Same. And I used to play ping pong, as well. I felt like I needed to wear a hockey mask. You play a lot closer to your partner, the rackets are longer and made solid and longer length, the balls are a lot harder than tennis balls, and they are at a much higher velocity when hit that close to one another. I'm a scaredy cat. Give me conventional tennis or ping pong, or give me a face mask.

I played tennis in hs and college “. Played pretty much everyday 4 hours a day for 6 years straight you think it would be an easy transition? Been wanting to give it a try.

It requires more touch, and though it takes away the serve and volley game you still need fast hands to compete if you venture closer to the net. Rallies can go on for a long time, just dinking, until your opponent gives you an opportunity to go for it. As far as difficulty, the learning curve is much shorter, and tennis players pick it up much faster, but in the long run, things even out. Professional tennis players can zoom to the higher levels quickly, but even so, the top pickleballers usually come out on top when you get to the very last rounds of a tournament. I mostly play doubles, and can play for a long time because of the smaller area that needs to be covered. Of course, it's also a very social sport and you meet a lot of nice people. Mainly, it's fun and provides more exercise than you might think.

I was a decent Tennis player and athlete years ago, but I was badly injured when I was hit by a car on the foot with undiagnosed Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. After nearly 25 years. I worked extremely hard and got back into decent shape, only to get a terrible hip dislocation. I was already healing from radio nerve palsy and a home invasion injury to my wrist. Thankfully, I had added (chair) yoga not long before the bottom of my life dropped out. This yoga is at church. They also have pickleball. I was completely unfamiliar with this but was interested for the social and mind and body benefits. I still need a couple of surgeries. But I still went back for a yoga class this morning. I saw a pickle ball net for the first time, and here I am. It's for fifty five and over. I'm close so they have told me that I can play. 😂 They know that I have the right attitude about this and am in worse shape than most of the people who play. 😢😂😂 I think I will check it out once I have recovered from my surgeries. This will probably mean waiting until next school year to start. Having watched this, i'm not so sure if I am able to do this, but I WILL TRY. 😂😂😂 I realize that there will likely be people there like you. They have always been very athletic, and this is their version of slowing down. Never underestimate the seniors!!! May I ask your age?

Bruh. It takes skill. Golf doesnt require physical activity per se but it requires more skill than anything else i can think of. This looks fun. And looks like something us middleage people can do without breaking or tearing something lol.

agree...when a 6 foot man can cover 2/3 of the court width with one step either way it lends to a volley drill and not really an interesting one at that.

Doubles can get very repetitive, but still fun. Playing singles with someone who is good is pretty fun and can require a lot of running and is a decent workout. Why are people getting so bent out of shape about a game anyway?

I play tennis and ping pong (was literally taught by a Chinese guy named Ping) -- and have recently picked up pickle ball. It's much harder than the comments here suggest, and I come away more worn out than playing tennis. But maybe I'm doing it wrong.

On top of that, many pickleball players bring their BoomBox to the courts, and play music from when they were teens. They typically do not have any concerns about anyone else having to listen to all that noise. They seem like nice people though, just noisy. And they yell loudly a lot too when they miss a shot, unlike tennis.

Disc golf has skills dude. It will take you years to perfect. Pickleball is something you start in your 50s and become pro in a year. You make an interesting observation. Pickle ball is on the receiving end of a lot of backlash because of the noise it makes in neighborhoods surrounding the courts. Justifiably, in my opinion. That said, I don’t believe pickle ball would have become as popular as it has, if it didn’t make that satisfying “whack“ sound.

Table tennis is much more interesting and complicated because a table tennis bat can apply spin. And here, no spin for ya. It's like you take table tennis, make it bigger, and remove the key element of the game, which provided 80% of difficulty and complicated technique
