I have to disagree. They're adults. If Miranda is in a monogamous marriage, but is flirting, giving the green light to someone else's advances as well, it's Miranda who has responsibility to make that clear. If she is behaving in favour and is in company of an open minded crowd, it's not unfair to assume she's wanting to be or is an active participant. It's not Che's job to intrinsically know the functionings and agreements of Mirandas marriage, it's not her business either. It's not unfair for Che to assume everything was safe and consensual when it's a personality like Miranda either. The shock makes sense.

@@paulg6527 maybe the way Miranda pursued Che, led Che to think Miranda was available and not with anyone. It didn’t seem like she was in an open marriage. Didn’t seem like she mentioned Steve.

One of the first gays I knew of was a man who abruptly left his wife and three children after ten years of marriage. We later learned he was screwing around while they were still married (this was in the early 1980s). Many years later I learned he went to this gay legal clinic and they told him at the present time not to come out of the closet or leave his wife because he might lose access to his children. It was not until later when the climate had changed when they told him he could safely leave his marriage. Even worse, he left a brain injured wife to raise three children, one of whom had developmental disabilities due to having been born premature, on welfare. I was left with a very bitter anti-gay sentiment as a result of this, and it took me years to get over it.

@@jrcasselman I'm glad you got over it, and thank you for being open-minded to change your prejudices. The sort of thing you described is very common in heterosexual marriages and relationships as well (much more so, actually), so remaining in that mindset would have been wrong and very misguided.

You have to understand this was the first time I had ever known a man to have abruptly left his family, and it was the first time I had seen a family fall into such abject poverty, but I think the man's brothers stepped in to help out. This whole thing was therefore completely foreign to the way I had been raised and caused me to equate homosexuality with family abandonment.

Easy, because in the first Sex and the City movie after Steve confessed to screwing a girl once and only once she flipped out and was done with the marriage while Steve was remorseful. Ms. I have a midlife crises and thinks I am too good for everyone Miranda now just bounces and says goodbye makes the ending of the first Sex and the City movie look pointless. What was the point of getting therapy and coming back after Steve spent a year making it right if Miranda can’t even talk or try to communicate with her husband even with his hearing loss to figure things out. Or heck why not they get a divorce and she can start her life with whomever she likes?

Thank you. She is the biggest hypocrite. That is why I can’t watch full episode’s of this show. Miranda yet always thought herself as all high and mighty and yet she is worse than what Steve did.

Che knew Miranda has a son and is married. If Miranda had lied and said it's an open marriage: okay. But Che simply did not care wether Miranda is married or not.

