Even if you weren’t sharing on RU-vid with us, how cool is it to have done all the groundwork yourself, as well as using your equipment like the Grove crane to make it happen. and have a time lapse and video documenting the build process. Really appreciate you sharing this process with us 👍
After Matt’s first video about his house which I found very off putting, rude, and anti-social I have zero desire to see anything about the design, construction, or anything else his mansion. I fully understand everyone is entitled to watch or not watch anyone’s video(s) and I choose not to watch any videos on this channel about this house now and in the future.
as a builder, they did a pretty good job putting lots of different triangles in the roof, but they used nailer plates, so I would be in there putting cross members for a couple days.
@@agw5425 The guy sitting on the peak when they were putting the trusses in looked sketchy. Was he craned up there? Here in NZ, they absolutely be required to be wearing high vis, hard hats, and be tethered when at height. Our Work Safe guys would have had apoplexy watching this video.
Matt after watching you for more then a year now. There is no possible way you will sit on that deck and put your feet up. You just can't do that for more then a minute. You have too many other projects to keep you busy. Your wife will enjoy it more than you. God Bless your new home and all the happiness it will bring.
Oh so well spoken. I'm tearing up just knowing this man, who sometimes drives his Deuce over the camera in the intro, Deserves this Home!! GID BLESS HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS!! 😂
Oh man… I don’t think you realize how much downtime it takes to maintain Matt’s energy level! Guys like Matt work hard, play hard, and relax hard. More likely he’s gonna go out there after a 14 hour day to put his feet up and watch the sunset… and doze off in the zero-gravity chair on the deck. 😉
I had an Uncle, one of my Dad's brothers, that was a contractor building houses, mostly single level ones. He did that from just after WW2 until the late 80's, & he did it all, carpentry, masonry, plumbing & electrical. I was impressed that after seeing the blueprints, he could tell how many 2x4's, the board feet for drywall, plywood, OSB, & bricks that were needed. However, these guys have blown me away! To say it is impressive is an understatement. I'm very glad that you & your wife will soon be finally moving in & enjoying the fruit of your labor. You deserve it.
I have been a builder in Australia for the last 35 years. Not much impresses me, usually I watch different construction projects and just yawn. But these framers, WOW! Just wish I was there over the last three days to watch the coordination and construction methods. My hat off to the team. Great choice of contractors Matt.
There are positives and negatives to brick-by-brick building I guess. They certainly do it quite differently to here in Oz, don't they. Mind you, I am certainly envious of the energy efficiency levels/ratings they have in their homes compared to what we have. We've come a long way, but it's still nowhere near what they have. I guess the worst we get is "high energy costs" but with the weather they have they get it's more like "the weather might very well kill them".
I'm sure you're impressed with their workplace safety. Pretty easy to be fast when you can work under a crane without helmet, no railings, etc, etc, etc.
Stranger from Norway here, genuinely happy for you Matt!. This property you have been steadily improving for so long, with a clear vision from the start, and now it is really starting to come together. Dream shop, dream home, dream property, and dare I say dream job! Looking forward to following you into the future, and I am thankfull that you bring us along!
You might not realize but as an old builder having someone like you there with your equipment is a god sent and speeds things along so much so and saves the bodies of the workers big time
That was astonishing! Being a retired building inspector, I’ve inspected homes a 1000 square feet to 10,000 square feet, and I’ve never seen anything like this. The best builders in California would have taken at least 2 or 3 months to get to that point. I was impressed with the concrete contractor, but this crew is on a whole new level. Says a lot about the Amish. Simply couldn’t happen in most places in the country, you just don’t have that work ethic. When I was a kid, that’s the way it was. But no way, that efficient. Great video Matt! Been following you since the canopy other the shipping containers, you’ve come a long way.
they just did a few near me in TX like this. They spent probably a week with groundworks/streets/utilities, but after that, a wooden fence went up, and a whole neighborhood in 3 days. They even have lamps, and decorations in the show home! lol
@@jorgejiminez-rk1uu My neighborhood in Texas went up like that. 12 years later, there are nail pops in the walls and subfloor everywhere and none of the doors close quite right anymore.
