That front kick knockout is still mind blowing to this day. Even joe couldn’t believe it, if you trained or competed in MMA you know how hard it would be to ever do that in a fight.
yeah it's really difficult to pull that off in a MMA fight. Anderson studied Belfort's body movement before that fight, he said to Minotauro, before the fight, that he would win with that kick.
@@samuelhunter4631 Compared to all of his fights, how many were them in comparison? Now Count how many Boring Fights Silva had and compare it to the other goats
Idgaf how many fights he lost in his recent ufc fights this man will be in the goat status and Hall of fame bro Silva in his prime was unstoppable and no one could stop him he was so good standing up and ground game I'll say it right now prime spider > top 10 current middleweight
All of these matches by Anderson Silva were truly the best in his UFC career, during his prime days in UFC. Congratulations to Anderson Silva for being part of the UFC Hall of Fame (2023).
Very good. Silva's greatness wasn't in his endurance or his ferocity or his punching power, Silva's greatness was with in his timing, distance management and creativity.
I always say that and I will repeat it. Anderson Silva was beaten by age, time passes for everyone. But without discussion, at his peak Anderson was the best of all.
@@lucasguimaraes9811 and he beat bisping, i dont care what anyone says. It wasnt andersons fault bisping decided to whine to the referee before he laid him out with that flying knee
@Eduardo Abad Estudio de Percusión compared to khabib, andersons silva's ufc run was just as successful, if not more. At the same age as khabib, he was not defeated in the ufc, and had a record nimber of title defenses. Time always wins in the end, and it caught up with silva in his late 30s. Khabib is 32. When silva was 32, he had been champ for years.
He's the GOAT in my eyes, I remember watching him fight as a kid and seeing him just toy around with his opponents, he made it seem so simple and no other fighter was able to move like him.
Anderson Silva is primarily responsible for the popularity and success of the UFC, unique in style and mental power, legend of legends, greatest of all
@jomiloju ayodele come on man. Most football greats acknowledge Pelé as the best of his era. He doesn’t stop being one of the GOATs just cuz the sport evolves past him
@jomiloju ayodele that's ridiculous, those are not the facts my guy. First off, he was Brazil's best player in 2 world cups (1958 and 1970) not just 1. Second, football was harder to play back then - terrible field conditions, heavy ball, heavy boots, no foul cards (Pele was hunted a lot) so you offside/var point is mute. Third, Brazilian league was the best at the time. Brazil had a bunch of superstars in several top teams (which is why the world cup team was so strong) and Pele beat all of them on a regular basis as the best player on the Santos team. He left to the US way pas his prime - his career there is irrelevant.
Anderson still fights with 44, accepting fights of any magnitude, UFC wanted to fed him to the wolves with adesanya. GSP retired with 37 being afraid that he will be embarrassed by the oncoming competition, chose a pre retirement Bisping to fight, such a joke. Silva is the GOAT, GSP is very much not.
@@rymtotheprime11 Dude he was next level, to argue against that is ludicrous. Nobody has ever done it like Silva. Silva was at the end of his prime when he fought Weidman. In the first Chael fight, Anderson went in there with the specific intention to submit Chael because he was talking shit about his jiu jitsu trainer; in the 2nd fight, Anderson knocked him out.
@@slimbrady6691 and I consider both losses to Weidman as flukes, the first one not so much, he just caught up with the inevitable when you're flashy but damn was Anderson amazing.
His his prime, Anderson Silvas high level striking and unmatched fight IQ was somehow bizarrely beautiful... Prescion violence displayed... well, eloquently. One of a kind, and true legend of the sport. 👑
Craziest thing about silva is the fact that he could see things nobody else in the ufc is capable of seeing. A debatable goat absolutely but the way he moved, his reflexes, his striking ability, his head movement and his ferocious kicks made him untouchable in his prime.
People talk about his striking but what amazes me is the fact that he is a submission artist too!! Its so rare to find a fighter who can do both at such high level, and thats why I think he's the GOAT
@@marcustrummer6665 there always seemed to be a question mark over which Anderson Silva would show up and if he’d be motivated to fight. I think ability wise he could be GOAT but he wasn’t as consistent as others in the discussion.
@@darkghoul4049 A 16 fight win streak is obviously amazing. But surely you’d admit the level of performance in some of those wins varied wildly. I remember a few fights with him being booed.
