Happy 33rd birthday to Don Andrés! 33 years old and still playing at the very highest of levels in world football. There's no denying that Iniesta is not as good as he once was, but that's only normal considering his age and how more and more injuries are starting to haunt him, destroying his match continuity and fitness. Still, I find it funny when people claim that he's "finished" when it was just a few weeks ago that he dominated at the Bernabeu as he usually does, showing to people that he's not lost his ability and quality, it's just that he doesn't display it quite as often as he used to. I'm certain El Ilusionista will continue to mesmerize us with his magic for another year or two before retiring. That will be a sad day for football so enjoy this beautiful man while you can.

It's not about his stats, but his technique and ability on the ball, that ability to remain calm and stop time, I dont think i will ever see a player like him. Happy Birthday Don Andres, My Idol.

Andres Iniesta. He is rightly called Illusionista, the Illusionist. But there is one missing definition of that word that people overlook. Iniesta is an illusion to the defender, but at times, he is even more of an illusion to the viewer. His four CL finals, all victories, he has one assist and no goal, and yet he can lay a claim to being the best player on almost each occasion. See, a lot of the time, say Leo wreaks havoc, it shows. He scores, he assists, he does the pass before the goal. Leo commits a crime and screams to the world "It was me". He is not a showboater, he doesn't do it because he wants to show people, he does it because he can, because he likes it. His name is on the match statistics. Iniesta, on the other hand, in an assassin in gloves. He murders people, he conquers a territory, he rules a kingdom, yet there is no tangible proof for it. There is no fingerprint on the knife; the ruler of the kingdom is invisible. Sometimes, when Iniesta receives the ball from ter Stegen near the defence, opposition forwards try to pressure him down, to get the ball. "One tackle, we will have a break". Iniesta then gently moves in a different direction and initiates another build up, another attack. He as much as doesn't even look at them. The players tackle and press a hologram, there is no one there. The pale ghost is gone. With the ball. Dribbling is an art form. Players dribble in various manners, Ronaldinho perplexes the opponent, bamboozles them. Leo makes them wish they could have slowed time to see what was just done to them, let alone try to stop it. Iniesta dribbles like an orchestrator. He does not destroy players straight away, naa aa, he is too nice for that. He dances, like the wind and the helpless players marking him, dance along with him. They have as much control over their own movement as a cloud in the sky. They just follow the wind, because the wind is so enticing, it looks so promising. But then, the wind fools them. But only for them does this happen. For the viewer, the symphony is still on, in full flow. For a person on ground, the Earth looks flat, linear. In orbit, it is round, not linear anymore. Iniesta's symphony looks linear for the defender, only for it to curve just a bit later, while for the viewer, it is following a perfectly sinusoidal path. From the time i have started watching barcelona...Andres have maintained the same vision,speed,dribbling and down to earth personality...He may not be as vocal or charismatic as puyol..but he holds the respect of the whole dressing room as puyol or even more than him....some people point out there fingers at him by saying he ain't the best anymore,he is mediocre,he is old and what not....But still on the grandest of stages he delivers...like rooney once said that they lost because we had the best player and that player was DON ANDRES!!! Even throw a big rock at his feet he will be able to control it...

Iniesta the best midfielder ....he goes past players by performing unexpected turns and dribbles ...the players see him for a second and the next second he has already gone past them. His long passes and control is top notch..He is just AMAZING...EL MAESTRO

Brilliant work, I love these overall reviews! I think everything what has to be said already had been said about Andrés Iniesta in the past years. Really sad that he already is 33 and I hope so much that he'll renew his contract until 2019 or 2020, it would be a perfect way to end his career winning the Euro in 2020, he probably won't play any longer. This season was definitely the hardest for him after he became a world class player but he had a great time in December and never really disappointed when he was actually fit for some time. I'm sure that we'll see a better Iniesta next season with less injuries because he has some time to recover now. Imo one of the all-time greats in football and a role model for everybody on and off the pitch.

Si hicieran un top de jugadores que enamoran viéndolos jugar iniesta estaría entre los los seis más queridos de todos los tiempos como paraba el juego como daba el pase en el momento justo como veía y yo lo vi en directo muchas veces veía lo que tu desde fuer de el campo no podías ver que humildad cuando le preguntaban cual era su anuncio decía que que su padre no tuviera que trabajar tanto para poder darles de comer a él y sus hermanos lo he visto en el campo nos des de su primer partido no decía nada cuando lo cambiaban en el mundial de Rusia no jugo y yo lo vi claro no ganamos aquel partido contra Rusia en el campo era mejor entrenador con su visión de juego que cualquier entrenador cuando puzol subía al ataque no soltaba el balón hasta que la defensa y el centro de el campo estaba otra vez organizado xavi era genial y Messi junto a pele Maradona y diestefano lo mejor que he visto sin olvidarme de otros jugadores maravillosos de diferentes países pero iniesta te enamoraba