@@DieselCreek So awesome to watch this going up. As much as we want to see the inside floor plan, i get why you arent going to show it with much , if any detail. Congrats man, you deserve this.
"Next level fast". I can also tell that everyone involved did a FAR better job than some of the multi million dollar homes I myself have seen in person recently. This is beautiful in just framework, its going to be epic when it is done and I am happy for you guys!
Those forklifts are called moffetts. I drove a tractor trailer delivery truck for Home Depot for a few months and those things are slick. Although the one I had didn’t have the wheels that could turn 90 degrees. It would’ve been some nice to have one of those with the long driveways with woods on both sides. It would’ve saved me from having to back all the way up to the job site. The longest I had to back was almost a half mile, but with one of those I could’ve stayed at the road and drove it up with the moffett.
@@rovhalgrencparselstedt8343 no, they’ve had moffetts that turn 90 degrees for quite a while. It was 20yrs ago when I drove for them and they had them then, it’s just the company I drove for was too cheap to buy one like that. Home Depot doesn’t do the deliveries anyway, they have an independent company they hire to do all their deliveries.
Matt, I can't tell you how happy I am for you and your wife! This house is going to be fabulous! I love the outside of it, and it hasn't even been finished yet. I love that you have been able to work on your house, and not just watch it be built. I didn't know that you designed this house! Now you can add a few more talents to your long list of accomplishments. Is there anything that you can't do? I think not. Building your Dream Shop and now your Dream House has been a long time coming, but soon you will be moving into the house. What will be your next dream? I can't wait to find out. Wishing you both many happy years in your new home. Always wish you the best. You're awesome!!!!
I'm glad to hear that you are adding tube heating in the basement floor, that should make the basement a much more comfortable space in the winter. The diversity on your channel is definitely a good thing. Love it all!!!
Matt we are so happy for you! Boy you have come a long way and deserve all the rewards of your hard work! What a beautiful yet modest floorplan. And boy did them boys work damn quick! God bless you and your new dwelling may it continue on its smooth path.
It is awesome to see you getting your dream house not long after your dream shop. Well deserved sir. Thank you for letting us see your house! I know it was a big decision for you.
Other than the trees lol... They started off green and according to him, a week later, at the most, the leaves were yellow and half fell from the tree. That is not how quick trees lose their leaves in the northern parts of North America lol
As an old bent and broken frame Carpenter it's good to see things haven't changed much. Time is money Don't know now but we used to get paid by the square foot. So you had to hustle make any money. These guys got it down. That's a big crew so they really got to hustle which they do. You definitely got your money's worth great video Matt as usual!
Hey Matt, my family was in the truss manufacturing business for 50 years and your architect absolutely nailed it on getting the best bang for the buck. And the framers were amazing to watch. In the Northwest market (Seattle area) we craned the trusses as a package to the wall line and crews spread them from there. With lots of guys to help and setting individual trusses it's fast work. Was fun to watch! Kudos, my man!
First of all, what we think of the house is of no consequence. The main thing is that you and Eva love it, I'm surprised that we havent seen Eva supervising the project, LOL. Your Camera and drone work is excellent. I am suprised hardhats are not required when flying materials. Excellent work Matt! Please keep the vids coming!!!
Like a hard hat is going to do anything. Did you not see the bit of fencing wire they were using to lift the trusses with the hired in crane? Even Dirt Perfect has a welded hook for lifting trusses although its still not an approved lift as not certified. You are 100% right on who matters when it comes to liking the house.