Che doesn't mind if her partners are married, in a relationship or single, but she does care if they're a cheater and using them to cheat and be dishonest in a relationship. Che cares about honesty and for want to be with someone who is dishonest to them and their partners. Ethical polyamory is about honesty and informed consent. I'm monogamous and have no interest in being poly or dating a poly person, but I find myself having to defend ethical polyamory, and by extension, Che on these AJLT threads bcos there's so many misconceptions here and misdirected blame/anger and alot of it I think is part of Che being a new character we didn't have years to love, grow with and understand. Also cos Steve is a sweetheart and didn't deserve to be blindsided like this. I don't necessarily like Che's character and personality, but I def have to respect their ethics, the demand for honesty, respect and their setting of boundaries. If Che didn't care this wouldn't be an issue in any way, shape or form. This convo wouldn't have happened. Che would've just said something like, "yikessss that was close" and taken the coffee and just changed the topic. Miranda presented herself to Che, an OPENLY ethical poly person, as a married woman who was on the market and looking and Che assumed bcos they're honest about their own relationship dynamics that Miranda was being honest as well. What you're saying is similar to saying that someone who finds out the person they're dating is in a whole other relationship and they should be held responsible for that other person's dishonesty. Was Che supposed to hunt down Steve and Brady and introduce themselves as Miranda's partner and question Steve? I've seen some comments like this blaming Che for not doing due dilligence and checking w Steve and asking about his marriage with Miranda. Che wouldn't EVER do that bcos that disrespects boundaries. (also it's kinda way too early in Che + Miranda's relationship I'm sure ) In an ethical poly relationship dynamic, it would be up to Miranda AND Steve if they were to be introduced to Che, and when. It would also be up to Che if they were comfortable with meeting their new partner's long-term spouse, and when. Some poly people prefer it that way and others don't. Miranda was dishonest through omission and Miranda KNOWS that. It was purposeful. Che realises that and that rightfully angers them. Miranda said she is married and has a son, alot of people in open marriages do. She knew Che was poly and non-monogamous and she (much like many ppl tbh) took that as Che being down to cheat and sneak around. She was wrong. Like listen to her response even when Che confronts her "he(Steve) doesnt know about me??" She tries to justify it instead of saying something along the lines of "...I thought you were okay with that??" While that would be messed up, it would show that Miranda GENUINELY doesn't understand what being poly is about. I'm sure that convo would've gone the same way but Che would've set her straight about their relationship expectations and what being poly actually is. Che even goes on to say says, "I'm NOT a cheater, I DON'T sneak around. I'm not a homewrecker". Miranda: *my home is already wrecked.* Che DOES care, it's Miranda who doesn't care (about her marriage, about honesty and about respecting Che's boundaries) and instead of just admitting that she was wrong and she's okay with just lying, cheating and sneaking around and disrespecting people she CLAIMS to love, she decided to double down and try to make Che not care and be okay with the selfish mess she knowingly dragged them into, thus challenging their ethical polyamory, their boundaries and their respect for relationships and themself. Miranda is disrespecting both Steve AND Che. BOTH Steve AND Che are the victims here bcos of Miranda's lies and selfishness. She's USING Che and Che is obvi disgusted by it. That's why Che walked away. And it's so telling that Miranda is surprised at Che's willingness to dump her after blatantly disrespecting her cos imo shes used to just stomping all over Steve and getting her way, never having to apolgize. She's used to ppl not arguing w her or just conceding and moving on. Even when Charlotte said, "it's AN AFFAIR! !" Miranda could've said "Che is fine with open relationships, they're Poly" and to that Charlotte or even Carrie (who knows Che) coudlve softly said, "but you're not/you and Steve aren't". She just got angry and stomped away. Carrie decided to stay out of it, but Charlotte held her accountable. She KNEW she was wrong and she didnt have a comeback. Che NEVER would have gotten involved with Miranda if they knew she was in a closed monogamous marriage, something she agreed to with her spouse. She likes Miranda A TON but Che refuses to do this bcos 1) it's disrespectful to Che 2) it goes against everything they stand for ie their ethics regarding transparency, honesty and respecting your partners 3) it's disrespectful to Steve and jeapordizes her family potentially hurting their teen son. And imo ppl need to stop treating Che like just cos they're poly they don't respect relationships and respect boundaries bcos Che doesn't even KNOW Steve and Brady and by walking away they are respecting them way more than Miranda has been for the last 3 weeks. I hope in the upcoming episodes they delve deeper into this bcos Che is NOT in the wrong here and I hope there isn't any confrontation between Steve and Che or any of Miranda's friends bcos Miranda is the one who misrepresented herself. Also in no way was Che saying Miranda should leave Steve and break up their marriage for them. Che said "sort your life out" and then Miranda makes the rash decision to leave her husband for various reasons, but also hoping this now meana she can be with Che. Then she calls Che and says "I told him". If Che does continue to be w Miranda in the future, judging from the preview it'll prob only be a physical thing cos that's what Miranda has relegated herself to cos she very blatantly showed Che that she isn't fit to be a good serious partner bcos she's fine w lying and hurting people she's supposed to care about. I loved Miranda in SATC bcos she had a good heart even though she was v flawed and I'm still rooting for her, but it's evident Miranda's values have changed v much and it saddens me bcos she's really self destructive now. I hope she gets better and finds herself at the end of this series. Sorry this is so long.
