However, she saw a McLaren and thought the ticket would have less economic impact on an exotic car owner than a minivan with Kayaks on it's roof rack. Which is unfortunate because owning a fast or even exotic car is not a true indication of wealth. Most RU-vidrs who own exotics do not live on lavish estates. His McLaren and your Gallardo are part of your jobs. The minivan owner with the Kayaks could be spending God knows how much on adventure sports and live in a mansion, but you two were single out because of the car's make, no other reason.

I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. Speed limit on I-15 is 80 North of Ogden (about 38 miles north of Salt Lake City) and South of Payson (about 12 miles South of Provo). Upon approach to any city in the state, speed limit is decreased, for reasons of safety better visual recognition for pedestrians/other drivers. The decrease is typically 65. In some areas however it drops to 55. I wanna know where you live bro !! Let's go meet up and cause some craziness mate !!

It does if you're traveling above the posted speed limit but below the maximum speed for that state...it's called the basic speed law. "The Basic Speed Law states that you must never drive faster than is safe for present conditions, regardless of the posted speed limit."
as someone from Toronto, i will say that i always go ~130 km/h on the highway and i have never been pulled over once. i think a McLaren is an easier target than a regular grey SUV. kinda stupid, but that's life.

In the states here I had a lead foot and got my share of speeding tickets. Don't speed anymore but once I'm driving a very nice convertible top down sunny day but I was going almost 115 mph. Got pulled over and the officer, black state trooper, asks me for my pilots license. I laughed and then he said I was passing small planes! What a sense of humor he had. We talked for a bit and after he checked my license he gave me a verbal warning. He let me go! Our talk included where I worked which happened to be a very popular nightclub. He said he was coming to the club the following Friday and he adds...and the drinks will be on you. He came in that next Friday and I thought oh I'd better get my credit card ready and he only ordered a coke and left. I was driving 115 in a 55 mph freeway section. That's probably reckless driving or worse. Anyway I was grateful and Calvin wherever you are I hope you're having a great life if you're still with us. He was a little older.

You got pulled over because you were going over the speed limit in THE MOST noticeable car in traffic. Cops are going to profile exotics. If cops are around, do the speed limit until you're out of the trap zones.

For starters the car show between 3-5 km/h faster than you actually go, so to get a ticket in a 30 km/h zone, your car would have to show at least 34 km/5 I always have my car showing at least 5 km/h above the limit, because that means I am on the limit rather than below, but I usually drive 10 km/h above the limit since it gets me from a to b faster, and has a very low risk of getting a ticket

That on/off engine light is probably from a wet connector to a sensor. Maybe they forgot to put some silicone on it in the factory (keeps moisture away). You could get a readout to see which one it is, will most likely be in the log.

If it works like it does here they hit one with LIDAR and that is the one they pull over. Its hard to tell relative speed head on, and they pick the fastest LOOKING cars. But once you get lased you are the ONLY one they can testify that they tagged. The annoying one is when the car they pull out on sees them pull out and takes off as soon as they break sight. Then the cop pulls over an easier/safer target. Had a motorcycle fly by me a few years ago and got a ticket a half mile later. DPS broke off the motorcycle chase and matched my speed and ticketed me instead. Since he used speed matching my radar detector never chirped. He TOLD me all this, was quite friendly. It took months for the court to get him to turn in the ticket so I could pay it. (I finally called into his office so I didn't have to keep checking -- the court gave me an immediate deferment for fine paid because of it. (usually its 90-120 days)

Since I was 17 years old i have been pulled over about a hundred times. Cops love flashy cars and trucks. When I started driving a normal car, I found out that I could speed and cops would never look my way. Im 42 now and I have my hotrod. But nothing as flashy as y'all's cars. Take care and be safe. getting pulled over in Canada = ticket... Rarely a warning.. Almost impossible to get away with not getting ticket even with the lightest of offenses you get a ticket.. in the states it's really easy to get away if you're nice to the cop..
