After this fight Anderson tested positive for steroids and Nick tested positive for weed. Anderson got 1 year suspension and Nick got 5 year suspension.
Unfortunately this fight didn’t get much more exciting then you see here. Which is a shame since these are my two favorite fighters of all time. But it’s tactical enough you can enjoy it
For Nick to land combos like that on Anderson Silva was just awesome, really awesome. He had so many moments of literally beating Anderson at his own game. Let alone how he forced Anderson to fight far more proactively than he normally ever had. The idea the man was restricted from returning for years after being tested for weed right after a fantastic, memorable performance like this is just bizarre.
@@JKDVIPER I can see the problem if it's used too much too regularly for a long period of time, the paranoia that can come with it. But like you say, the majority of the time there's no issue with it at all, especially if you don't smoke it with tobacco. And the health benefits that have been seen with it seem to far, far outweigh the negatives I mentioned above (which again, is with long, long, long term constant overuse). And it's the same with Nick. The idea he got suspended like he did was just baffling.
It's just the UFC trying to get ride of real talented stars that they didn't create. Nick was a super star before he ever came to the UFC. He did it on his own. There's a lot of underground gangster sh!t that happens in professional sports that people don't know about. Secrete groups life Freemasonry want to own and rule every aspect of the world and they try their damnest to get ride of people that are a threat or are not completely sold out to their BS. The problem that they have with Nick and Nate is that the Diaz Army fan base is way too big to get away with a something like that and the Diaz bros just won't sell their souls to that type of scum.
It’s actually a shame that one of the best moments of the fight was edited out where Nick lays on his side with zero fear of Anderson’s ground threat. That was so G.
Nowadays this fight would be a no contest, no loss for Nick, no ban either, Silva would have some kind of penalty and Nick would still be around prime shape to continue his journey. In an alternate reality Nick would have had his rematch with Robbie Lawler for the WW belt. Sucks, man.
Silva hadnt lost 17 fights before Weidman and one he got caught 2nd one he broke his leg.. for Diaz to go the full length n did what he did is amazing. A legend!
@@ripxxx1747 not saying it’s right because others are punished for the same thing but I think he used it to accelerate the healing in his leg. I don’t truly believe Silva was a habitual steroid user or anything close to that
@@shanksmcnasty6650 Putting Silva aside, and just talking about steroid use in combat sports in general. If someone was using steroids to boost their performance for their fighting career [something they train for throughout the year, for years] then why would they *not* be habitual? I'm confused on the idea one would 'not be a habitual steroid user or anything close to that' if they were using and apparently didn't care enough about risk to deter them. Seems a bit silly to think it wouldn't be habitual, no? So with that said. The notion Silva was just using it to heal his leg doesn't sound very believable to me unless we have strong evidence to substantiate the claim? Otherwise, the safe assumption is habitual use for Silva, or anyone else caught using.
@@zacharyshort384 because habitual use is to do it over and over again, and there’s no evidence of Anderson doing that.. again I’m not making excuses for him and I understand cheating is cheating regardless of how it’s done and I’m definitely not ok with it nor do I condone it. But in my personal opinion an aging fighter who takes something specifically to help the healing process of a very brutal and almost career ending injury shouldn’t be condemned or villainized the same way that a healthy fighter who is a repeat offender should who keeps taking banned substances to get an unfair athletic advantage.. Again I don’t agree with what he did. I just feel like the latter is definitely a more serious crime if you look at it objectively
Diaz, and Silva two of the best strikers (boxers) in MMA history. They both have backgrounds in boxing. Diaz bros have trained with Gabriel Rosado, and Andre Ward. Not to mention Diaz' boxing coach Richard Perez is one of the best. Anderson Silva defeated Julio Caesar Chavez Jr. in a controversial match ba k in 2021. Some will say Chavez didn't even train, but you have to remember he's still a veteran in the sport of boxing, and was much younger than Silva.
Especially going up a weight class, against the goat who would just casually move up from time to time and absolutely murder light heavyweights. I’ve always thought this was a very impressive fight from Nick and shows his boxing skills. He had the right game plan knowing he’ll never straight up out strike the best striker of all time
I FIRST MET NICK AT UFC 129 VERY QUIET DUDE. I WAS DOING MOSTLY ALL THE TALKING LOL😂 VERY HUMBLE OUTSIDE IN THE PUBLIC JUST A GENTLEMAN!!! HEY NICK....THANKS FOR BENDING AN EAR BROTHER👈🙏🙏🙏👍
probably some kind of weed oil for inflamation and joint pain from all the steroid training and whatnot. if you are in the elite world of fighting you are on some PEDs no doubt. It would be very rare for you not to be. You would be 1 in a million.
