He did come out of no where. For most people, they don't really pay much attention outside of the NHL, let alone international hockey. He's only been in North America for 4 years. Yes, he did earn the title of MVP. But that isn't in the NHL. Demko, one of the best goalies in the league, gets taken out with a bad knee injury. Then DeSmith gets pulled for an injury as well. So in comes a 23 year old, from the AHL/ECHL, to fill in. During the playoffs. No one is expecting this _kid_ to do what Silovs did. Almost no one has heard of him before. So yeah, he came out of no where, and I would bet there is going to be a pretty solid war going on when it comes to signing him for a contract for the next season. And he has fucking earned it.

@@dposcuro being a MVP as a goalie for a seriously weak Latvia team was a huge thing. He singlehandedly brought Latvia its first bronze medal ever at the Worlds beating both Sweden and USA.

(as will I), Though for me the Canucks are my #1 team and I'll be a slight bit happier if it's the Canucks that win, but if not, I'm rooting for the OIlers. Also, on that note, tonight it's Go Leafs Go! Send the Bruins packing and keep the dream of an all Canadian Final alive at least one more round!

I guess you can be happy no matter what team wins. For my part, Canucks are my #1 team, but the Oilers are a close #2. Looking forward to seeing some good, run and gun hockey this round, with some hard hitting and big saves, and big checks thrown in. Whoever escapes this series alive, I'll be rooting for, though I would prefer it be the Canucks.

@@LARGO125 That, from what I've figured out, was mostly incited by the Black Block goon squad that goes around to big gatherings and tries to incite chaos whenever they can. Fans upset about a frustrating loss are way easier to incite then happy, celebrating fans. Montreal had their own instances of rioting related to the Cup back in the late 80s/early 90s runs if I remember correctly. I don't know the details of that one, but if I were to hazard a bet, it would be that those same Black Block types were there inciting shit too.

Chaos Giraffe has now become a term of endearment rather than the insult it was last season. Tyler definitely benefitted from Tocchet and the deep depth of all the coaching staff.

@@TheMrWaby I think it's also that he's in a good role for him where he can be sheltered deeper down the lineup but then with his ability he's better than most other team's depth options. yeah...for that cap hit it's not worth it but this season it's basically like he's an own rental. Depending on what happens in the off season I would not be opposed them resigning him but I suspect he'll get a much better offer from some other team.