@AaronHollander314 Depends on the size of the project. On a house this size, not really. A crane costs, ball park, $2500-$4500 per day. Get it for things you only need for like large high trusses. If we can avoid them we will. In this video you can see them using the telehandler as a crane to finish up the trusses on the garage. We use the Tele with a boom whenever possible, it's so much cheaper. Renting them is like $3500 per week. Owning one is much cheaper if you do enough volume. The man hours required to put the walls up without the crane in this instance is half the cost of the crane but still probably in the thousands of dollars in man hours. But if you already have a crane on sight, like building an apartment complex where you have a crane scheduled for a large portion of the time, or customer who just happens to have a working crane and is willing to operate it, than heck yeah, use it if you got it.
Matt, now it is YOUR job: Fill this beautiful place with a bunch of little ones. You two deserve a great big family. Great job and be safe. GOD bless . Thank you
I love the home - it is unique -one of a kind - no other like it! I am flabbergasted by this home! May you in due time enjoy many years of bliss in this home!
Hi Matt, from Montreal Canada. Been watching you for many years. It sure is a long journey from your Old Church renovation project. Happy for you with this new house and new shop. You are hard working man and deserves it, enjoy ! And keep those entertaining videos coming.
It's so cool watching a crew who really work well together, no matter what they're building. These guys are total professionals. All the best, Matt - what an exciting time for you guys.
That jigsaw puzzle castle came together real nice and quick. Your collection of tonka toys, saved you a ton of time money and frustration. They all just paid for themselves right there. Those builders would have just loved having all the right tools to save them doing the hard yards.
Matt, I discovered you while you were doing the church reno thing before the covid and I enjoyed that series very much and decided to stick to your channel. I am so glad to see the dream workshop and the dream house projects come to fruition. I hope to build my own house in a few years and your journey is inspiring.
Very nice! And The videographer gets a big applause. Two things to needed for the house kids and the love of a family. God. Bless you and your family. Love to see good things happening.
Matt, thanks for taking us along with your house build. One of my favorite video's yet. I love the design. I love your property, garage , equipment, and home. I wish you and your wife continued success in all your dreams and future projects.
Great video Matt! As I guy that loves equipment and building, this video had it all. You’ve got some amazing crews working for you! Beyond impressive! Very happy for you as you get to move into this beautiful home. An exciting time for you and your wife.
Matt, that is going to be an absolutely beautiful home. Having watched your channel for some time now, I know how hard you’ve worked and under miserable conditions at times. You deserve every inch of what you’re creating. Congrats!
I am proud for you and how far your channel has came. It makes me happy seeing someone so deserving and humble make it this far! So many creators lose sight of where they came from but you truly are a genuine guy! Again congratulations to you and your wife!
Matt , it's freaking awesome that you was able to have a big part in helping with your house build. Really nice that you got to use your own Crane in lifting and setting things in place!
Watched you grow for years ,and it’s all coming together for you and Eva. As a retired plumbing and heating engineer I will be having my eye on the second fit then the finish . Congrats Matt 🇬🇧👍🧁 dave
The smile on your face really tells the story of how excited you are for your home to be coming together so nicely. Enjoyed the time lapses and those carpenters really got some work done in a hurry. You'll be enjoying that view from your deck chair soon!!😁😁
Everyone's in here talking about the crane, but don't think I missed ole Johnny Gradall. Good to see all the equipment purchases getting to assist in this wonderful undertaking. Best of wishes on the new house and all the fun memories that y'all will have in it.
Holy Moly! Beautiful home. Love the layout. Great crew, very efficient. As a retired west coast general contractor I could only dream of a fast framing job. A month to frame a 4000 sq ft home was "normal", (inspectors and OSHA played GOD). You were blessed to have the Amish men. Keep the excellent/wonderful videos coming.
