Such a shame these towns are lost, and can't be easily visited presently. I always wanted to explore wider Karelia. Lots of wooden buildings and churches still remain there.
There is actually lot of these local museums that are open during the summer. They usually have lot of village life and early industrial factories in display. If you drive next to Kymijoki, you will see lot of beatiful villages.