What Nick proved in this fight is that some of whom are considered the greatest fighters are "reaction" fighters, they always wait for the opponent to make the first move, that is kind of cheap imo, altho some call this "smarts" thing is if both fighters do the same we get a staring contest.
U got to remember in fighting there's mainly 2 forms, defensive, or offensive. Neither is cheap both are amazing tactics if utilized correctly. Think of it as Shield vs sword, the sword can kill, but it's can't kill what it can't hit, same way the shield protects from the kill, but can't kill. It's rare that u find a fighter that can possess both "shield and sword" style of fighting. These type of match ups(offense vs defense) make for some of the most interesting and intense fights.
@Last First thats just comes along with the sport. At least it seems so. People literally mauling themselves 4 cash seems pretty interesting from the get go. Who knows
It’s not cheap, it’s smart and it actually takes much faster reaction timing than that of the person throwing the punch. From reading their body to reacting appropriately while under pressure is really impressive. Might not look like he’s doing a lot at the beginning, but he’s slowly figuring out his opponents reach and how he reacts to certain movements. It might not be the flashiest form of fighting, but he did have a lot of success. We’re also looking at an almost 40yo Anderson. Nick was getting frustrated cause he knew that if he took the initiative, he would probably get outclassed by Anderson’s countering.
It's like what Bruce Lee said "When both Fighters are evenly matched, the fighter who is countering has the advantage." I'm paraphrasing slightly, but that's the idea of it. Izzy is the same way, for good reason
On weed?? Lmfao!!! He had it in his system, that doesn’t mean he was smoking it that day. He should have automatically won due to Anderson being on performance enhancing drugs. Total bullshit. Anyway the on weed comment?? Makes it sound like he was on some kind of hard drug.
If your reading this an your the owner of this channel or if your a viewer can anyone tell me what the song is called when Nick enters the octagon cause I know it’s not Deftones
A couple of the best strikers to ever do it. . . To me Anderson Silva is the goat. . . I dont give a shit about the records, how he went out, streaks. . . You had to watch the man fight. He completely made the competition look like it was standing still. When I wanted to show my son what slipping a punch was I showed him Silva videos not boxing. . . cause that's how good the guy was. I hope he makes a few dollars beating up boxers cause the guy was 100 times the fighter Conner ever was and got paid maybe 1000th of the dollar. . .
That’s why Nate lights one up at every post-fight conference to shove it in their faces. I know it was different times and weed was looked down upon almost as if it was the same as smoking crack. Still bullshit he had to face a harsher punishment which pretty much ruined his career. Regardless of the fact.. Silva got caught using steroids which drastically helps enhance your performance where as Diaz smoked some weed which actually could limit your performance. So it makes you think who could have really won the fight if Silva wouldn’t have CHEATED and taken steroids. Nick even after smoking weed and fighting not just anyone but ANDERSON SILVA all roided up and STILL held it down. That right there should really tell you how good he was in his prime.
I see some guys saying nowadays, it’d be “no contest”. No contest? Remember it’s still a fight. In a fight, we determine the winner by looking who is in better shape at the end.
I could understand Silva Crying if he Lost to Nick Diaz, but this looked a “Celebrity Senior Citizen UFC - Promotional event”! On What planet does Nick Diaz go 5 rounds with Anderson Silva?
Dana did not like Nick. Nick had to knock people out to win. Any decisions would be losses. The other fighters knew this and started to stay away from Nick to get decisions.
@@stfuplsok 100 comments in the same channel correcting peoples english. English is not everybody’s first language. Get a job mommas boy, get some money!! Go outside and get off the computer you are pathetic.
The Diaz Brothers get way too much respect. They always get beat to death by anybody decent.... the average non fighter guy could beat them with leg kicks.......
Nick may have lost, but went the distance with one of the best fighters in the WORLD at that weight class at the time. Nick and Nate will always be two of the best fighters in UFC HISTORY! Steroids are powerful in a fight, WEED IS NOT! Nick WON this fight, it's not fair to someone on JUICE!