I'm from the UK, I worked in a factory making pre fab panels like we see here, most of the houses were made up with 73 different panels, they woukd then get shipped out on 1 or 2 loads to the site, we had out owncteam of builders , who coukd have a house up and built with in 4 ro 5 days, each panel woukd have all the wire ducting, electric sockets all built into them total duration to liveable 4 wks
Awesome effort by all involved. As an Aussie it's interesting to see how other people do things. Seeing the trusses go up on the dream shop was quite amazing but this was beyond next level. I sincerely hope Miss Eva is as chuffed as you obviously are Matt. Happy wife, happy life as they say. Cheers from down under. 👍
don't forget to pre wire the house for low voltage wires. security cameras, wifi modules (big house one wifi module won't be enough), door bell, burglar alarm, flood, heat sensors and cable, HDMI cables for the TV's. I wire up low voltage for small and larger homes for a living 19yrs experience. I'm currently wiring up a 5 million dollar new build right now in Birmingham Michigan. easy to run the wires now while the walls are open. I also recommend having an attic to basement wire runs to future proof the house. Cat6E wires etc.
110V power in each corner of the eves and above your BBQ so you can install eufy motion sensor lights and surveilence cameras, $300 each, no monthly fee, and super worth it. They may sponsor the installation, all the better
@@bobharrington8063 wireless cameras suck and people have been jamming those with cheap Chinese jammers.. why I suggested to hardwire everything. plus wireless camera take longer to load up when trying to view. HARDWIRE is the best option.
Is there a reason why you would recommend pre-wiring the house instead of running empty conduits? That's something that I almost never see here on RU-vid when Americans build houses. And I don't understand that. You will forget some wires or plans change.
@@Jehty_ not a bad idea. Running some Smurf tubing for future wife pulls could be helpful. I ran some tubing in my house for a TV that's accessible due to no attic and no basement. But typically anything is accessible for wires if you have a basement or attic above the room. But yeah running some tubing is a good idea. One good idea is to run a 2-in tubing from the attic to the basement.
@@Jehty_ with pre-wiring if you wanted to run some internet or some security cameras or some security alarm wires will just put those in place before the walls go up. I wouldn't necessarily tube every single thing. Tubing, everything would be a lot of extra labor and a lot of extra in that tubing
Having a video of the build process is a really nice way of documenting what has been done. Years later, when adapting or renovating, you can check the video and see what to expect.
Hello Matt, your dream house is a great thing. Here in Germany no company would show up with ca 10 persons to install all the materials. Important that the windows are installed before fall comes with lot of rain and snow. Hope you will have a great time with your family. I just see there are much more than 1600 comments in few hours and more than 24,000 👍
Matt, it's an absolute thrill to watch your dreams coming true on your family's land. From the shipping container shop, to the dream shop, to what is to become your family's dream home, it has been a wonderful journey for the viewers to watch from the e-sidelines. Congratulations!
Congratulations on the dream home Matt. The quirky passion of dragging home random pieces of equipment has paid off, the framing crew combined with the video skills you have mastered made an enjoyable episode that anyone can look back on in the years to come. Never operated a crane myself, left that to the skilled operators, so admiration is just. Well done sir!
Looking great! Work smarter and not harder. Idea? Put some 2x6 blocking up at the interior top corners of the window so when you’re installing the curtains and or blinds, you’ll have something screw the hanging hardware into besides the drywall. Also, in the high ceiling area, you’re probably going to have ceiling fans? It will be easier to add extra 2x6 bracing for hanging the fans onto. Another idea, good size cold air returns from the bottom of the basement floor and the top floor for great air movement. Heating and cooling will be your biggest ongoing expense, don’t cheap out on it.
And blocking in the bathrooms where the towel bars will be mounted. This detail is usually overlooked ... I just remodeled my master bath and did so when the old drywall was off.
Having the opportunity to contribute using the farm's equipment will be a treasured memory as your family grows old. Congratulations, and thank you for sharing.
Looking really good Matt! That's coming from a carpenter/ cabinet maker. Those guys were fast and with you having the right equipment around, they were able to finish the framing that much faster. Props to you all
I like how from the "road side" the house just looks like a 1 floor house, quite modestly sized, but then there's a secret full floored basement, set into the hillside.
In Norway we place a thick plastic membrane outside the wall, before putting back gravel. It is called Platon membrane. The membrane makes sure that lead away from the wall, and that the wall is "breathing" for years. Then you will not get any problems with humidity later in life.
