You go, black girl. I was mesmerized by Billie Holiday's voice, songwriting, and plight. Naomi's and Andra's discussed an iconic songstress who revolutionized the music industry with her sound and wrote a song titled Strange Fruit, which would eventually incur consequences for a lifetime. I'm aware of the song but had no idea it put a stigma on Billie Holiday's back for a lifetime. The song was a cry for help, equality, humanity, and justice for all. I can't wait to see Andra's performance and Lee Daniel's production of such an incredible and unique talent. Kudos to Naomi and Andra.

I love it that Naomi doesn't have a perfect lighthing and studio and expensive peoduction. This way is so much more tru. God knows she could have it if she wanted it but this is so much better and she looks amazing even in dark.
Yes omg I saw her at the Oscars and didn't recognise her at first! When rise up came out she was heavier and had like a different aesthetic but she looked so young and just so incredible in that gold dress

I have been a Billie Holiday fan for many years and I had no idea that she was jailed and that the government went after her like that! She was such a strong woman to stand against such trials! I enjoyed the movie so much that I watched it 3 times and I couldn't believe that Miss Day was actually singing! And sounds like Billie! I cried. There is so much that this movie should be teaching people!! Let's pray 🙏 that it does.

I am an all time fan of Billie Holiday and could get enough of her documentaries and Diana Ross Epic portrayal of this legendary jazz musician. But Andra Day blew me away, for real, she literally transformed herself to a T into Billie Holiday this brought a new understanding of Billie's trials. Overly impressed fan 🔥💯❤️
