abe Buckingham: "Don't blame RU-vid, blame humans" RU-vid has still its part of responsability. We SHOULD blame RU-vid for this, like we SHOULD blame companies for everything bad they do, even if they just follows what their consumers want. (If you blame consumers, you have such a dilution of responsability that nobody is responsible and nothing is done to improve the situation). But, I agree on all the other points you make. Clickbait on quality content don't bother me.
This isn't the Stockfish that wins the TCEC and which you otherwise read about and hear about in the chess news. It's around 600 points weaker. To the other person, who gave some dumb-ass argument about there always being sensationalism, in the normal world you can call out lies and do real damage to someone's reputation. RU-vid silences the call-out by limiting it to "report misleading title" which goes nowhere. RU-vidrs can even block comments and ratings. So this isn't everyday sensationalism, it puts all the cards in the clickbaiters hands.
A very interesting game that is definitely worth seeing and analysing, although for an engine Stockfish 1 is not the strongest choice, but that whole approach of something like "crowd learning" makes it a remarkable achievement for Leela Zero what level it has already reached. Against Stockfish 9 it's of course a whole different story, but Leela Zero will be further improving it's strength.
Just a note: the Leela Chess Zero in these bonus games is quite a few ID’s past the one that played in Season 12 div 4. In other words, it’s a bit stronger and using a larger, “smarter” network. I believe the latest has since surpassed stockfish 2 and is knocking on the door of stockfish 3. Last, I enjoy playing against Leela and watching her play against other engines. Her play makes “sense.” Playing against stockfish is like having an axe murderer spellcheck your emails.
Actually Leela played like karpov gained more space locked down the position and using all the time he wants using the space advantage and squeezing out the opponent with a superior position. It's karpov style
Hi Agadmator! I really enjoy the way you analyze the moves. My father likes chess also, but he doesn’t speak english. Please, can you upload “spanish captions”. I’m sure he’ll enjoy your videos much as me. Thank you very much for your videos. Greetings for Honduras!
Still waiting on a version of alpha zero that can beat the TOP version of stockfish using EQUAL (or less) computing power. These neural networks are headfakes until that happens.
Leela only has 11 million self play games right now vs at least 44 million games for Alpha Zero (and Leela had some bugs in the early games so she'll probably need more of them to achieve the same strength). So no, she's nowhere near as strong as Stockfish 9 right now. She's roughly on par with Stockfish 3 right now (technically slightly below still but she's overtaking Stockfish 3 fast and will probably be above Stockfish 3 soon) Here's a couple of spreadsheets that might be of interest: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zcXqNzLNBT8RjTHO_AppL6WN0j8TGmOIh6osLPmaB6E/edit#gid=0 docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18UWR4FVhPi0vNwwPreu_avd9ycujGQ5ayR2LzJOWP4s/edit#gid=0
Alpha Zero has possibly computed more than a billion matches and learned from each and every single one of them. Drawing against alpha zero should be commendable to how strong an engine is, winning on the other hand is currently impossible. No engine or AI or person can win a match against Alpha Zero
+クレイグ 44 million, not more then a billion. Also, remember that Alpha Zero playing chess wasn't about chess at all for google but about testing the flexibility of the AI. I doubt that Alpha Zero is playing a single game of chess anymore now. And since google probably have stopped training Alpha Zero in chess I'm fairly sure that Leela Chess Zero will beat Alpha Zero once she has had enough self play training games done.
Leela's 7.b3 seems a bit unusual; in a 1978 game Petrosian played 7.Nge2 in that position. It seems Stockfish's first mistake was 9...Qc7; it would have been better to try 9...exd4. Further mistakes by Stockfish on moves 10, 12, and 15 pretty much sealed its fate. After 18...Qb8, I doubt Stockfish's position was salvageable.
Dear Agad, You can quickly find the latest tournament plays, results and standings on chessbomb.com Leela's division 4 is here: www.chessbomb.com/arena/2018-tcec-s12d4 She is at the bottom unfortunately :) But she will grow. We believe in her!
4 : 09 why can't the bishop pin the knight to the white bishop via G5, even if the knight moves to attack the rook, the white bishop will capture and white will capture back. it trades off blacks bad bishop for a white knight
can someone explain what resigning by stockfish means? i mean how does that look? it just stops making moves? stockfish never resigns not even on level one. it just plays until checkmate or stale mate by anyone.
also about the few AZ games where AZ played against SF where AZ had in that one game the choice to draw or continiu play... I dont think its that fascinating due to the following reason... ...i dont think that AZ learned the differents between a draw and a loss because its goal is to win to get a *reward* but when it draws it doesnt win... and when it loses it doesnt win aswell.. its basicly that you never learned that there is such a thing like "drawing". I think from AZ view both are different ways to lose so it will always keep playing to win to get the reward. And it just repeats certain position to not maybe draw (because thats losing) but because it either hopes the opponent makes a misstake and/or it knows a certain line is better and usually wants to play that line and thats why repeats the position because it wants to play the better line.
Leela Zero ranking etc: Go to tcec.chessdom.com/live.php, then click on Archive*. On the left you will see "Annotated Games". Open up Season 12, then division 4. This will show all the games. When you click on one of the games, it will show the final results in the bottom left panel. Leela ended up bottom with a couple of draws. They played a fairly old version of Leela, not the one that has been played lately on RU-vid. Thanks for your enjoyable videos.
LC0 got dead last place in division 4(8th). it had 1 Win, 25 losses and 2 draws. Completely outclassed. Even 7th place Baron was able to score at least a draw vs each opponent and managed to go 7W 12L 9D.
How much moves could human see the checkmate? Once time i saw checkmate in 4 moves, i think Carsen can see checkmate in 6 but dont know if any human can see check mate in 7 or 8
I think LCZero 0.7 ("Leela") came out roughly equal with Stockfish 2 in TCEC. So they're probably trying to find the level at which Leela is competitive.
AlphaZero's losses were forced by making human moves in the opening to reach certain positions or were played against itself. None of those games were released by google.
I wasn't able to track down anything official, but here is a blog post with 12TCEC-4 final standings: mytcecexperience.blogspot.com/2018/04/season-12-division-4-final-results.html?m=1
The didn't publish any more games than the 10 released so we'll just have to wait for Leela to get that strong. You can help by donating your CPU time to the project here. github.com/glinscott/leela-chess/wiki/Getting-Started
