As a 77 years old/retired/less-abled/bedridden/wheelchaired paraplegic/with PLS-ALS medical conditions, who can only communicate by AAC device, text or email only, I have subscribed, liked, and I am actively enjoying watching YOU and commenting from Quakertown, Pennsylvania, USA.
Jesse is great on that machine. The clamp looks like someone's hand, it is that precise. It is really nice of him to sort while he unloads. I have 20 cords of cut, split, and stacked hickory that I would like to sell. It is 3 years old and covered. I have 95 cords total. I am in SE Ohio and everyone has wood for sale. There are probably 100 firwood stands within 10 miles of my house
Congrats Jesse! I've been eligible to retire for 2 years now, and am considering it soon. I will miss seeing you on the channel and wish you all the best!
Jessie: Lieutenant Spock (Star Trek) had a picture in his quarters of the "expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden". When he was asked "what is the significance of this picture" he answered: it is a reminder that all things end! So, what does this mean to you! It is a reminder to you that your career is coming to an end! You cant stop it. It will happen. Handle it with grace, or even with planning ahead of time. Joe is still running at 100 MPH with his career, and now you are "slowing down" in anticipation of ending your career. Everyone handles this tramatic event differently. You were probably the best thing that happened to Joe's career. I will miss both you, and Joe (when he retires). Live long and prosper!
Jessie, I retired a year ago and it’s great to do whatever I want, so I wish you all the best and know you won’t regret it even though iI look forward to seeing you on the videos. I also enjoyed meeting you at the international firewood expo last May.
Congratulations to jesse on his retirement. I retired seven years ago missed it and the people I worked with for a while but best thing I did. Good luck in your future endeavors jesse job well done 👍👍👍
As someone whose been retired since last day of June 2020, Jesse, welcome to the ranks. It's truly great to no longer be tied to a daily schedule. I highly recommend it to everyone. It is really all it's cracked up to be. Hey Joe why don't you just buy the truck? You could go get logs anytime inventory is low. lol.
Nice to see LH Jesse again, hope his career transition goes well, and finds a buyer for his truck so it can happen soon. Elaine from Canada here, also glad his wasp-related injuries are healing up. Joe, hope you can acquire a whole yard full of logs to keep you sleeping through the night, steadily working and faithfully supplying your customers. Best wishes to you both. Cheers.
Just wanted to tell Jesse. Don't be a stranger stop in occasionally. I like the way you and Joe. Joking it around all the time. Have a great day. There's somebody on a RU-vid channel that says that at the end of his videos can't remember who it is.
My money maker in firewood is Douglas Fir. Next year, maybe oak since i have a lot of it. Hopefully, Jesse keeps popping in every so offton when he does retire. 😉👍
They say that when life gives you lemons,…you make lemonade, 😂. At least you’re getting quality logs. My first load of logs were just ok. Some were punky down the middle, while others were too much around the outside. There was enough good wood that I was able to get my business up and going. My log hauler was supposed to call so I could meet him to pick out the logs that I wanted for the second load. It never happened. Then I found another log hauler who delivered logs that appeared worse than the first load. Come to find out, both log haulers are from the same logging family. Needless to say,…I won’t be doing business with them anymore. They really put me in a bind, because I only sell value added firewood. It’s ok, because I’m now implementing Plan B.
G'day Joe, when you asked Jesse can you move this here put that there I thought he was going to answer his phone and walk away like everyone else does 👍.
Agree with you Joe. I like how easy white and red oak are to acquire around here but it takes so much longer to dry then almost everything else. Especially the red oak family. The white oak family dries a little faster. If I could only pick one species to get in it would be maple, it dries very quickly and can sell it much sooner. I haven’t even found a logger yet. So you are doing better then you think. Keep up the good work.
@@loghaulerjesse8228 Sounds good. I retired from 2 careers. Definitely an adjustment. Took me about a year to find a good rhythm. For purely selfish reasons, I hope to see you often on the channel.
Best time ever found to purchase log inventory is when available at a price margin you can live with as far as oak criss cross single stacks you will find it dries seasons in less than half the time you have mentioned
Wow- I didn’t see that coming. All the best to Jesse on at least the “semi-retirement”. Keep us posted on how things go. I know of a couple of restaurants that prefer oak & cherry but do many of them use maple? What other species do restaurants use?
As I explained to you when I met you at the Paul Bunyan show, after 37 years of looking through a windshield, I'm hanging up my driver's hat. Next week is my last week. I'm horrified and ecstatic all at the same time. You'll land on your feet I'm sure. Welcome to the next chapter in your life. Face it head on and kick it in the butt!
Hopefully we have a cold winter, so you get to sell a lot of firewood. Forecast for the east coast is supposed to be another warm winter by the Weather Channel.
Good luck to Jesse in the semi-retirement. As long as you plan well financially, you have the option of retiring. I call retirement when you stop doing any type of work and drink on the beach instead. Semi-retirement you do the type of work you've wanted to do for a long time to stay active.
With the oak, if you can find an oak hungry customer base, dump your oak logs on them. Now you have to find a different log hauler. Talk to the sawmills and see about sending their rejects your way. Jesse seems to be tired of driving and wants to do more yard work. Make sure you pay him good.
Joe Great Video as always, and Jesse Congratulations on hopefully your Retirement up coming. Those Log Trucks need to keep Running for Joe as he needs the Logs to process. I know what you mean Joe by Getting Logs, my Tree Service Guy will not have any for Me till next year around April or May. I was thinking about Bundle Wood but it may not Work out. Stay Safe out there Joe and ESPECIALLY Jesse, be careful out there NO BEE'S!!! RON FROM THE WOODYARD IN DUANESBURG NY.
I have decent cherry here if we could work it out to get you them. Next time in the hermitage area let me know. I can’t burn it all and not looking to split and sell. I have a guy that sells cords for 399$ but won’t even give me a dollar for a log. Actually just saw your trucker is in cortland 20 minutes from me. Im also getting some trees thinning in my woods. I will be reasonable. NO OAK !!! Maple cherry. How about ash ?
Im surprised you have a hard time getting logs in ohio. Im in central NY..and triaxle firewood loads are easy to get. I sell 200 full cords/ yr..and turn down logs.
Joe,when Jessie retires from hauling then what do you do for 🪵 may you enjoy your retirement Jessie when it happens 👍it’s been a great pleasure watching you in Joe’s wood yard 😮😊❤
JOE , I JUST GOT A NOTE FROM THE WIFE OF JESSIES FRIEND WHO WAS SO BADLY INJURED. HE IS PARALIZED FROM THE NECK DOWN. DO THEY NEED A GO FUND ME RALLY ?