@@J040PL7 he wasn't moving toward getting on his feet or anything like that. he was just taking punishment. neither his guard was actually protecting him, as those punches were all landing
Khabib cherrypicking Weight bully you’re a casual just by your username Izzy has beat an old Anderson and kelvin that’s nothing Anderson beat Chael nick Diaz rich franklin vitor dan hendorson and that’s just the start
The greatest ever to do it in the octagon. There was just an undeniable magic in the air every time he fought.. like we knew we were witnessing something truly special.
The beatdown he put on Forest Griffin will always be the most legendary showcase in MMA history. Sure Forest was never really elite, but he was solid in his prime and was a tough bastard, and Anderson went in there and absolutely embarrassed him.
I was watching UFC when Forest Griffin came into the picture. Don't let the years passed by and competition today, sway your mind. He took that belt beating notable fighters, in their prime, in that era. You don't win belts being anything less. Forest Griffin was elite in that era. Anderson Silva was just ahead of the time is all. With Silva, we were watching the future of mma.
That one is my favorite in UFC but when he was in another organization he fought someone named Tony Frickland or something like that and he did a standing uppercut with his elbow and I thought he killed dude!
@@tripled8542 Remember when Mike stated that GSP would be destined to fight Serra a 3rd time right after GSP easily tore apart that loudmouth to reclaim his WW Crown in their rematch, yeah nobody believed Mike that a 3rd fight would ever happened!!!
@@METALSAULGOODMAN Yeah Sonnen was winning but in the end he made one very costly mistake & it cost him his chance to ever be a UFC Champ. Than Sonnen went on to lose to Silva again & than after that he went on to get easily dominated by Jones who used Sonnen's own strategy against him and than after that Rashad Evans smashed him outta The UFC.
I think Silva's EQ is amazing. He has an ability to understand and mess with your mind. Alot of those guys probably felt beaten before they entered the cage which reflected how tense they were IMO.
Say what you will about some of his performances, when Silva was in his prime doing his thing, no one on earth could touch him. Truly something special
@@stormhd5124 dafuq, Costa got dropped by Hall, no one could touch a prime Silva whatever weight class. He's a guy who has a chance against everybody who has ever practiced martial arts.
Khabib mauls em 🤷♂️ Gsp dominated them, Jon is at the same level anderson should have tried to get a second belt to become the goat conor was the first champ champ why didnt Anderson or Gsp attempted it
only considering there performances IN the Octagon 1a) Jon Jones (most dominant wins in UFC History) 1b) Anderson Silva (most spectacular wins in UFC history) 2) George St.Pierre (most consistent performances in UFC history) 3) BJ Penn ( most "is he even trying" wins in UFC history) reason why Silva and Jones stand above the rest there competition legitimately did not think they could beat them outside of chael delusional sonnen everytime there opponent lost you looked at there face and you could see without them saying a word they were thinking "I dont want a rematch". now if i take the ENTIRE MMA world 1) Fedor 2) Jon Jones 3) Anderson Silva 4) GSP
@@Iliad05 Similar level of competition under there belt except Fedor had many more fights due to how many times people fought back then. Couple that with Jon Jones Prime Juicing (as opposed to Anderson being "caught" well out of his prime) so Jon Jones loses some points for that. Now Jon Jones was easily on the path to eclipsing every MMA fighter easily in history... i mean hes still #2 all time to me and thats with his checkered career and the fact hes still fighting somewhat in his prime.
Watching prime Silva was just pure magic, you never knew what what was going to happen. The Michael Jordan of MMA imo, his highlight reel is second to none
And those two epic demolitions of Rich Franklin was up there on the highest rankings also. I remember Riches nose after those knees in their first fight. Maaaan.
I was in the Ale house and people were holding USA flags celebrating Sonnen's victory. Half of the restaurant were going for Sonnen and the other half for Silva.. it was insane! I'll never forget that experience.
We brazilians do not like trash talking and show business of UFC. It's cultural. So after Chael Sonnen he was really upset with organization. There's no specific rule on ranking. Money talks, specially those who used to spill bs all the time and millions on ppv revenues. C. Sonnen fought twice with him but really didn't deserve it. There were best fighters at that time and after that I think he just went to the cage because he had a contract that obligated him on some more fights
I remember his leg snapping like a carrot in that Weidman fight, shattering what would’ve been the most impressive MMA career without any room for debate. It was shocking.
@@smhgaming3259 if you don't know it, he cheated BJ PENN in their first match. GSP is known at the time as a complete martial artist and and a very good grappler but BJ is phenomenal on his back. What did GSP did to disable PENN's ability to defend on his back? He put fucking vaseline on his back.