Matt I have watched you from the beginning. I am so happy to see all your hard work come together. You have provided hours of entertainment for me over the years and I really appreciate it. Congrats on the house build, you have worked very hard for this and you deserve it!
Holy crap, Matt! This has to be your best video to date. I'd love to see your wife's reaction. I'll bet she's over the moon with joy. Can't wait to see the finished product. I know you don't want to show the inside but I hope you'll change you're mind and give us a tour before the final touches are done. It's absolutely beautiful. Congratulations. A hard working guy like you deserves everything you work towards.
Impressive work Matt! You seem to have a really good crew that aren’t afraid to get stuff done. Be great to have your home right beside your workshop, i’d say your well excited to get moving in
Hi Matt after watching diesel creek for quite some time I remember you working in the I think was your basement/garage at your now soon to be old home you and your good lady must be very proud of what you have achieved form the container workshop and how you were so happy when you had a solid floor no more mud and the new workshop (that i'm sure you will extend) and now you fantastic new home in it's great setting you may even get a couple of hours a week in the summer evenings to sit on the deck CONGRATULATIONS To you both regards Ray Bennett (a very envious subscriber from the uk)
She's a real beauty, Matt! I'm excited for you and Mrs. Eva! Your home is modern and sleek, and I'm sure you will be very comfortable throughout the year. Plus, having the house so close to your shop will save you so much time and gasoline ( or diesel!). Enjoy, my friend!
Wow !! It came together fast. Like the design. My wife & I built in 89. We installed beaded board ceilings in the downstairs. Master bedroom, dining room, kitchen, living room, all are white oak beaded board. I love the wood, been involved in building, woodworking, about all my life. My wife & I stained, 2 coats polyurethane, steel wooded coats 1500 square feet of ceiling, plus she & a friend installed all the hardwood floors & tile floor. Get your wife involved some how it really got our relationship off to wonderful start. Still in love 35 years later.
Wow! That's a big crew of hard workers. It all seemed to come together so fast. The windows above the great room are really beautiful. Thanks for sharing this part of your home build. Very interesting. It's so nice you have your own equipment and experience to help it along. Congratulations on having it underway! I'm sure it's all very exciting!
House is lot more than i expected. Going to be beautiful. One thing, Matt from a retired crane op . Get u some pads under the outriggers no matter where it is set up . Please!!!! Luv ur vids .
Greene county homebuilder for 42 years here,I was buying off of Baily steel when it was just his Dad Dan. Nice quality materials from Keim lumber in charm too. Congrats.
Great to see such a HUGE smile on your face as you watch and see the progress. Very beautiful contemporary, yet modern design. I can see the functionality of they layout and the enhancements to the design that will make it a unique and still a well appointed, but modest house. Thanks for sharing....I know you had to debate about that, so it is appreciated.
It’s been awesome to see the plan come together. As I’ve said it in the past. It’s a smart move. Buy broken things , fix them , use said fixed things to save costs on your building plans. Once the house is built you can sell some of the equipment off to recoup money or make a little profit. And then still have revenue from the videos and such.
Your house, your castle! I will say though ... by the end of the first days timelapse, I was guessing it was a group of Amish guys building it. They work in a way that is unmatched when it comes to putting a structure up! Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
From a fellow RU-vidr it is great to see how your life has progressed. From your container garage to the new shop and house. Proud of you, keep making great content.
@@DieselCreek Matt you work hard all day putting out super videos, so you need this wonderful home to relax in so you can come out rested the next day and make more videos!😅😂 Cheers👍👍

looks really good , those framers are awesome , i can tell by the look on your face and the sound of your voice , how excited you are about you and your wife's , dream house , you and her deserve it !!!
Thank you Matt for the progress demonstration. It so therapeutic watching and listening to the commentary from you. Its such a beautiful house you have there. Bless you sir.
Your builder has a great crew. Everybody working for the finished building. I didn't envision the great room but it really suits the house. I think the Missus will be pleased. Your excitement we can see. 2 thumbs-up Matt.
I can not express how happy I am for you, Matt. I've been watching you now for about 7 plus years now, and I'm just so happy that you can make your dreams a reality. House looks great!
In WW2 a Liberty ship of about 10,000 tons was built every day whilst at Willow Run(Air Force Plant 31) by 1944, they were rolling out a B-24 Liberator every 63 minutes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The house looks great ! Done very well ! Your doing everything right , your back fill , and drainage is perfect, windows are great looking 👀 you deserve the best your a hard worker and always willing to give a HAND , Give and it will be given back to you 10 fold , it not what you have but what’s in your heart that determines your wealth ! God bless you and your family!
The has been your biggest project you have shown us and such a personal one it is too. Thanks Matt and hopefully your other half doesn’t get annoyed when you are all moved in and you are banging and crashing in your shop.
Great idea to keep this as close to the vest as you are. I hope everyone’s comments and actions are positive and you have years of enjoyment in your new diggs.
Congrats Matt, literally "A Dream Come True". Those Semi-Supervilains like the time lapse. We need another vid or two for the final exterior. AND it looks like the Grove lasted all day without a hitch! !! !!!
I can see Matt drooling over that forklift even though he is not in the camera shot! 😂😂😂 The house design looks great. I was not expecting to see so much empty space in the trusses, walls, and roof design. What I means is, it seems like a lot of fill to compliment the roof design. But, it looks great.
Excellent framing team and the design looks really good on the wooded site. Any building that shows unexpected elevations as you walk around a corner is the best in my book. Having built and designed my home in traditional oak and brick arts and craft style know the worries about little details.Well done. God bless and thanks for posting from the UK.
I like that design of the house. It's beautiful in this "raw" state.I have no doubt , that with the roof it will be much nicer. Good that you can made your childhood dream comes true. The Semi-Supervillains has also great music. Greetings from France.
Matt, this was a 👍 right from the start. Beautiful design, love the glass feature on the main gable. No question you’ve contracted a top notch builder. Being able to use and work with some of your own equipment helping with the build has to be very rewarding and at the same time saving you some money 💰. Your huge smile 🤓 is shared by all of us watching. Good for you👏. Can’t wait to see the progress in the next video. All the best Lou from Miami 👍🇺🇸
The reason I started following you was when you were working on the old church or school. I can’t remember which it was. You have hooked me on the work you do bringing old equipment back to life. I’m really enjoying your house build. I am happy for you getting a super nice home.
The house design is coming together beautifully! I love the mix of traditional and modern elements, especially with the windows. Curious to know - what made you choose the design, and were there any big inspirations behind it?
Built two houses here in the uk. The easy bit is ground work and shell. Here they make you dig down to the earths core for footings!! The expensive bit starts with inside, plastering , doors, handles electrics, plumbing and flooring. There,s another hugely expensive bit when our wives can finally take over!! Then in comes kitchen units made out of solid gold, bathrooms kitted out in rare handmade italian marble tiles and furniture only available in some far off flung country you have never heard of 😅😅😅. Great vid, keep up the good work.
Wow! This is what I call progress! I can't help but contrast this home building with watching my father and grandfather building our home about 60 years ago. Two men working on weekends (they both had jobs) and it took 5 years! The only power tool used was a Skil saw (it was usually my job to hold the cutoffs) but those 2 men did everything except for installing the HVAC (to have a warranty on it) and bricking the house. The amazing part was that when we moved in, the house was paid for! 3 bedroom, 2 bath around 1700 square feet with a carport and utility room. Your new home is going to be beautiful... I wouldn't mind seeing Ms. Eva's reaction to everything!
Beautiful home! I am sure Eva is going to love it. And you will be more productive being on site. Much bigger than I thought you were going with. Looks amazing!
Hey Matt, I really liked the video segments using the drone, especially where the drone skims the top of the cranes boom then shows straight down the boom cable. Love it all.
